I love Bill Burr but this show is pretty shit. The only funny bits are him ranting and the rest of the characters are filler.

If he livestreamed his reactions to sporting events it would be more entertaining than this show by a long shot without any hack writing required.

First 2-3 episodes were kinda fucking mediocre. Then as it went on it actually started to develop into a consistent chain of events with actual character development.

I think people think its shit because of the first few episodes honestly. People went in expected shit to be set up already like most shitting modern shows but it wants you to stomach through the early stages of character development most people aren't used to in a cartoon.

Pretty much this. Story lines were pretty good, a call back to the old style "moral fiber" shows. Jokes were pretty alright, but its the first season so you can't expect perfection. The characters relatively forgettable and I wish they would show the redeeming qualities so you like them more, but they come into their own.

I hope it picks up in season 2. It's definitely lazy but I'm hoping it's just them clearing their throats while they try to figure out who is going where and who is important. The whole business with his wife and the plastic ware was interesting, especially considering the ending.

It has interesting developments and it reminds me of the stories my mom told me about her childhood. I'm not sold on it as a comedy, but I like watching it as an exaggerated narrative about the 70s and what I'm assuming was Burr's choildhood.

This. It definitely reminded me of King of the Hill as far as tone.

The Dad is such a fleshed out realistic character. The rest of the characters aren't quite as fleshed out but it worked for what it was.

My only major gripe was the gratuitous swearing. It felt like a crutch sometimes. Being crude for crude's sake isn't funny. When the dad character did it though, it was funny.
