If I was born in any part of the Middle East, do I have a choice or do I have to be Muslim? What is the safest place in the Middle East for someone who is Westernized, Jewish, Christian, etc.? Does such a place exist?

My best friend is a Jordanian Coptic Christian. He says his family traces their ancestry back over a thousand years, all in the same ancient city. I think Jordan is pretty aight for Christians.

Not true at all. Christianity has always had strong roots in Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. While it's not safe because of ISIS but before Syrian Orthodoxy was the second largest religion in that region.
