What are some old memes you'd like to see make a comeback?
I was always really fond of Big Dog.
Being able to discuss the topic of a board without /pol/kids dragging everything into racewars and muh sjw boogeyman. I can't even fap in peace on /gif/ without the next epic mastertrolls shitting al over the floors and walls.
I really liked that meme on 4chan.
I seriously hope you guys don't do this.
this fella. not because it's old, nor original but because trolling still exists and posting this fish and hook doesn't grasp it properly
The difference is that the people being trolled post the bait image, while it's the trolls that use trollface. It's weird that people stopped posting trollface though, maybe it's because the attitude of the site has gotten to a point where posting that face gets a bunch of "hurr durr I was just pretending to be retarded" responses. Or it could be that it's just not allowed anymore, since rule 3 occasionally gets enforced. I posted the O RLY owl once to see what would happen and ate a ban for it.
Fact: Troll Science was bad, but still an infinitely better meme than all these braindead kids trying to jerk off the corpse off trollface for the billionth fucking time like wow you strung 3 whole letters together and copied trollface again I geddit you're a dank meme wizard kiddo congratulations goddamn have an upvote
I bet you thought you made me reply but actually this post is just a figment of your non-existent imagination now go make another trollface rip-off cause the internet is begging for more you'll be a legend some day dont stop believin
>Wanting to revive memes
Right, it's not like other sites will catch wind of a previously old meme being used; said sites also won't milk it dry to the point where if you post the meme here, you'll be called a "dumb ___poster."
>1. dubs, I check them.
[s4s] says its alive
>2. This post is very good.
Related dead meme. Underrated post
zerg rush KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKKEEKKEEKKEKEEKEKEEKEKEKEKEKEEKEKEKKEKKEEKEKEKEKKEEKEKEKEKKEEKEKEKEKKKEKEEKKKEKEKEKE
>never been as PC
And here is your problem. You want everything to be politicised. Either /pol/ or PC. Many anons are tired of seeing serious politics fucking everywhere, we just want to talk on some another subject without getting constantly reminded about its political significance.
>when it's literally a filter on the site and will show up all the time
This is like saying you miss...I can't even think of something appropriate for this example, what you said is just too dumb.
Great, Anon. You completely missed the point.
It has nothing to do with anything being nazis or PC, left or right, natsoc or commie. I don't fucking care.
What it has to do with is the fact that everything is now politics. Or, rather, it's /pol/ memes, which is just a by-product of the increasing focus on tribal-level politics that is forced into everything. I just want threads where people actually talk about the topic at hand, not some barely related political candidates or /pol/'s latest (but already stale) meme.
politics is in everything whether you like it or not. you don't get to decide.
Bullshit. I could state that everything is philosophy (and I'd be more correct in that claim that you are in yours), and try to force asinine discussions of that into every discussion on every board, but we'd all intuitively see why that's wrong. Politics is the same way. It's largely unrelated to most threads on most boards.
In the end, threads are about their actual subject, not whatever tangents or forced memes /pol/ (or any other board for that matter) wants to push into it.
>you don't get to decide
Neither does /pol/. The "cultural wind" just favours them at the moment. Don't believe this to be permanent.
It's neither fully one or the other.
Sure, there's a sort of rising political awareness (especially around certain issues) going on right now, but the issue isn't so much people being more concerned with politics as it is the development of a really obnoxious culture around it.
And that's where /pol/ comes into the picture. It's essentially making political things into very shallow memes and shared ideas. It's a "exciting" barely-political shitfest that has some roots in actual politics, but is really just like any large. overgrown society dedicated to something. /pol/ is to politics what weebs is to Japan. Sure, you could argue that Japan is the cause, and that weebs are just an effect, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm not in the slightest bit annoyed or bothered by politics or Japan, but fucking tired of /pol/ and weebs. It's just a cancerous culture that hopefully won't have too long of a lifetime.
this. It got picked up by the memebase rage comics, and once those hit the mainstream, 4chan developed an extreme hatred towards them, despite almost all the content originating for 4chan in the first place.
I sort of feel like 4chan as a whole became srs bsns. If it's not /pol/ dragging politics into everything, it's anti-SJW Gamergates or endless shitflinging wars about memes and reddit. It's like nobody anymore can just chill the fuck down and do things for the lulz.
This,4chan and the internet in general has turned into serious business.
So much this. I took a hiatus from 4chan several years ago, then when I came back everyone was spouting far-right propaganda and obsessing over some SJW boogeyman. I didn't even know what the fuck an SJW was since 4chan is literally the only site that whines about them.
Anytime 4chan delved into politics in the past, it was just shitposting and lulz. Now the site's overrun with actual Stormfags who inject themselves into every hobby board, go on completely off-topic rants about feminism, Jews, liberalism, whatever, then cry "Reddit!" when anyone doesn't want to listen to them. Or worse, when someone actually bothers to contradict their bullshit, they start whining about how their right to free speech has just been "trampled" on.
>"Why can't I force myself into other people's conversations and start randomly complaining about minorities without being called a racist! That's UNFAIR!!"
I don't know who put what in the drinking water, but you guys need to be fucking medicated.
>SJWs are just a boogeyman
They aren't tho.
I guess you're right that some people on here obsess over it, but stating that SJWs are just a boogeyman is kind of partisan. I'm a liberal myself, and I've always supported free speech over censorship. Millennials these days can't seem to handle opinions that are different from theirs, so they feel the need to silence them. They feel morally superior over them, so they think that justifies their crusades.
So yes, the internet has become serious business, but it's not only the fault of the so-called reactionaries. The internet can get you fired, harassed, or socially excluded.
If even the President of the United States, the foreign-born Muslim, anti-American terrorist, king of niggers and liberal poster child is speaking out against a certain movement - it's probably not coming to eat your breakfast.
>The internet can get you fired, harassed, or socially excluded.
Even less so if your breakfast is anonymous and unlabeled. The rest of the internet may be full of people reporting your illiberal tendencies and microaggressions to your HR department (if you have the world's worst Facebook friends and live in a super-liberal city), but that's not relevant here.
>herp derp, look at these articles I cherry-picked
Right, because some sensationalist clickbait site represents a majority of peoples' opinions? Nobody cares about your librul boogeyman, faggot. Fuck off back to Stormfront with the rest of the schizos.
>I don't know who put what in the drinking water, but you guys need to be fucking medicated.
It's fluoridation. I guarantee it. They said we had nothing to worry about. They were wrong.
I think that the issues is that it's completely irrelevant and unrelated whether SJW actually pose threat to anything. People want to discuss the board topic/focus without politics being injected in constantly.
Like recently when on /a/ there were threads spammed about Trump and they were deleted innitially, but then mods caved in and let one of threads go undeleted and it was there for hours, like, why?
Also when you tell these people to fuck off they will just barrage anyone with "4chan has always been this and that, are you against it or something?" as if calling out offtopic automatically makes you opinionated against the posts self and that just because I agree with the post it should be permitted even though it doesn't belong there.
I still think it's necessary to call them out on it, and this is why I don't really blame the people who rant about SJWs all day. These people actually are taken seriously to an extent, mainly by the media, especially because they somehow have the idea that they are on the right side of history. I think that if you have the idea of self-righteousness with the aggressive methods like the ones I posted, that it comes back to bite you one day.
Wew. You prove my point tbhfam.
Report and hide the threads or off-topic (shit)posts you don't like. That's what moot always said too.
>I still think it's necessary to call them out on it, and this is why I don't really blame the people who rant about SJWs all day. These people actually are taken seriously to an extent.
The fact that your favorite political cause is REAL IMPORTANT still doesn't mean you get to post it everywhere.
If you see someone being a self-righteous cunt call them a self-righteous cunt. There's nobody who can't get behind that.
>Also when you tell these people to fuck off they will just barrage anyone with "4chan has always been this and that
Holy kek this
Everytime I see one of them write "4chan was always right wing" I end up staring at the screen and blinking in disbelief.
Imagine if moot gave the site to Boxxy instead of Hiro.
but again literally who gives a fucking shit, and why are you slacktivist faggots "fighting" SJWs here instead of on Reddit or wherever the front lines of your pointless masturbatory facebook-tier political shit flinging war is this week
I want to discuss technology on /g/, not the Mozilla foundation's latest affirmative action quotas or what some irrelevant slut on Github is whining about on fucking twitter
fuck off and die
>implying Costanza isnt part of the board's culture
Remember the shrine one /sp/artan had in his fridge?
