We don't even have a gun registry in this state. They have literally no way of finding the vast majority of these guns. Now that background checks are more comprehensive and FFLs are required to keep better track of gun sales they know where they go when they're transferred, but they're under no obligation to actually tell the ATF without subpoena and even then there's no way of knowing that they weren't gifted, traded, sold, lost, stolen without being reported, etc.

The only method of enforcement they have would be reactionary. IE, if you get pulled over, frisked, or somehow otherwise caught with an "illegal" gun they would confiscate it and you would face penalty under law. Door to door confiscation is literally impossible and it will never happen. I don't think the police would even try if they -had- to.

New York state is only the way it is because the assembly doesn't get payed enough to pay for their house at home and their house in Albany, which they need because NY is so big, so they take all sorts of bribes from fucking everyone including Cuomo who probably also takes bribes himself.
