True, /a/ does not by itself dictate what 4chan is or should be.. and neither does /b/ nor /v/ nor /vg/ nor /pol/ nor /int/. That's just not how it works.

Majority of /a/ doesn't even acknowledge this boards existence, what's really happening is a few crossboard posters are going on /a/ and saving images then posting them on other boards, other people save them too and spread it across the whole site. Anime is based and wonderful, but /a/ is Literally Plebbit: The Board. Most shows are at least 13 episodes which is a solid 4-5 hours you must dedicate at minimum in order to talk about a show. Most shitters just do not have it in them to dedicate that time just so they can join in on threads. On top of that you're expected to have years of experience under your belt, and since most anime fans got into it late they have way less time to pull this off so it's a lot more work.

Compare this to /tv/. American tv and films are watched from birth so the average user has 20+ years of content they've seen to shitpost about. When they come across something new all they have to do is sit down for an hour or so and they're ready to shit up the thread. There are way less barriers to entry.
