So why aren't videogames with anime style allowed on /v/ anymore? These past days, I've seen completely on-topic Senran and Nep threads get deleted. Isn't 4chan supposed to gear towards Japanese culture? Why do I get the impression that /v/ mods hate anything Japanese?
I don't know but I've abandoned /v/ for good. It's literally the video game equivalent of /tv/. It's fine if you want to shitpost about topics vaguely related to video games, but actual discussion is becoming more and more of an afterthought.
It's funny because as much flack as neogaf gets there, they have a much better Japanese gaming community there.
I have to agree at this point. /v/ is just overrun with Redditors and westacucks who hate anything with an anime artstyle. So much so they shitpost those threads up to the point where they call anime fans pedophiles. Maybe now a split IS needed if this really is happening
>These past days, I've seen completely on-topic Senran and Nep threads get deleted
Because those threads were becoming 24/7 general circlejerks with no new material to discuss and that shit is supposed to stay on /vg/, No conspiracy against Jap shit here, since Tumblrtale is a Western game and gets the same treatment.
>neofag is better
/v/ is shit but compared to Neofag even /v/ is gold. Their weeb userbase gets smaller by the day as mods wage their personal crusade against Jap games.
Mods AND a majority of the users fucking hate anything anime related. The only Japanese games they like are Metal Gear. Shit like Neptunia, Senran, and anything with fan service is either banned from the site, or if you make a thread about it you'll be treated as an outcast by the community
Yes. The whole community is incredibly passive-aggressive and if you disagree with the mod opinions, every post you make will be analyzed for a ban.
Their "Quiet is too sexualized" thread has 50 pages of circlejerking. Their Cologne rape thread is just a couple of pages with half of them feeling sorry for the muslims.
No, 4chan is objectively superior. Unless you're so sensitive and fragile that you must only see posts that confirm your communist beliefs.
>Their "Quiet is too sexualized" thread has 50 pages of circlejerking
I was actually in that one and made one post that was immediately followed by "you're gunna get banned :o" by bunch of SJWs. I just used it as an opportunity to put people on my ignore list.
>4chan is objectively superior.
Yes, but not /v/. Don't scapegoat the entire website when /v/ is the shitstain that we're discussing.
Maybe because they've become generals and have no less game discussion than fucking Persona threads.
Nobody minds something like Valkyria Chronicles for example because it at leas has some discussion on top of the waifu shit, and isn't posted every day.
We should really make /ev/ for Erotic Video Games so I could stop going to ULMF.org and have a nice 4chan place to talk about porn games. There are thousands of porn games on DLSite or similar places.
You've been marked. A couple of more posts like that and you'll get banned. Then you'll come running back to /v/. Happens to everyone. Or you become a mod bitch and start to celebrate PS4 sales numbers and censorship. Up to you.
Please stop using the word "objectively" when what you really mean is "4chan agrees with me more."
I mean, 4chan agrees with me more about the subjects you listed too, but that doesn't make it objective. That just makes it align with your political opinions more.
Anime girl holding her tits/pushing them up to a camera, or pushing her ass/crotch up to the camera, and making lewd faces while heavily blushing, is not highly questionable? I'm sure your boss would love to see that on the wall in the workplace.
Yes it will sometimes.
Global Rule #8. Complaining about 4chan (its policies, moderation, etc) on the imageboards may result in post deletion and a ban.
4chan just kinda sucks at enforcing its own rules a lot.
To post on NeoGAF after being banned, you have to create a new account using another paid email address like from your ISP, work, or school.
To post on 4chan after being banned, you need to reset your router.
This is one of the biggest reasons why 4chan is so full of awful and insufferable people. If you can't clear the garbage out as well, it builds up even more garbage. This place has a reputation of being a cesspool, and some people seem to come here for the sole purpose of upholding that reputation. I know NeoGAF is bad (I saw an active thread about the Wii U get deleted just because because it was old, so that told me enough about them), but the video game boards on 4chan are bad as well, just in a different way. I believe the moderation team on 4chan is good, but a good portion of the userbase is awful because they believe they are expected to be that way.
>I think maybe, with a Japanese owner, it'll go back to its roots
>I wouldn't be surprised if 4chan goes back to its roots and doubles down on just being very nerdy
I have a feeling moot knows that this is extremely wishful thinking and that the exact opposite will probably happen.
If this place hasn't been shut down in 10-15 years, I think it might happen. Some day there will be a famous alternative to 4chan when it comes to anonymously posting your unfiltered opinions. Smartphones and apps are becoming increasingly popular, so it might be in the form of that.
Moot was considering selling 4chan to someone who would do just that: someone who could modernize 4chan and make a profit out of it. He sold it to Hiro instead.
This is impossible. The anonymous system + a fuck ton of people just do not mix.
Owner and admins will either have to radically change how they handle bans or this place will crash and burn for good and be known exclusively for shitposting.
>It's not NSFW, but I'm gonna tell him to stop browsing 4chan at work, lol.
You don't even believe your own bullshit. Look, if you're not gonna enforce the worksafe rules, what is even the point of having blue boards? Also, worksafe means it shouldn't get you fired if you get caught looking at it during work, not "no porn LOL."
>if you're not gonna enforce the worksafe rules, what is even the point of having blue boards?
It's there to stop boards from drowning in porn, not to stop nsfw content being posted, you stupid newfag. Kill yourself
Would you see it in an average workplace? No? Then it shouldn't be posted on a blue board. It's that simple, and you go completely off the hook calling everyone who disagrees with you a faggot. You refuse to allow, or understand, opinions against NSFW content. All because you can't have your boobies everywhere you go. Do you have any idea how childish and selfish you're acting right now? Many people don't want it, and you simply explode about people wanting the rules to be enforced for once. You already have many boards for what you want, so maybe you should stop making a fool of yourself over some reasonable opinions that are backed by the rules.
>Go back to whatever shithole you came from
4chan? Alright, but only because you want me to stay so badly.
Stop being an idiot. 4chan isn't a democracy, its a dictatorship. The mods ARE the ones in power. The Global rules exist for the sole purpose of allowing the mods to do as they please and it always has.
4chan has always been nsfw and allowed this sort of content. Browsing 4chan in a sfw environment is the same as browsing a porn forum in a sfw environment. You wouldn't do that, now would you? You are making a issue when there isn't one. Stupid newfag
There's a legitimate reason for global rule 2, anon.
In 2003, no one really expected people to browse an image board at work, usually filled with questionable content like porn, lolikon and guro.
It's only because of smartphones (and probably r/4chan) that people like you don't really see a problem with this anymore.
> You refuse to allow, or understand, opinions against NSFW content
>rules enforced for once
>backed by the rules
All of this pretty much applies to you more. I'm not the one who's trying to change the way the site has been ran since day one because I want to phoneshitpost when I'm out in public or at work. Nor am I the one who has misunderstood the rules
I don't have a job. I don't visit 4chan in public places. I'm 24. I have no life. I don't do anything important all day. I could masturbate 4 times a day, but I choose not to. My monitor never faces the door. My door is locked. Everyone knocks before entering my room.
>Nor am I the one who has misunderstood the rules
By the way: You did it. You've convinced me that you're trolling.
>using the faq
And that's how I know /you/ are trolling. The faq doesn't have any meaning or barring on the rules. The global rules, again, exist for the sole purpose of allowing the mods to do what they want. They are at best, a guideline on what not to do. NSFW content has always been allowed, you are getting upset about literally nothing. I bet you are glad banner 62 was removed from view as well
4chan has never been sfw in any form, and originally browsing the site you always had a high chance at any moment of seeing cp, loli, porn or guro.. Stop being such a newfag, thinskin faggot. No one is defending posting actual hardcore porn on blue boards, but I'm sure as hell not going to stop posting about to love-ru or tsugumomo on /a/ because you get upset at the sight of a nipple. This argument was already over when nipple mod got the beating he deserved for trying to change the established order
All because he wants boobies on every board. Tits are THAT important to him. 'Your opinions don't matter.' and 'The rules don't matter.' is all I'm reading. Now that's what I call selfish. This kind of thinking reminds me of a certain, highly pompous board... Maybe he wasn't banned from just /v/, but /a/ as well. Maybe he isn't trolling, and really is that self-absorbed.
4chan is made for anime, anon. So, no, it's not self-moderating, because you are the undesirable
I'm kinda tired how you can only get banned on /v/ when you say something bad about Nintendo. Mods also willingly ignore Sony conferences, let Bloodborne shitposting persist while stickying the most useless of Nintendo shit, such as DLC.
People in Nintendo threads probably use the report function. This is part of what self-moderation really is. Report things that are against the rules on the board you're on. Thread starts off well, and then turns into shitposting? Report it. If it receives enough reports, there's a good chance someone will take a look at the thread to see why it received so many reports in the first place.
/a/, and anyone that follows /a/'s idea of self-moderation, is 110% retarded for thinking "self-moderation" means "join in on the shitposting, trolling, and stupidity".
>But if I bump the thread, it will make the thread receive more reports!
No! You fool! That just makes people want to join in on a big thread. People want to join in on what is popular, and they don't care if it makes the board or topic at hand worse or not! Bumping, or even replying to, rule breaking threads and posts is a very bad idea. Many people will search for the biggest and fastest moving threads just to try and be a part of something! How to reduce shitposting, trolling, and other rule breaking posts? Shut your mouth, and report the thread/post.
>/a/, and anyone that follows /a/'s idea of self-moderation, is 110% retarded for thinking "self-moderation" means "join in on the shitposting, trolling, and stupidity".
Stop using /qa/ as your way to determine /a/nons
>People in Nintendo threads probably use the report function.
It wasn't even in a Nintendo thread. It was in a PS4 shitposting thread (which conveniently wasn't deleted) where I counterargued that Nintendo was pulling similar bullshit. That gave me a ban. But the thread stayed up until bump limit. Doubt OP even got banned. It's an open season so long as you're not shitting on Nintendo. Mods have already a proven bias with which threads they sticky and delete.
Not to do with self-moderation? They're replying to garbage threads that look an awful lot like those you can find on /v/. I'm sure I missed a few threads that are full of crap as well.
/a/ is very much like what an awful lot of people say it's like. Not quite as elitist as many people say, but they defiantly oversell themselves when they go to any other board.
Again, none of those have anything to do with self-moderation. I think you have a misunderstanding of what it is. And of cause /a/ is fucking horrible, the entire of 4chan is fucking horrible these days. /a/ used to be good at self-moderation and the like, but no so much anymore. But, at the end of the day, /a/ still manages to be better than all the other boards at the similar posting speed as long as you avoid the generals and generalfags. This is mostly due to the fact it has a constant flow of new content daily/weekly.
>That' based off of subjectivity!
Then it's OK when /v/ thinks it's OK. That sticky was GOOD to /v/.
And what about that Evangelion shitpost thread on /a/ just a few days ago?
Oh, wait. I forgot. It's only OK when /a/ does it. Double standards up the rear and around the corner.
That means is a good thread, right? I mean, it is talking about video games.
That Gachimuchi sticky was on New Years Eve, and it was slightly related to video games as well. Watch the video and you'll see many video game parodies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koLPQRpEAVU Was it a bad idea to sticky it? Probably. Still, /v/ was so awful last year, so that thread was only a good example of what /v/ was in 2015. Fun for the board, and a big insult directed towards /v/, from Hiro and the mods at the same time.
/a/ recieves so much special-snowflake coddling and dicksucking from the mods that anything its mods say is null and void, because they listen exclusively to its crybaby userbase.
>Stop being an idiot. 4chan isn't a democracy, its a dictatorship. The mods ARE the ones in power. The Global rules exist for the sole purpose of allowing the mods to do as they please and it always has.
And yet you're the one who's arguing against the mods making the decision to delete nsfw content. So how the fuck do you even square that circle?
Also, I'm sure you weren't around to remember when people said this, but only newfags call each other newfags.
Not that guy, but the mods don't deserve any of the power here anymore. They really deserve a swift kick in the ass and thrown off 4chan
That's a major problem going on right now as well. Western threads seemingly stay up, while these threads are deleted. If it was up to me, i'd move all Japanese gaming threads to /jp/
Fuck. At least /a/ mods delete the shitposts in the thread instead of the entire fucking thread. I swear to go all anime game threads get this shit all the time because of these shitposters
You have to keep in mind, though, that some shit will never happen because Hiro wants 4chan to be profitable. 4chan is no longer a hobby for moot, it's now a business.
Take something like extensions. It made things way more accessible and easier to shitpost, update the thread, etc. If you got rid of the inline extension and broke external ones you'd cut down on the vast majority of shitposting and people only here to shitpost due to their ADHD. They wouldn't care about updating the thread themselves, having to put in noko or risk losing the thread, and all of the other limitations the old interface had.
But why would he get rid of it? That means less people come and it's less profitable.
>Also, I'm sure you weren't around to remember when people said this, but only newfags call each other newfags.
Some will leave. Yet look at the popularity of meme generator sites and other retarded shit like 9gag and whatnot. Sure, people will leave, but if there's enough retards who will use the site to shitpost, why would he care? It's traffic. It's people who may buy a pass and any other money making ideas in the future. And then there's the diehards who will stay here no matter what state the site is in, which, yet again, is traffic that's useful to the site and advertising revenue.
So, really, he has no incentive to get rid of it. Yet getting rid of extensions and bringing back the older, somewhat clunkier interface would get rid of most of the issues here that aren't about moderation. I'd love to see that happen, but it's an idea that will push users off and Hiro is not gonna do that.
I honestly don't care about OP or /v/'s problems, and I haven't bothered reading through this shitty weeaboo thread, but none of those boards would be appropriate for video games, even if they're Japanese in style.
You know that wouldn't go well. /jp/ is basically /touhou/ with a few generals and it probably doesn't want /v/ crossboarders. /v/ most likely wouldn't stop posting their shit on /v/, anyways. They'll just keep making threads like these complaining that their Japanese threads are getting deleted.
>ED is always right
You can't seriously believe this shit, right?
>most of the current editors are /pol/acks.
Another bigot suffering from /pol/phobia.
/pol/ is a board of peace. Even if some /pol/acks wander onto other boards and shitpost, then it's simply boardism to blame all /pol/acks for the crime.
Please think twice before posting your vile hatred, anon.
>Video games don't belong on the Video game board
>Meanwhile constant off topic threads keep being made
This is why /v/ is so terrible.
Things are getting confusing. First of all, I support the views of poster 1 so I'm actually on his side. I have no idea why he thinks I am one of the annoying /q/fags who hates /pol/, unless it's supposed to be some kind of ironic or sarcastic remark to undermine /pol/'s supposed persecution complex,.
Second, poster 2 seems to think both posts are made by the same poster, namely me, while this is not actually the case.
Third, I'm clearly meme'ing, so I don't understand why poster 2 is taking things so seriously that he thinks I should kill myself in the most painful way possible to atone for my faggotry.
tldr; why so serious?
Actually the westacucks are waging a secret war again the weebs on /v/, They shitpost anime game threads up so badly the mods delete entire threads. The anime game weebs are much different than westacucks are
