What is the difference between bookfags who primarily read fiction and animefags? Both are deeply submerged in escapism, only they consume another form of media. What is the difference between blabbing on about the redeeming qualities of Achilles' character in The Iliad and the timidity of Sagiri in Eromanga Sensei? One hobby is regarded as an intellectual pursuit that is worthy of devoting countless hours to and the other is considered a simple distraction for degenerates. Is it because narratives from older and contemporary literary classics are generally better than those found in anime? Is it because televised media already has a negative reputation, however false, as something that's designed for audiences with short attention spans? What could it be, /qa/?

I know there is absolutely no chance of this happening, but I'm posting it here anyway because some people like talking about this stuff and you never know if someone else will get an idea for their alt-site.
Many of you will probably disagree but that's ok because you're idiots. This plan is guaranteed to work, guaranteed.
It's difficult to realize just how big 4chan has gotten sometimes and everyone always just wants to blame the negatives on "it's just how the community is, no other reason behind it". But changing the way simple things are done on 4chan could really have large effects on the community and its attitudes, especially for a community growing as cramped as 4chan is today.

So without further ado:
1) Get rid of thread bumping and get rid of all catalog sorting methods other than creation date.
2) Every thread lasts at least 24hrs - Dynamically adjust the maximum page count by looking at the creation date of the last thread (if it's younger than 24hrs then it can be pushed out to page 11, 12, etc.. until it's 24hrs old then start pruning)
3) "Sub-threads". No I'm not talking about nested posting display. In the main thread no sub-posts are shown, but any post containing sub-posts would have a link to its sub-thread. And make it a Global Rule that off-topic posts which receive sub-replies must continue the conversation in their sub-thread, trying to continue in the main thread may result in a ban. This would massively reduce runaway shitposting and troll feeding.

These are the changes necessary to allow 4chan to properly transition into the large community it is today but without feeling like a chatroom, or allowing all the tribal internet wars and activism campaigns to dominate things.
