What's the point of /wsr/? most people except /a/utists don't have problem with request threads on their boards
>>

Because /a/ fucking hates answering requests. Threads like that got spammed a lot on /a/ and it got annoying because it proved who the newfags were, and /a/ fucking hates newfags.

What should be done is making a sticky on /g/ and moving requests from there over to /wsr/, now that would solve a lot. The same goes for video games, TV shows, basically anything request related should go there, and the mods need to do a better job of enforcing that. I mean they did a shit job enforcing /trash/

Just found this on /wsr/

You could remove the anime requests from /wsr/ and keep them on /a/ and there'd still be a good reason for /wsr/ to exist.

/wsr/ is a place where when you ask for something you don't get banned for not following the "No requests" rule.
>>
>>405311
Then that means fucking getting rid of the request threads on /g/ and /v/
>>
>>405314
The "No Requests" rule is a rule, regardless of whether or not the mods choose to enforce it. Personally I don't like inconsistent moderation. I would much prefer it if people always followed the rules and petitioned for redress if they disagreed with the rules, rather than civil disobedience which feels like whiny crybabies and civil rights leader tactics.

The reason why we (I use "we" liberally, it's mostly a vocal minority of dedicated groupthinkers) don't like rec threads on /a/ is because every thread would be a shitstorm. When it comes to a group having almost no sense of agreement about what is and isn't considered quality within the medium, /a/ is the worst. People tend to hide behind the "w-we don't want the place to turn into MAL!!" slippery slope but in reality it's due to their own posting habits that prevent rec threads from happening.

I mean you're talking about the place that tries to disallow certain anime and manga because they personally don't agree that it's good. It's pure autism and I think most regulars (not you fags who have been there for 1, 2, or 3 years tops) should be able to admit it. The worst part is you used to be able to sniff out good anime/manga recs by simply lurking but with the over abundance of generals and waifu faggotry not even that is possible anymore. We barely discuss anime and manga on a broad scale. It's just the same stupid topics over and over again so even if a newfag was to lurk, he would only find trash.

>When it comes to a group having almost no sense of agreement about what is and isn't considered quality within the medium
Sounds like it's caused by the population being split in various generals, not as bad as /g/ or other boards, but still an issue.

Most people can agree that the "average recommend me some eric anime like mirai nikki"/"overpriced "gaming" hardware" poster is an underage newfriend.

Anime?fuck off
>>
>>405366
very true
4chan was founded to discuss topics you couldn't talk about on reddit, and reddit has an anime board, so really there is no reason for /a/ to exist

Because posting request threads outside of /r/ was/is against the rules. /r/ was basically useless unless you were requesting the source of some shitty porn, so /wsr/ was born.
Request threads are usually made by clueless computer-illiterate normalfags anyway, so it's nice to have a place to contain them.

I like /wsr/. More and more this site is having a board to suit every need. Like generals? You've got your board. You a furry? Nice, you know where to go. Need a question answered? /wsr/ is the place for you. I look forward to seeing what the next board will be. I'm sure people will complain it has "no point" and that there are "too many boards" but that's too bad for you.
