So 4chan in 2016 has mods that literally defend reddit, unstable moderation where legit content gets deleted while flaming and shitposting goes through, post-ironic content taking over established board cultures. And still no way to properly contact/communicate with the mod/janitor team, and complains that are literally shots in the dark and don't do shit 9 times out of 10.
Can 4chan get worse?
t. piss in pants crybaby butthurt about a website that wasn't even mentioned anywhere in the thread and sees any criticism of his precious hugbox as the result of a theoretical invasion from that website
Yes. It probably won't though. Doesn't matter what the mods do, its the community that has the final say.
The only real issue is the retarded funposters who think they are in the right when they fuck up genuine discussion. You can't feasibly moderate that and it just results in rampant shitposting when the community tries to kick faggots out.
I just come in here from /tv/ because the first page is nothing but offtopic pedo bait ('cunny') and porn and surprise, surprise, this is the first thread in here, the shit that happens in that board is unbelievable
I have no idea what you qualify either of those things as but don't pretend to hold an opinion you don't actually have and then throw a bunch of memes and fallacies at people to wind them up. It's not smart or funny.
No I just think people tend to fit the boxes they are put in. Like
>all Australians are shitposters
Became a self fulfilling prophecy.
Calling redditors dumb memers could cause exactly that.
If you hate the moderation system here so much, fuck off to 8ch.
It was founded for cry-babies like you.
The moderation system here won't change because of your post, and no amount of shit-posting will change it.
>Hurts people's feelings
Its shitposting. Come up with a new catchall insult faggot. Like faggot. Or you can always fuck off and not come here anymore, right? You don't watch movies you hate. You don't go to restaurants you don't like. You've got the power friendo.
No it cant. And dont forget they allow redditors to post this kind of shit
Time for another mass exodus and temporary death of 4chan. Its like a fucking cycle now.
Chase oldfags out
Let shit fester
People lose interest
I literally just got banned from IRC for saying that the community has the power to tell people to fuck off. One even responded:
>"muh community" is not a reason for anything
It's quite apparent that the mods have very little regard for the very notion of community on this site.
I'm still shaking out of fear for where this site is going.
>I'm still shaking out of fear for where this site is going.
my reaction face when upon reading you're comment
Hiro told people to go to the IRC room to complain about the problems with the site. The mods doing that goes against what Hiro said. You should have fucking said Hiro said we are allowed to complain on here, therefore he overrides your rules
I did, he (ALTERNATIVE) didn't respond. Probably /ignore'd me as soon as he kicked me. I WILL be talking to hiro as soon as he comes back online though.
>I'm still shaking out of fear for where this site is going.
same 2bh, they might as well make an account system and drive that final fucking nail in.
>mods banning people for saying 'go back to r*ddit'
>publicly banned someone for saying nigger on /v/
>muh bad words
the cucks are winning.
Well what the fuck else do you propose? I sure as hell don't have the money to buy a plane ticket and track his jap ass down. Also, pretty sure the last guy who did that to moot got a permaban.
Also, funny you should use that image, I *am* Jewish. I get what you mean though.
Anime is pretty much my hobby now. Well, that and 4chan anyway.
Ok, but since when do newfags get to be mods?
I support /qa/ because I think we as a community have a need, dare I say a right, to have a forum in which we can discuss issues that pertain to the site. The only two places where GR 8 don't apply are here and /b/, and we all know that trying to have a constructive discussion on /b/ is like trying to herd a flock of cracked-out velociraptors.
Of course I don't own it, but as a user, that effectively makes me a customer since it's my eyeballs that the advertisers are paying for, and that means I can, like any consumer, make remarks about the quality of service provided.
Plus, I've been involved in a lot of user-directed, user-operated projects, like free software and various wikis. Fucktarded moderation pisses me off because I know that online communities are made or broken by their users, so the site administration has literally no excuse to fuck up that most valuable asset of theirs.
>we don't promote from within
I think I'm beginning to understand why we have these problems in the first place.
Yes, I do know how corporate jobs work. However, in much of my experience with other sites, having been a long-time, regular member of the community is usually considered a required qualification to become a moderator. I don't think that anyone can really ever be suited to moderate a community they don't understand. Any buisiness entity that treats it like just another employee position is, IMHO, looking at things all wrong.
Moderators have a position in online communities akin to judges IRL. They are expected to act fairly, but firmly, and with impartiality and reason. To expect someone who is wholly unfamiliar with a community to then come moderate it is like out-of-the-blue filling a federal circuit court with an Indian judge who has never spent a day in the US before being appointed.
I have two suggestions in this matter:
1) Moderators should be specific to one or two boards. They should not have powers elsewhere.
2) Moderators should have spent some decent quantity of time, such as a year, as a janitor on the board/s they will be moderating without any significant incidents
3) In addition to their capcode, moderators should have either a name or unique ID that publicly attaches to all their moderation actions, for the purpose of accountability.
To me, you're a newfag. You're all newfags, it's doubtful that any of you have been using the site as long as I have. Your variety of retardation has co-opted so much discussion that takes place on this site that it's unreal. Who the fuck do you think you are? Why are you supposedly so capable of determining who is fit or unfit to post on 4chan? The problem isn't the moderation, it's people like you trying to make 4chan into a shitty circlejerk, ironically, like reddit.
>I think I'm beginning to understand why we have these problems in the first place.
You don't understand shit, because everything you know about 4chan is filtered through the lens of information that all needed /b/'s standard disclaimer attached to it when you got it.
>all these newfags calling the mods newfags
If you've actually been around long enough, you'd know the current mods, that are STILL here, have been on 4chan since 2003-2004. RapeApe, ALTERNATIVE, MVB, Zephro, ABIB, kami etc.
They're all mods from 2004 and are still currently mods.
The only newfags are you.
Fuck off you stupid /b/tard. No one cares what you have to say, when you are a literal /b/tard who admitted to only ever leaving /b/ because of GG. Not just that, you don't lurk at all and go right into posting. You have no regards to board culture and even go around to demand change for things. aka WHY DOESNT /a/ HAVE TOONAMI THREAD WAH WHY CANT I OFFTOPIC POST ON /a/ CHANGE THIS FUCK BOARD CULTURE YOU ELITIST CUNTS. I can assure you, you got banned from the IRC for being a smug arrogant retard who lacks a understanding of the site and what site and board culture is.
>I'm still shaking out of fear for where this site is going.
This is ironic for you to say, because you are /literally/ apart of the problem. You don't lurk, you go right into posting and demand change for things you don't even use or like. You also are a attention whore tripfag, a shitposter MALfag on /a/ and a mobile poster to top it off. Please kill yourself.
Also the fact you think 4chan mods are the same as the mods on other internet forums is just showing your new. 4chan is a dictatorship, not a democracy. 4chan isn't srs business, its fun that sits between shitposting and intelligent discussion. Pull the stick out of your arse and go back to >>>/b/
>oldfags can do no wrong
might want to take moot's cock out of your mouth while you're at it tbqh with you
I don't even know what chinese cartoon it is from senpai :^(
>4chan is a dictatorship, not a democracy
No dictatorship is absolute. 4chan is a business, and that means we have power over it as its (indirect) source of revenue.
While I can't say I was around to personally witness it, anyone familiar with the site's history should remember that /b/-day was caused by very similar issues. 4chan has always prided itself on being able to hold its own against assaults from much larger online communities. Being deprived of whatever is perceived as a method of defense against such attacks is somewhat like being disarmed. Eurofags and japs like Hiro may not immediately understand this, since they live in countries with no personal right to arms, but it's a very strong sentiment here.
Back then in 2006, the enemies at the gates were furfags. Now it's redditors. The characters change, but the story remains the same. I sincerely hope that Hiro can avoid repeating the mistakes of the past this time.
>Reddit mods infiltraded 4chan and now abuse their power
Who could have guessed?
>I have two suggestions in this matter
>I post three suggestions
Still, no one has seriously answered what they think of my suggestions. Since I'm not going to jump off a bridge, I suggest you stop wasting keystrokes asking me to do so.
Case in point: >>>/global/rules/8
First, I wasn't asking the site administration, I was asking the community here.
Second, no response to feedback has been provided since September. It's pretty much dead-useless now. IRC is where Hiro told us to field complaints, but a certain mod has foreclosed on that option for me.
I think the mods have to be new or they are clearly forgetting that everytime this site has been brought to its knees its been because of infighting and community revolts the same will happen again.....and just like always the mods will cave like the limp-wristed bitches they are
I don't think they give in because they're weak. Even the mountain yields to the slow erosion from the wind and rain. The mods eventually realize that a king is nothing without his subjects, and they accede to their demands.
The problem is that we keep getting a new crop of mods, usually hired from other sites like Reddit, and they have to keep relearning the same lesson.
TL;DR: LURK MOAR applies to mods too.
>Threads calling out the mods on their bullshit all 404
Will /pol/ ever be wrong
>bootlickers say that the mods are always right
>"its moderation on quality, for civil discourse"
>meanwhile /pol/ gets 30 spammed shill threads that dont get removed
>no sjw words wordfiltered out
Its always the right that is being attacked, its never the left. Its pretty obvious where the bias of the mods is.
>predicated on lies and fantasies that were fed to him by other stupid posters on /qa/
Hahahah no. My conclusions are my own. If you want to call me a retard for coming up with them (instead of actually explaining why they're wrong like an intelligent person would), then feel free to go ahead and do that.
4chan changed after moot banned gamergate and purged /pol/
A lot of oldfags left for cripplechan and tumblr and reddit flooded in.
Funny that, I came here pretty much the same way, desu~
>4chan isn't srs business, its fun that sits between shitposting and intelligent discussion
You just ruined your entire autistic argument with that one sentence
Unfortunately, not only are you right, the actual source of the quote appears to be a white supremacist jackwagon.
Nonetheless, even a stopped clock is still right twice a day.
the doctrine or practice of vigorous action or involvement as a means of achieving political or other goals, sometimes by demonstrations, protests, etc.
>Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, or direct social, political, economic, or environmental change, or stasis with the desire to make improvements in society and to correct social injustice. Forms of activism range from writing letters to newspapers or to politicians, political campaigning, economic activism such as boycotts or preferentially patronizing businesses, rallies, street marches, strikes, sit-ins, and hunger strikes. One can also express activism through different forms of art. Daily acts of protest such as not buying clothes from a certain clothing company because they exploit workers is another form of activism. One view holds that acknowledging privileges and oppressions on a daily basis ranks as a form of activism
>actively trying to reform the gaming industry and journalism
Okay. Now prove that you're a member of the community without being a tripfag and without using any information that you could find in three minutes on knowyourmeme.
Keep in mind that the majority of the community doesn't like tripfags, so being a tripfag basically invalidates you from being loved by the mainstay community of 4chan as a moderator unless you're like... I don't know... a mod who usually stays in the small sections of 4chan that don't mind tripfags, like /i/ and /ic/ or something.
