I picked up one box of eggs and it literally said on it "caged hens were used for these eggs", presumably due to some regulation. It was cheaper than the free range alternative but fuck that.

Free range chickens are a scam. They're just held in what looks like an aircraft hangar, packed side by side where they spray their waste all over each other constantly just like in a normal chicken farm.

You can find pigs/cows/hens/etc that were fed proper food and given a proper space to live in, but it probably won't have some mass-market label on the product. If it's a major brand and on sale in a regular grocery store, then it's probably same old shit regardless of price.
