Jim Webb, Trump could get Webb to agree, would be the smartest choice.

Webb brings Virginia, a swing state. He shores up the veteran vote that is already leaning Trump, he brings blue dog Democrats, and he infuses the Trump campaign with foreign policy credibility. In addition, he allows Trump to demonstrate that Trump is a uniter willing to seek out reasonable Democrats and work with them on Republican terms.

Strategically, Webb is perfect.

Kasich would be the best choice. He's relatively harmless, has experience on both Wall Street and K Street, used to work for Fox News, and supports most of Trump's goals.

The fact that you can't take the White House without taking Ohio, as well as the GOP convention is hosted in Cleveland this year, kind of makes it a no brainer.

Ohio's unemployment rate is 4.5% right now, even with the fracking layoffs. In NW Columbus area it's 3.7%. The area is booming.

Realistically Trump will bring one of his own guys considering he trash talks and probably genuinely dislike 95% of career politicians.

The Randlet could be a smart move. Rand gets to shill against the Fed 24/7 and is one of the very few people that the shadow establishment wants even less as a president than Trump so no risk of "accident" of assassination. Since he represents another wing of the party, he would insure mass voting turnout of Republicans and would make it harder on Shillary to portrait the opposing ticket as Hitler 2.0.
