What factors contribute to /v/ being so uniquely bad?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Gamergate pushed it past the threshold of no return.
>>
It is full of posters, MANY of them underaged, who don't really care about the board's topic so much as it's a convenient excuse to shitpost with likeminded people. People who genuinely like video games have much better places to go even right here on 4chan.

/v/ is a timesink shitposting dumpster for people with no hobbies.
>>
>>421657
shitposters (console wars, e-celeb, fanboy wankers) bitched at moot forever since their threads got filtered out by popular games and retro games. so moot appeased them by creating /vg/ and /vr/ respectively the base shitposting remains
>>
It would help if the mods actually paid more attention to it. MLP threads, porn threads, /b/ tier shitposting, it's really like people are just using it as another /b/ rather than talking about video games.
>>
Being a video game discussion board

Newfags first stop when visiting 4chan. Nobody lurks and will 100% genuinely argue about any inane shit.
Also well over half the posters are only interested in "trolling" Or fun posting.
Gamergate did encourage way to many redditors to come and those threads were pure cancer. It's no wonder that the batch of anons that arrived then have a fucked up perspective of what 4chan is.

It was already far past the point of no return when Gamergate happened.
Video games are easily the most common hobby of all interest boards. Pretty much every newfag starts with /v/ or /b/. And since they've been flooding in at an uncontrollable rate, the concept of lurking moar died and the newfags started to reshape the place in their image and according to their skewed perception of 4chan. Along with having a Steam forums level of knowledge about video games.

Keep thinking that, kike.

Size.

Yes but /v/ermin didn't have to invite NeoFAGGOTS and tumblrniggers onto their board, did they?
>>
most /v/irgins think they're too mature for /b/ but want to post like they're still on /b/.
>>
>>422021
/v/ is a video games board now, not and interests board. I know what you're saying, though.
>>
Faggots claiming it was gamergate show you how brand new they are. It was their obsession to bait SJW's and post secondary content that's barely relevant to /v/ at all. The only credible news that should be posted here is directly from a Japanese source or from a developer that isn't so shitty. or maybe something like GYP, Nichegamer, and Gematsu.

The point being that they went TOO off-topic.

Are you retarded? This was a byproduct of GG.
>>

Because video games have the most god awful culture and community ever made.
>>
>>422350
>not television
I don't know who hurt you, but video games at least take some sort of skill to master.

>I don't know who hurt you,

It's the loads of people who are not only ok with but also defend shit like this that hurt me.
>>
>>422355
The fuck am I looking at?
>>
>>422359
Ubisoft cutting out so much stuff from Watch Dogs to split apart in multiple editions and retail stores that you had to look at a spreadsheet just to know what you're getting/missing.
>>
>>421657
videogames are for manchildren
>>
>>422364
Mediocre game. What does this have to do with what you originally said? /v/ doesn't support this.
>>
>>422369
It's not the game itself it's the fact that the gaming community is filled to the brim with people who defend that kind of crap that makes them horrible. It's just an example of why they're one of the worst which related to why /v/ is so shit. The television community may be shit but you don't see anyone defending cable companies trying to price gauge them.
>>
>>421657
VIDEO GAMES ARE FOR FUCKING CHILDREN, NOT GROWN ASS MEN.
>>
>>421657
Board is fast, so OP's have to be inflammatory or shitposty a lot of the time to gain traction. That's idealistic me.

Cynical me says that Reddit is literally destroying /v/.
