Why are people so mean on 4chan?
>>1556290
Being anonymous allows you to distance yourself from all these people and pretend it's just a game. You can say whatever you want and it won't matter. Maybe, that leads to some people being true to themselves and saying what they really feel, but more often I think it just allows people to put a mask over their face and act uncaring, when if they ever met these people in real life they wouldn't feel so hateful and spiteful. In that sense it actually makes people less true to their nature, because they're able to pretend their actions don't have consequences and that they're not dealing with real people.
passive aggression is considered a valid argument by the circlejerk, and those with the emotional intelligence of infants subjects others to such in an attempt to make themselves feel better about the fact that they're triggered

Because they can and their action have no consequence on themselves.

Sometimes I think /qa/ needs more users, but I don't know where or how to attract them to /qa/.
How do you feel about the current /qa/ population/activity, excluding trolls and spam?
This board is literally 99% trolls and spam, though.
It's terrible.
Bring them from s4s.

We tried that already.
Let's have a thread about piracy.
I think piracy is pretty essential for a comfy NEET lifestyle.
Where do you get most of your media?
Do you use public or private sites?
DDL? Streaming?
Do any of you buy all/most of your media legitimately?
Maybe some of you are plebs and use only netflix or whatever.
For comparison, netflix's entire library is somewhere around 11,000 titles.
Private trackers:
BTN has 19,750~ TV series.
PTP has 143,400~ movies.
And other niche trackers for books, porn, whatever have almost anything you would want.
Discuss filesharing and piracy ITT. And maybe how it pertains to NEET life.

Why do people hate streaming when it's objectively the safest way to pirate media?
>>1555822
Quality. Intrusive ads. Garbage connections. There are plenty of valid reasons for not streaming.
Private trackers are extremely safe.
Also, seedboxes and VPNs exist. If you use them on public torrent trackers you aren't going to get a DMCA notice or anything.
>>1555819
>Where do you get most of your media?
Only public sites. I hate the stress of dealing with the private trackers.
>DDL? Streaming?
Definitely prefer having it on my drive.
>Do any of you buy all/most of your media legitimately?
I buy stuff from small studios most of the time.
I don't really care to blog about being a hiki, so I'll just say that I still feel guilty for pirating, but it makes my life tolerable.
I wish people on 4chan would stop bullying me.
maybe you should stop being so GAY

I, for one, welcome our spammer overlords.
/qa/ has been trying to cement its self as a sort of 4chan faux-oldfag Internet historian board, when it hasn't been faced with interference. It's something completely contrary to the ephemeral nature of Futaba boards and culture.
Lurkmoar, ED, and the whole lot of Meme and Internet Historians are diametrically opposed to the very soul of this place, even in this day when the rose tined glasses of nostalgia seem more appealing than ever before.
No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river, and he's not the same man.

You're anonymous, if you say something it won't follow you unless you want it to. Don't think of your posts on 4chan as your posts, think of them as any other post from anyone else. That way you also won't get addicted to (You)'s so you won't post crap for attention. Just post what you feel while being aware of yourself and where you are, but also keep an open mind. Be smart.
Have you ever felt bad for a post you made?
>guy is praising something he likes
>call that thing trash
>he gently educates me on it while remaining very polite and even includes a nice reaction image
I tried to be nice about it in the past, I really did. Now I give a short example of what I mean and report them if they keep shitposting it. Sometimes what I like is self-explanatory, or they just make a bottom of the /b/arrel shitpost right off the bat and I report them without even trying to explain it. It would be great if mods would actually do something and if ban evasion wasn't a thing. I'm pretty good at reporting and don't simply report people with different opinions, only opinions that shit on the topic.
Sometimes, yes.
That whole "he who fights monsters" phrase rings as true as ever. Hanging around mean people can lead me to making mean remarks and I shouldn't let it get to me. I apologize if there's time to, but often it happens when it's too late.
Yes, I've made three really bad posts. One was on /b/ 6 years ago, the other two were done about two year ago or so on my homeboard. I felt tremendously sad after reading the responses to the mean and dispiriting words I expressed on all three occasions. Incidentally they were all posts I briefly assessed to be over-the-top but still chose to post since I was irked at the times. They were all petty replies to genuine opinions too.
Those incidents are the reason why I try to avoid trying to shit on anyone's opinion and only pour scorn on bad behaviour like off-topic things or breaches of netiquette.
