I was thinking about this the other day.
Something like /des/ - Design. Architecture, interior design, industrial design, fashion design, etc. /gd/ could be merged as well since it's a failed board and most threads ironically have more posts than images.
>>337702
I agree with all the above except for fashion design has its own board /fa/ and it wouldn't be just for /gd/ nor it is going to be enough space for all of these together.
/des/ - Design, Architecture. interior design, industrial design, and landscape is best lumped together in one board
I just can't understand how mods haven't realized how popular such board is going to be
>>337632
nigga u got roasted
>>337704
>fashion design has its own board /fa
I get what you're trying to say but nope. /fa/ is more about wearing the clothes rather than the creative process behind them.
>>337714
I still think they are going to make it worse than good board, because if there were such userbase for the type of /fa/ posting you are suggesting, they'd already be doing that there. However, /architecture/ posters are scattered in several boards and everytime a thread is made it becomes instantly popular.
>>337599
take it to /g/ or /his/
>>337832
/his/ is too active for such thing
and also /g/ both with their own separate culture and theme
>>337832
Neither, it's /p/ or /hr/ where you want to put something like this since the intent is mainly sharing pretty pictures of buildings.
>>337843
Are you for real? The entire site is an image board, of course it is about posting images. Yet both /p/ and /hr/ are dedicated for different purposes
>>337599
I want an /arts/ discussion board which would house architecture too and allows high res pics (hr is celebs only)
>>337907
not a bad idea
>>337704
I feel like /3/, /gd/ and an architecture board could be combined. Both /3/ and /gd/ are slow boards and there is other related topics that could be lumped in to the same category. such as architecture, industrial design and maybe even electronic music production (since /mu/ isnt really the right board for that). Not only will this be adding a wider range of topics to the website but it will also lower the amount of boards on the site (since lots of people on /qa/ have been complaining about this).
>>337921
I think that's going to piss off both /3/ and /gd/
>>337930
Yeah, all 100 of them.

It'd be among the smallest boards on the site. It might even break steal /po/'s position.

Call it /arch/
There are loads of sub-communities across many boards that have interests in these areas:
architecture
city planning
interior design
landscaping & gardening.
general infrastructure
So it is a board that would get used for sure.
>>337702
Or even /des/. /des/ covers the design aspect of all the areas and is easy to remember.
>>337930
/3/, almost certainly. It doesn't fit the board. A considerable amount of /3/ isn't architecture-related.
/gd/ also doesn't fit.
Both of those boards are better suited being combined in to a /dev/elopment board for digital works, the digital counterpart to /diy/.
However, one good thing to add to both /arch/ and /dev/ would be a 3D model viewer.
Equally in the case of /dev/, an audio viewer / webms with audio.
/dev/ could be the catch-all for all digital works, games, translation work for games, manga and even anime, music and film, graphics, modelling, etc.
Most large boards have projects of some kind going, and those sub-communities generally aren't the hostile retards that mostly infest the large boards.
Giving them a place to go to to get away from the retards of said boards can only be a good thing.
>>339761
>So it is a board that would get used for sure.
I agree, it will get a lot of users

>>340678
That would make everything become a board.
>>340682
Your concern is right, however that's why it is a suggestion, good points have been made about such board existing on 4chan, and I don't seen any negativity for it to exist, it will attract more visitors to the site and that's the whole goal of making a site in the end.
>>340678
The question is, could it generate enough discussion to fill a board ? If it's just a place to dump pretty pictures of buildings you could do that on an already existing board.
>>340689
>The question is, could it generate enough discussion to fill a board ?
Of course, there are many things to talk about, many topics to cover, even some professionals might find it a useful place to discuss their projects
>>340698

>>340730
So just demanding a board with them together.
I'm very sure that only architecture is not catchy enough.
>>340734
Architecture is the main theme, but the original intention is to include other things like interior design, landscape, urban planning, and design in general.
It is a big part of our lives, it affects us directly, and still it is no where to be seen on hobbies and interests boards

Hiro, get in here. Let's have a talk.
I think /his/ would be the best board to post architecture. I've seen several architecture threads there already.
>>341789
Not really, and I was one of the ones who posted such thing there to test it out. The threads die out soon and you can't expand further than a single thread, meanwhile the purpose of this board is to expand into different topics other than architecture, like interior design, furniture design, landscaping, urban planning...etc and there's not enough room for that on /his/ or any other board
To have a board like this you have to make it broad enough, and I mean BROAD.
>/ar/ - Architecture, Design & Fine Arts
For architecture, interior design, landscapes, sculptures and paintings. Maybe this get the attention?
Now, all your petitions go here http://www.4chan.org/feedback

I know you most likely arn't OP, but since you both seem to want the same thing, I'm going to lump you together. See, you want a fast board IF you want a big board. It allows for more discussion, and in order to have it you must be broad with the topic. /b/ is the fastest board, why? Because it has no topic, its as broad as you can get. /po/ is the slowest board, why? Because paper origami is one very specific niche topic not many people practice.

The architecture boards on lebbit has close to 0.5million subscribers, and they are gaining, but gain is limited due to shitty content and pleb posters. There's a demand for such topic on the internet, and the format 4chan provides can be very good for such topic and will attract lots of anons.

here https://www.reddit.com/r/roomporn
look at the side subreddits and their subscriber numbers and add them with this one, you'll easily get +500k subscribers
It is a vital part of our lives, you can see its effects everywhere, even in the room you are sitting in right now. Same as /g/ when they talk about best techs, or /o/ with best cars, or /k/ best guns...etc /arc/ will be about the best designs, designers, interior design, landscape design, some may post their personal projects or professional work. It has lots of potentials to develop as an active board with good content

>>362932
Fair point.
>>346904
I absolutely love shit like this.
I remember seeing a few great container homes built on things like Grand Designs, George Clarkes Amazing Spaces and on some youtube channels like Fair Companies.
https://www.youtube.com/user/kirstendirksen
One fantastic design that was on Grand Designs recently was 4 containers. Pairs were cut in half and combined together, 2 of them stacked on top of the other 2 perpendicularly.
Actually, this appears to be the full episode right here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2JJoQWAjq0
Just imagine if the trailer industry expanded to build prefab homes. We could create so many cheap homes.
Then you could combine that with a framework to support them and you could easily throw up a few trailer high flats in no time.
Makes for great student homes, first time buyers and sadly junkies.
Combine it with a decent system for access and you could even use it for old folks homes too. A lot of homes recently in the UK are under possible closure because of expenses. RIP oldness.
>>363750

>>366763
Not really, there's a lot to be discussed in this topic, and others within this board. You complaining about images on an image board is the weird thing. The entire site is about dumping images. How different a city pic or a building pic, or even furniture pic than a waifu thread? And I still hold onto my opinion, there can be a large room for discussion on such board, not just dumping pics
>>363750
This is literally the kind of thinking the scumbags in the 60s had when they demolished old beatiful homes to make way for concrete hellholes that quickly formed into ghettos.
Minimalist modernists really need to be dragged out into the streets to be publicly beaten until some sense is beaten into them or they cease breathing.

No, it wouldn't
Design and Architecture boards on blebbit has close to a million subscribers
Here's a suggestion, people who want specific niche boards should be given the go ahead, provided they pay for the waste of bandwidth the board takes up before it fails miserably and gets deleted. Would stop a lot of these shitty threads popping up.
>>374117
I don't think such board is a "niche" it is one of the most discussed topics and one of the few subjects that affects our lives directly. Having separate boards for western porn cartoon for girls with dicks and nippon one is a niche. Having a board that covers architecture, design, interior design, product design, furniture design, landscape, urban planning..etc isn't a niche it is a fucking large enough to have a wide audience.
>>374129
I think a rarely discussed topic counts as niche.
>>374132

>>395356
Just because you don't know what to talk about doesn't mean other people can't.
Some people can't form any meaningful thoughts on music besides saying they like it or not. Other people can spend hours or days discussing how it's put together.
>>395409
On that note, why do people keep using the word sibilant when they're talking about headphones?
>>395356
Are you kidding? It is about discussing the physical space and environment you live in, it has been part of human history since day 1, from caves to skyscrapers and futuristic space colonies. It is one of the main reasons people travel to different places, or even move to new places, it is life altering subject. There are countless topics and issues within this subject for threads to be opened and discussed. From things as little as paint and houseplants to mega structures and new construction methods.
>>395464
>it is a life altering subject
No. And it will just be filled with retarded trolling about le cheap fibre board housing maymays, and Frank Loyd Wright is the GOAT Architect of all time shitposting.
>>395478
Not really, I've been in many architecture threads in different boards, and they tend to be the most civil threads, with the exception of hatred towards modern architecture. Also, are you implying that all boards don't have their own brand of shitposting? Having a culture of shitposting is a 4chan trademark and the byproduct of any board that was created on this site. Finally, you think it doesn't affect your life is just retardation.
>>395486
Yeah but how are you actually going to discuss architecture? Like, physically, what are you going to talk about in practice?
>>396936
When it comes to architecture, I think there are plenty of things to talk about, architecture design schools, architectural periods, buildings and projects (local, national, global & by size small to big), architects, particular architecture design features, construction materials, construction methods, planning. And then you have within that different themes for the threads based on the building use (residential, commercial, public, industrial)..etc
And that's while just talking about Architecture, the board will also contain (Interior design, furniture design, landscaping, product design, industrial design, civil structures, urban planning, materials and lighting discussions...etc)
And each one of these can unfold into tens if not hundreds of sub topics, so the short answer would be is that it has the most when it comes to numbers and variety of topics to talk about among all boards.
