>>61147903 >anonymous >no moderation of hate speech >almost the entire internet is the other way You got it pretty much, there's an adverse selection for the far-right. Then >echo-chamber effect: people who can't stand our opinions leave, so they're unchallenged and reinforce themselves
4Chan was initially promoted on other degenerate websites who promoted the website to their degenerate friends, all of whom were bullied in high school and sought for solace in ultranationalism
All the underage newfags and babbystaffel that chugged in in the past few years thought that 4chan was an edgy website and that they'd be cool if they browsed it frequently, and eventually they started following with the popular opinions that were permeated massively on the website without any resistance
>>61148367 >>61148169 It makes more sense if you consider this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigredo >For Carl Jung, 'the rediscovery of the principles of alchemy came to be an important part of my work as a pioneer of psychology'. As a student of alchemy, he (and his followers) 'compared the "black work" of the alchemists (the nigredo) with the often highly critical involvement experienced by the ego, until it accepts the new equilibrium brought about by the creation of the self'. Jungians interpreted nigredo in two main psychological senses. >The first sense represented a subject's initial state of undifferentiated unawareness, 'the first nigredo, that of the unio naturalis, is an objective state, visible from the outside only...an unconscious state of non-differentiation between self and object, consciousness and the unconscious'. Here the subject is '"too conscious"...in reality unconscious of the unconscious; i.e. the connection with the instincts'.
>>61148685 >>61148367 >>61148169 >In the second sense, 'the nigredo of the process of individuation on the other hand is a subjectively experienced process brought about by the subject's painful, growing awareness of his shadow aspects'. It could be described as a moment of maximum despair, that is a prerequisite to personal development. As individuation unfolds, so 'confrontation with the shadow produces at first a dead balance, a standstill that hampers moral decisions and makes convictions ineffective or even impossible...nigredo, tenebrositas, chaos, melancholia'. Here is 'the darkest time, the time of despair, disillusionment, envious attacks; the time when Eros and Superego are at daggers drawn, and there seems no way forward...nigredo, the blackening'.
>>61147903 Because the truest criticisms of our society speak the loudest.
It just so happens the establishment is currently left leaning, so now we lean right. Before that the office was right leaning, so then they leaned left... Everyone's just pissed at the establishment which is croney capitalism seemingly completely undermining the concepts of free enterprise, but now /pol/ is louder than ever before because free enterprise is being utterly devolved by the state and society. Seriously, name one thing or trend currently common in American society that is healthy for the human psyche...
>>61149401 No, I think if you pose a question like the one you did, then connect it with a picture about human morality, i think you are doing an intense disservice to how conservatives or leftists actually think. Because it's not like either side tries to go out and commit evil. They both think they are acting for the greater good. It's just, right now, one exists in a greater state of delusion than the other.
Vastly, 4chan is very politically and economically naive, and thus, are quite leftist... Whether they realize it or not. They are mostly atheists, mostly pro socialism, anti Republican, anti Trump, anti religion, and much more. We don't notice because most of them don't talk about it, they're not interested... But mention that Bernie Sanders will be bad for the US on something like /b/, prepare to get huge amounts of autistic fury heading your way.
>>61149519 The left actually believes the right is evil. They're fervent adherents to the religion of equality. To them achieving a perceived progress toward equality is the greatest good you can possibly partake in and trying to hinder that is pure evil. The right is grounded in some degree of realism at the bare minimum at that makes them evil.
4chan used to have a huge liberal/left contingent. For example occupy Wall Street had huge support at the time (you can also see pictures of protestors wearing anon masks - South Park even parodied this).
Then when Reddit exploded there was a liberal/left exodus, leaving the demographics of the site forever changed.
>>61150191 >For example occupy Wall Street had huge support at the time (you can also see pictures of protestors wearing anon masks - South Park even parodied this). My young friend, Anon masks had nothing to do with 4chan by then, even if the original 4chan-Anon connections were edgelords protesting churches or whatever. Back then /pol/ shat on Occupy. Maybe 4Chan as a whole didn't but /pol/ certainly did, and has been pretty far-right since its inception as /new/. I don't have the pic anymore, but an old classic back the day compared the 1% of America to the 99%. 1% were cultured and educated millionaires while the 99% were lazy worthless minorities etc.
>>61150191 nope. that stuff started when mainstream attention hit 4chan after the scientology thing, where the new people had mistakenly thought anonymous to be a legitimate vigiliante group. these people very quickly left 4chan and organised themselves through shit like facebook. they've barely had anything to do with us ever.
4chan is contrarian to it's core and what constitutes the mainstream online is basically what party the US president is, so when bush was in power we were boasting about how we fap to traps and how much weed we smoke and had anti-religious and anti-corporate leanings (that you can still see with "Anonymous" that broke off in 07, for all the newfags that think it's always been this way)
but now Obama is in power so it's the edgy thing to be anti-LGBT and make fun of atheists and be conservative and uhhh just shut up about smoking weed since a lot of people still do it but will get made fun of
if Trump wins it will flip flop right back
one thing though is it will always be edgy to be racist so we'll be hollering nigger until the day the site is shut down
Because the userbase is majority white males, 18-30, who grew up in a middle class family.
The right wing is perfect for them because it actively promotes policies that favor them while at the same time disenfranchising everyone else. A bunch of cruel disgusting motherfuckers on here. They're all so arrogant with unwarranted self importance while at the same time being bland awkward ass white guys with no social life. No wonder 4chan called the asshole of the Internet. /pol/ is the boil on that asshole.
Pic related: the type of white people who post here
We'll just have to see what happens, but that doesn't seem likely. I bet that after tasting the reality of the world, most people would never go back to being liberal or left, in its modern sense.
If, however, the left were to change to be a more rational force that actually cares for the wellbeing outside of spoiled well off brats, which is in fact the driving force behind these 'progressive' values, then you might see a left wing /pol/.
But in all honesty it'll probably always remain NatSoc at heart, as it is the ultimate counter-culture to the cultural marxist bullshit that will likely never go away.
>>61152479 You can take a look at this retard that genuinely believes the drivel that he's spewing to get an idea of why people here will never be 'progressive' lel. As long as these retards dominate the overton window, 4chan will remain conservative.
>>61152608 It's only "drivel" (who the fuck even says that in casual conversation) because it makes you uncomfortable. Reality tends to do that. I'm only holding up a mirror anon, if you're disgusted maybe you should evaluate some things.
>>61148039 If by counter culture you mean filthy contrarian hipster then I agree.
>>61150622 Probably not right away, but eventually. It's not just about who's president, but how the majority of society feels about certain issues. The eventual public backlash when normies are tired of liberal feminist/gay rights/blm bullshit and swings to the right will in turn make the next batch of 4chan newfriends swing to the left as a knee jerk response to the resurgence of conservative values.
To answer your question NSA ... >>61147903 I'm farmboy / big city liberal as fuck on a lot, but also right winged (& libertarian ) >Roads & infrastructure don't grow on trees >You'll pry my guns from my dead hands >I'm voting for Bernie cuz corporations aren't people >some babies shouldn't be born u faggot >I have zeal for Trumps bravado & balls >etc., etc., ... & I want kebab EXTERMINATED from my grandparents continent
>>61152773 But you're not holding up a mirror, and you're purposely distorting the truth for whatever reason I don't know. But that reason is probably because you're genuinely not very intelligent and believe some very stupid things, and when confronted with challenges to your ideas that you predictably cannot overcome, you resort to trying to debase an entire group of people.
That's what I'm getting from you here. Kind of disgusting, but I guess it's to be expected on your part desu
>>61153438 It's funny because this place is by no means an echo chamber, which is exactly why NatSoc often prevails among other ideologies in this environment.
>>61153542 Sure thing, nothing to do with getting gang stomped every time you point out something outside the herd mentality. You dont even get fuck of jew anymore. Now people pretend you are an embodiment of your whole fucking country
>>61153828 Mate I don't know what to tell you, if you have dumb beliefs in a place where people can say whatever they like, you're going to be ostracized for being a retard. If these beliefs weren't so retarded they'd hold up under scrutiny better and you'd have more people defending them, and it wouldn't seem like an echo-chamber, which it isn't.
After so many people trying and failing to defend retarded beliefs people stop taking it seriously, because it just can't be taken seriously. Maybe now you understand why it looks like an echo-chamber even though it is by definition the opposite
>>61154912 /his/ is pretty much a battleground for revolutionaries and reactionaries, It shouldn't exist as a board; humanities are studied through literature, instead of fixing neo-/lit/ they tried to emulate paleo-/lit/ which was traditional conservatism but failed.
4chan in its early days up until the 2010s was significantly left wing and was mostly a strange strand of Libertarianism desiring a free market, more civil rights, disinterest towards immigration and drug legalisation. This was because society on a whole seemed to favour a right wing moral design based on right wing victories in America and Europe.
As the Democrats rose to power, society shifted to the left. This 4chan became more right wing. /pol/, the contrarians to the contrarians, no longer became ostracized from 4chan but began to be seen as its leader.
>>61149005 I haven't seen cheese pizza used in a hit minute. Then again I haven't been on /b/ for about two years now. Surprised a few oldfags hang out. Thought your breed left to chill with hot wheels
>>61155494 Yeah, most have shifted to the fake right like the British Conservatives. UKIP, Swedish Democrats, FN etc all remain outside the political sphere despite polls showing otherwise. Few countries have actually shifted to the proper right like Poland, Switzerland and Norway.
>>61148039 I feel like this has a lot to do with generations. Most of the youth today hang out at reddit, however, the old fags stuck around and developed conservative views naturally, also, spreading them here.
/b/ is full of Bernie cucks though
