I think Sanders honestly has no idea what he would be up against if he were brought against Trump. Trump hits Kasich at every debate and every other candidate was playing second fiddle to Trump last night - Kasich's comments on "we don't hate the rich, we want to be the rich" and the various times he said he agrees with him actually help Trump more than anything.

Christie can't recover from Rand's "well if you want ww3, here's your candidate" at the December debate. Rand and possibly Cruz are the only ones who still pose a threat to Trump. We'll have to wait till the first post-debate poll comes out to see if Cruz is still a contender; Shapiro's analysis that winning early is most important is spot-on unfortunately, but Cruz's comments on NY definitely made the rounds.

Tl;dr: we have to wait till the polls come out to see what the outcome of the debate actually was, but it should most probably lean in Trump's favor. Cruz is the only one who still poses a threat outside of a possible Rand rebound.

And of course, the debate on the 28th will have everyone come out all guns blazing. Trump is weak at debates but he shouldn't face anything as damaging as last night if he's careful.

Cruz: Now that he has the spotlight more eyes are on him then ever which is exactly what a weasel like him doesn't need but thinks he wants. Trump was right to say that he needs the Canadian cloud off of his head because it will effect his running. Also if more people tune in and see him for the flip flopping snake he is then he stands no chance. On the debate floor his slick as the devil, but Trump doesn't dominate through that channel

Bush: Needs to go home already but before he does he needs to endorse whoever he thinks has an honest to god chance of beating Trump if that's what he is after. If he makes it to the final 4 or 2 I doubt he'd hold up. If he by a miracle wins then the Repubs lose, no one is going to vote for a 3rd Bush.

Kasich: Irrelevant; made a few nice jabs (his Bernie attack was pretty funny) but he needs to go down to the kiddy table and I'd gladly sacrifice him to bring back Paul or shit bring up Santorum.

Christie: Radical even for the Repubs, Rand destroyed him with the WWIII comments and I doubt he has much ammo left

Carson: Wonderfully nice, deserves some kind of a chance to do something in government after all of this but sadly doesn't stand much of a chance. I think he entered because he was tired of the same old same old from the GOP and was vehemently against the new PC culture, only Trump stole his thunder on both counts and now he seems to just be a less exciting Trump

As for Trump; well read the rest of my comments in the thread. He seems unstumpable and even more aptly put indescribable. We have never seen a candidate like this before, the closest thing we had was Reagan I suppose or maybe even TR if anyone can remember that far back but the way Trump works is literally mind boggling. People are gonna be writing about this election for years to come and its all thanks to Trump, no matter who wins Trump will have changed American political history, for better or worse.

I think he will finally shift the Republican party and for the better. The Republicans have become way too distant from their former selves. They used to rally the common man through an appeal to religious values going hand in hand with common sense policy, but they've recently been taken over by religious zealotry (I'm speaking as an outsider looking in) and corporatist stooges who are a far away shadow of what they used to be. There is a growing Libertarian wing in the party which leaves me happy and I hope that side of the party finds the candidate that will really resonate with not only the party but with the public. But that day is clearly not today, and I think Trump is what the party needs right now, if anything to bring it back to life.

Yeah, the whole thing was definitely stacked in Cruz's favor. The questions, the audience. He got the first question and spoke the most. Once Cruz begins collapsing that will change. If Cruz loses Iowa, I predict Trump will be the front runner by a huge margin. 20 or so points. The Canadian Gambit is already working. Trump is leading in Iowa again and Cruz fucking crashed down 7 points and shows no signs of slowing.
