I have a friend that comes from one of the powerful Korean families that basically run the country. I won't get into it but basically he did something that his family wasn't happy with and he's going to get "kicked out" of his family (forced to change his last name among other things).

Why are they doing that? My interpretation is basically it's to protect the name of the family and to set an example for future generations and it keeps the family strong internally and preventing degeneracy. I feel like I'm pretty spot on here though.

Korean politics were okay until the last two presidents. The root of our problems started with the Korean war to be exact.

We didn't get to establish our own democracy and US babied us into it, and so our politicians were greedy pigs that tried to exploit the general population more until the Dictator (father of Park Grun Hye) stepped up. I think he is prety much the only Dictator in the world that created long term benefits for a country. Although he controlled everything, he let the economy up to the people. Strict rules on everything with bunch of nationalists from the war who want better life was an amazing success and korea multiplied its GDP by x10 in less than 20 years. People loved him and older people like him still.

This is where problem begins.

Those older people vote for Park GH because she is basically their princess. They will back her and not think twice about it. And due to decrease in birth rates and a decrease in voting youngsters, we have 30% of the country deciding how everything is run. The old are crippling our country right now, letting PGH run wild.

She already changed cabin members, infected every single senator's positions, all because she gets votes. When she tells people to not vote for someone, they won't. SHe controls everything now and democracy is losing its footing now all because of this cunt and a bunch of old people that stopped thinking for themselves.

Then came assimilation and trying to remove Korean culture and identity altogether and even trying to kill off our royal lineage by marrying the royal pretender to a supposedly barren princess of theirs (thanks to God she gave birth to two sons). Mind you I do like the said princess, as she was a generous person who cared for the Korean people.

Unfortunately, I will concede that there are problems with the Korean government as of now. Reunification is not possible with the world's eyes on both Koreas, which became puppet governments to the two dialectics of those times, and pretty much our only legacy is a series of unstable republics for a period of 70 years that makes even France look politically stable.
