That's exactly why that shouldn't go on /pol/, because it's cheap bait. If it starts going on /sci/, those retards are gonna start getting destroyed by actual science, which is one more reason to actually do this.
Please stop directing shit to /x/ and tell them to just fuck off in general. We've been shat on by every filth corner of this website and its moderation team since 2007, we'd like to fucking heal.
I admit I'm one of the people who used to do that but lately I've been telling tinfoilfags to go to abovetopsecret or godlikeproductions
I wish Hiro or mods would make a tinfoil/conspiracy board for those people. They shit up /k/ and int/ too sometimes, not just /pol/ and /x/.
Gun Control debates need to stay on /k/ as well. I don't give a fuck what their kike moderator thinks it would also be nice if our moderators actually backed us up instead of letting boards like /k/ and /sci/ use us as a dumping gound for their worst shitposters.
Fuck /pol/. What the mods should really be concerned about is keeping anti-semitism and hate speech off the rest of the site.
>GUYS I'M TOTALLY A REGULAR USER OF /pol/ AND I WANT THE MODS TO REMOVE THE FOLLOWING THINGS
>LOOK HERE'S A NAZI COSPLAY I'M LEGIT
Actually the religion and atheism threads don't belong on /x/ either. /his/ permits religion in its sticky and so anywhere from a quarter to two thirds of that board is religion threads at any given time. A /rel/ containment board would work better but the common complaint is "it'll just be fedora memes and generals", so instead we have fedora memes and generals across several boards.
Should go in /trash/ for the reasons pointed out here >>408663
That's part of our banter and board culture; if you don't like it go find another politics forum. Internet's full of them.
While it makes sense in theory that history discussion should go in the history board, the combination of Nazi-tier overmoderation and the aforementioned religion/atheism shitposting make it an unattractive board in general. Fix /his/ and then I'll agree.
>evolution and global warming
Those subjects are common discussion topics in American politics and the latter issue also affects global policy. As such they are political subjects, whether you like it or not, and thus fair game for /pol/. There's no reason why a subject can't apply to more than one board--for example video games based on /tg/ settings can and often are discussed on both /v/ and /tg/.
>I have never actually been to a gun control thread on /pol/
They're always full of people debating the effectiveness of various gun control measures and posting statistics backing them up. What you most likely encountered was a blatant shitpost thread that was recognized as such and so other people shitposted right back. If you make an earnest attempt to start a discussion about gun control and your OP isn't just a one-line liberal meme like "well-regulated militia LOL" you will, 99% of the time, get an informative debate. A debate that liberals lose every single time because they have no actual facts or statistics backing their position on guns, just feels and memes. But I digress: put some effort into your OP, you'll get a discussion. Post a garbage OP, you'll get /k/posting and "SHALL".
I actually agree with you. Another reason why I want a /forumgames/.
>religion should go on /trash/
>That's part of our banter and board culture
Board culture is codeword for shitposting.
>/his/ is unattractive because it doesn't allow anti-semitism and revisionism
Now that's what I call edgy!
>Those subjects are common discussion topics in American politics
Just goes to show how Americans are retarded.
>the latter issue also affects global policy
Then /pol/ may discuss the policy, but not whether global warming is real or not.
>A debate that liberals lose every single time because they have no actual facts or statistics backing their position on guns
Do we browse the same /pol/? Because the other day I saw gun-nuts get schooled on the constitution, on how no constitutional right is an absolute right, how furthermore the second amendment traditionally referred to the right to be in the militia, not to own bazookas, before it was reinterpreted by DC v. Heller, and how America has the worst gun crime rate of all the developed world.
>>religion should go on /trash/
For some reason this is reply is popping up every time someone points out they don't want religion threads. The complaint includes atheist threads b8ing religious belief. These threads are found regularly on /his/ /pol/ and /x/ and really don't belong on any of them.
Gun control is politics. "Post Christ-Chan" and "When did you outgrow religion?" are not.
> These threads are found regularly on /his/ /pol/ and /x/ and really don't belong on any of them.
If those threads don't belong then those Planet Saturn-hexagon threads and the Molech/Baal worshiping MKultra inducing illuminati-pedophile cult threads *REALLY* don't belong.
Which is why it gets a ton of atheist shitposting and crappy protvscathvsorth generals. All should be on their own board for people that want to talk about or debate religion.
I really hate the SJW shitposting and general "feminism is awful and all women are awful". The threads are full of horrible manchildren bitching about how all women are whores.
Bitching about what SJWs post on Facebook or Twitter has nothing to do with politics, and the threads shit up the board. Now /r9k/ posters think they can fit in on /pol/ by blaming feminists (though more often they just blame women for everything).
It's really disgusting and worst of all, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS. I don't care what some fuckhead SJW kid posted on his twitter. I don't care what some single mother posted on facebook. We can talk about Bernie's posts on Twitter or Trumps FB messages because that actually involves politics, but the random shit literal nobodies write on social media has nothing to do with politics.
The general culture of woman hating is also just annoying and unhelpful. It scares off regular people who might want to get some alternate viewpoints, and it makes the board look childish and bad overall. Yeah, we all get that there are some crazy feminists over on tumblr or whatever, but /pol/ is not the place to discuss that. I don't like them either, but I simply ignore them.
The biggest problem with all that shitposting is that it draws in the /r9k/ crowd of nutjobs who think they fit in with the population of /pol/, /r9k/ is a horrible place filled with broken males and we don't need their ideologies spreading over onto the rest of 4chan. If you haven't been to /r9k/ recently, please go take a browse. It's really a terrible place, and while I feel sorry for some of them, that doesn't really excuse their behavior. /r9k/-tier woman hating and shitposting needs to be contained on /r9k/. Mods need to step up their moderation on /pol/ and keep it strictly politics, not "bitch about shit random people say on twitter". I try to report the off topic threads, but it doesn't seem to do much good.
How to spot reddit/newfags like the faggot OP
>think 4chan is super cool and that you're an expert on it despite never visiting it
>see thing you don't like
>demand it be removed as if you own the place
Are you retarded? They specifically state on /his/ that /his/ is not "/pol/ with dates". They want it to be a board for actual discussion of history, religion and the humanities. So based on that, do you think that /his/ users want their board to be the go-to board for "The holocaust didn't happen" and "muh 6 billion" threads? I fucking doubt it. It's /pol/, there's overlap with other board topics, get over it.
Why do you consult your feelings?
Only Eurofags don't get this anymore. Meanwhile, absolute free speech was their idea. Locke and Rousseau and all that shit.
Hate speech is not free speech, dumbass.
No right is absolute. The first amendment doesn't grant you the right to publish child pornography
This isn't about eurofags vs. amerifats. It's about educated vs. uneducated people.
You should have stayed in school.
An essential characteristic of free speech, is that it should not be up to the government to decide what is acceptable public discourse.
Child pornography is not speech, for it has no meaning, no content. That puts it on shaky ground which is then totally undermined by the fact that it is a) evidence of a crime, b) actively supports and finances criminal activities, and c) itself constitutes the re-victimization of the child. For those reasons alone, it is possible to prohibit it.
A statement that, "Mexican immigration is ruining this country" could be seen as either a legitimate, if possibly mistaken, political opinion, or as hate speech directed at Mexicans. History has shown us that the authorities will always choose to interpret such ambiguities in whatever way benefits them.
When it's political discourse that's at stake, this raises the not trivial specter that all dissent the government finds inconvenient or troublesome will be labeled as "hate speech", and dissenters will be thrown in jail under this pretense.
The US Constitution was created in part based on the notion that the government is not, and never will be, a truly neutral party in the lives of citizens. Therefore, its utility as an arbitrator must be subject to strict limits so as to preserve the liberty and fairness of society.
European governments, derived mostly from ancient monarchies, do not share this attitude, and therefore have comparatively few limitations on government. The UK literally has none.
This is the essential schism across the Atlantic, and I doubt that it will ever be bridged, certainly not in our lifetimes.
Someone will always limit your freedom. The difference is we let elected officials do it. You let the wealthy unelected media moguls and Wall Street do it.
Keep pretending Michael Moore wasn't censored in 2003 during the Academy Awards for speaking out against the Iraq war, you retard. Your so beloved freedom of speech is completely fictitious, America is no freer than Europe.
First off, the mods don't do shit on /pol/, except to either steal massive board gets, or shitpost in debate threads.
Oh and as for talking about Hitler on /his/, good luck with that. Mods were so fucking scared /pol/ would take it over its now /leftypol/ thanks to them.
>You let the wealthy unelected media moguls and Wall Street do it.
I see, private parties choosing for themselves what they will and won't spend their own resources on disseminating is "censorship".
Keep pumping out those memes, maybe you'll accidentally stumble on a cogent thought.
And I told you what they do instead. It IS a problem, and we know the mods hate /pol/ since most the mods on here are pretty left leaning. moot I think was pretty much a liberal as well
>having a different opinion is edgy
>didn't say nothing about killing you
>didnt say " I'll rape you in front of your family"
>didn't even post gore
>all anon did was have a different opinion
You have no clue what edgy means do you?
Well, I am of the opinion that you all "good" men should be put in front of a good wall and be shot with a good bullet from a good gun and be buried with a good shovel in the good earth.
How does my different opinion sound?
Aww the crybully bootlicker toady wants the government to censor people's opinions because they hurt his feelings abloo blood blood blood :(
No, keep retarded /pol/shitters in their containment board.
I don't want /sci/ flooded with a bunch of >hurr durr librul academia brainwashes you into believing in evolution/climate change threads
So how many appeal to authority points is Žižek worth?
>y-your rights end where my feelings begin
You dont have to justify your bootlicking to me, brah
>strawmanning John Oliver that hard
LOL, /pol/ is SOOO butthurt over the fact that sensible comedians like John Oliver and Lee Camp have become opinion makers, but they couldn't refute a single one of their talks, so they chose to meme them up. Pathetic.
The current year really is brought up a lot by liberals though. They seem to think that history moves towards a certain goal of incomparable human progress, while religion may at one point become the norm again, certain traditions could return, progress in science could stagnate, etc.
>there really are people who think like this
What is this, the 17th century? The Enlightenment has already taken place, my friend.
Try reading more stuff written in the past 2 centuries, mate.
We live in an age of postmodernism, which means that liberals try to get rid of the grand narratives of society. Atheists want to get rid of religion. Feminists want to get rid of patriarchy and traditional gender roles, while the celebration of sexual liberty leads to a decline of traditional family values. Just like any other cultural framework, this is just a fad, a certain narrative, that will one day be replaced by an entirely different one, maybe even a counterculture of some sort.
You again avoid the actual argument and instead said "hurr comedians have great opinions durr" which has nothing to do with the original argument.
>they couldn't refute a single one of their talks
Opinions are not facts, dumbass
My opinion > your opinion
prove me wrong
Protip: you cant
nice strawman though
So again, other than your feelings.
What is free speech and why do you think "hate" doesn't apply to it?
The same applies to you
Are you jealous of Trumps and the right-wing parties growing in Europe eloquence and influence?
They even have a professor back up their claims on why the left and their arguments are wrong
GO BACK TO YOUR SHITTY CONTAINMENT BOARD, STUPID TRUMPPOSTER!
>I have no retort and I must comment
Oy vey! It's another shoah
