Just decided to stop working, it kept shutting itself off every few seconds and asked me to format it. Earlier today I dismantled the box and just put the hard drive inside of my computer to see if it worked. It kinda did, but it still asked me to format it. Downloaded some software to scan it, but sadly the formerly external hard drive still shuts itself off every hour or so, which isn't enough time for me to properly recover my data. Read somewhere online that Seagate hard drives have a bad tendency of breaking down after a while, which is kind of worrying since my other almost completely full external hard drive is also of the same brand. I'll have to back that up, but backing up 3TB of data isn't something you just do on a whim.
