Why are generals allowed on /v/? What's the point of /vg/ if people are still making threads like this on /v/ and the mods aren't doing anything about it?

/v/ is one of the fastest moving boards on the site and the last thing it needs are more threads that don't belong there.

At what point do you define something as a "general" thread? Is it just the frequency with which they're posted? Because "once every few days or so" is not anywhere near frequent enough to constitute what I'd consider to be a general thread, where one thread hits autosage and another is immediately started and linked to the previous thread.
More importantly, why do you consider New Vegas threads any different from half of the other on-topic threads on /v/?
Are these all general threads?

Have you been to /fog/? It's a general that discusses anything other than Fallout. Waifufagging, bodyslide crap, diaper fetishes, it's a fucking cesspool of shit. It didn't use to be, not to the degree it is now, but Fo4 changed things. Once the GECK is out, it'll be indistinguishable from /tesg/.
>>
>>405934
They're generals by virtue of discussing nothing in particular. Those threads you listed are just more examples of threads that belong on /vg/.

>>405937
Who said you have to post on /fog/? Make an /fnv/ thread on /vg/ and give /v/ some fucking breathing space.
>>
Should the OP have a few questions to guide discussion?
>>
>>405945
>They're generals by virtue of discussing nothing in particular.
Except they are discussing something in particular. The viedeo games they're about.
>Those threads you listed are just more examples of threads that belong on /vg/.
So yeah, like I was saying, by your definition half the threads on /v/ that are actually about video games are technically off-topic. That's retarded.

>give /v/ some fucking breathing space.
For what? A second LOL thread?

There wasn't any. It was a cheap lazy copout by moot instead of banning them like he should of. Generals don't contribute anything
>>

>Except they are discussing something in particular. The viedeo games they're about.
Like every General on /vg?

>So yeah, like I was saying, by your definition half the threads on /v/ that are actually about video games are technically off-topic
If it's about a single video game, it belongs on /vg/.

Your definition of a general is a thread that gets made more than twice a day. That's blatantly incorrect and retarded.

>For what? A second LOL thread?
Not necessarily. Just threads that don't breach the rules.
>>
>>405971
>Like every General on /vg?
Two boards about video games both have discussions about specific video games, stop the presses.

>If it's about a single video game, it belongs on /vg/.
Except for the overwhelming number of general threads on /vg/ that discuss an entire series or even genre LIKE FOR EXAMPLE THE FALLOUT GENERAL.

>Not necessarily. Just threads that don't breach the rules.
Well, now that you mention it let's check the rules and see if they have anything to say pertaining to this debate.
>6. "Generals"—long-term, recurring threads about a specific game—should be posted in /vg/. This is not to say threads about specific games cannot be created on /v/, just that long-term, recurring threads belong in /vg/.
>This is not to say threads about specific games cannot be created on /v/
So right there the claim that a thread on /v/ can't be about a specific video game is blown out of the water.
You could try to claim that these New Vegas threads are "long-term" or "recurring", but aside from being about the same subject they don't directly relate to each other in any way.

No need to be so butthurt some people on /v/ have actual taste and aren't talking about that shit pile that is 4 and 3, get fucked faggot.
>>
>senran kagura and dead or alive ecchi picture dump generals are up 24/7 on /v/
It's literally anything but video games, its rediculous
>>
Why aren't these "generals" on /vg/ anyway? Why do they need to be on /v/?

/vg/ is a slower board; it takes longer for the threads to die, which often makes for better discussion. /v/ is a hype board packed with shitposters.

/pol/ is no different to /v/ in that a good majority of its posts are shitposters and the majority of its posters are newfags, anon

Ignore this person. He's /qa/'s resident anti-Generals crusader.

He got made fun of and chased out of a general so he's autistically trying to get rid of all generals
