I remember renting 300 right after it came out on DVD and thinking it had some pretty funny moments. After googling said moments, I discovered ED, and obviously, that led to /b/.

I regret not finding it sooner and missing out on the real "good times."

some time around 2007 I stumbled on encyclopedia dramatica thinking it was something like Wikipedia, I slowly started noticing something was off about it.

I didn't actually go on 4chan yet, I spent my time basically reading about it. I became enamored with the myth and history of 4chan, anonymous, and similar sorts of 'boss of the internet' groups (like gnaa). the raids, the jokes, the culture, the whole shebang. I think it made me something of a zealot for imageboard values, I started getting upset by things like 'newfags' before I even knew the word (I didn't count myself since of course I was so much better informed than those plebs).

I didn't actually post on 4chan itself until sometime in 08 because I was paranoid about doing anything online (the interest in raiding didn't help) and my browser settings wouldent let me post. it wasn't till later that I realized I needed to enable js, but till then it was a sort of involuntary lurking period (I think it actually did good).

I heard about 4chan somewhere back in 2009, scoped it out but didn't find it too interesting back then. In 2011 or so I decided to come back, found /g/ and officially started my ride

Then I went to imgur. I've been lurking there for maybe 2 years, but always hated that "circlejerk" culture that apparently came from reddit.

About 15 months ago, there was a huge influx of "best of 4chan" images. I knew 4chan before, but there was no catalogue function and the design took some time to adjust. Those best of images were always much better than the whiney bullshit and children stories. They were so much fun and I had to laugh so goddamn hard, since the humor was just like mine and so unconventional for reddit, that I had to check the source.

4chan went hand in hand with z0r and I was bound to check out the origin of the many shitty gifs that found their way into z0r. Needless to say I wasn't surprised that /b/ turned out the way I have imagined it.
But it was so shit and random that I immediately felt at home, pressing F5 every once in a while. I went there once a week, then twice, thrice, once a day, daily, using 4chan as my starting browserpage, migrating into /a/, /f/ and /x/ whereas nowadays I am only active lurking on /a/ and /x/.

Though I visit 4chan since 2006, I still consider myself a newfag and I have no problem admitting it.

Think I was about 15-16. Cant remember my initial reaction to 4chan and especialy /b/, but I dont think it was very positive at first.

I guess I have a pretty normie life, school, friends etc, I just browse 4chan while I do alot of other stuff on my computer, it's just there in the background.

I probably wont leave 4chan, dont see any reason to, unless some major alterations take place. It's one of the few last bastions of unfiltered information.

4chan is like an old friend, he has his bad sides at times, but you stick together because you've been trough alot and despite everything, you have a good time together.

I was 13-14 years old and a freshman in high school. After school, a bunch of friends were playing YGO and I started to look some info up for them on my Motorola Razr. I ended up finding a hentai pic of dark magician girl and being a horny little fuck I followed the link and found myself on Encyclopedia Dramatica. Naturally as a little edgy 14 year old kid I found that shit hilarious and started to consume every bit of content on the site.

Obviously, from there I found out about 4chan and decided to browse /b/. I thought that was cool for a few months before I found out that /v/ was a thing and I decided to post there. Then I started getting into anime so /a/ and /jp/ became my thing, /b/ just sort of disappeared into the horizon and I visited /v/ less often.

That was back in 2007 and after 8 years, while I don't browse as much as I used to, I check in at least once every day. Mostly on /g/ now, but I check out /a/, /vg/, and /co/ on occasion.

God I got really emotional and nostalgic over the past eight hours. It was fun remembering all the good times.

I think it was 2007 or something. I lived in an apartment with two friends, a girl and a guy. One day the girl was not home and we were home together with the guy, smoking pot and watching some documentary on the TV about some guys who had plastic surgery to ridiculously enlarge their dicks and balls. The first online community I ever really took to was the Newgrounds BBS (I was big into flash animations and games back into the day). I was probably active on there from 2005-2006, wherein I was AWARE of 4chan, but I preferred the traditional forum format of the BBS to 4chan's anonymous imageboard format. I remember one of my reasons for disliking 4chan at the time was that I wouldn't have a post-count or anything to indicate how long I had been browsing, and thus, couldn't wave my e-peen around.

Anyway, as 4chan started to gain popularity around that time, I started to browse around mid-late 06' or so, and found that I really enjoyed /b/. I was a /b/tard for a long time, but I later branched off to other boards like /k/, /v/, and /a/. From there, it's just history. I wish I still had all of the images I had saved from those days.

I remember that day well, I hopped on the /b/andwagon smack dab in the middle of all this boxxy shit. I've never missed a beat since and it's been six years and a little over three weeks since I've regulared 4chan.
Somehow I managed to find a picture of bueno excellente wayy back in 07, must've saved it from a page on ED I guess. I've been lurking 99% of my time here and today I've probably shat out half as many posts I've ever put up on 4chan.

Around 2005-2006 I was a notorious shitposter (10-11 at the time) on a Yu Gi Oh tcg forum. At some point someone will have mentioned 4chan and I will have viewed it. Didn't come back properly til 2011 unfortunately.

I was around 13 and founda thread on go-gaia about how horrible 4chan was and that nobody should visit that site. My curiosity got the best of me and here I am.

My parents always watched fox news, so when I was younger I thought of it as a dangerous site inhabited by pedos. Eventually in high school, I heard some edgy friends bragging about browsing /b/ (only for porn and laughs of course), over the course of a year or two I started browsing it more and more and realized how unique the culture was, been here for a while now

Around 2008-09. I came here out of curiosity because of how much people said this place was horrible.

I went to /b/ first, then /v/, then the rest of the boards. Lurked for a few months to get the hang of things. And then you guys became my friends and the rest is history.

I remember the first image I ever saw on 4chan was an ultimatum on /v/: "You must choose one of the following: Claire will let you lick, suck and fuck her armpits for 24 hours, or a lifetime supply of choco tacos." I'll never ever forget that.

An image led me to /b/ in 2006 or so. It was similar to this, though I can't say for sure if it was a demotivator because I don't know when those kicked off.

I think the OP was a sunrise or something and the post was something like "It's another beautiful day /b/, what should I do?" and the response was obviously "kill yourself".

I remember the pre-captcha days so well, red squares and all.

Was around 2006, /b/ raided the forums of some BYOND Naruto game. Ended up spending about 8 months there then lurked on /v/, /a/, /m/ and a couple other boards.

I only really browse /m/, /ck/ and /fa/ now.

Somewhere around 06 or 07 I was on Something Awful reading a discussion about how terrible and awful 4chan was. Out of curiosity I decided to check out how bad it was.

I've stayed longer than I meant to.

ED in the Spring of 2008, then helping a bunch of /b/tards raid some shitty game called Ikariam and then finally beginning to post on /tg/ in late summer and /a/ in early fall around the time Code Gayass ended and Ledouche finally died

It was all a mistake because every year that passes this site becomes worse, but I think at this point it's less of a fall from grace year after year and more like shit on top of more shit and thus "becoming worse" just means more reposts of old and stupid memes that are no longer funny by teenagers who were born after January 1st, 2000

Other chans created in protest of moot's faggotry and the declining quality of this website are a nice window to the past, but ultimately futile because those too will either fade away as oldfags give up or turn to shit as more post-1990s teenagers move in to those places thinking that they're being so edgy for shunning mainstream sites like 4chan
