In the bible it says that god gave us dominion over the earth. We are to exist to work the land.

god did not task us to create something to pass over the dominion, to.

So we shall not by virtue of humanity, create our own nullification.

Or will they? The next step in A.I. isn't just better pre-programmed instructions calling to a database, but brain emulation using complex CS to simulate everything in the mind down to the molecular level.

http://www.kurzweilai.net/henry-markram-simulating-the-brain-next-decisive-years

If Moore's law holds up it may be possible for us to have functioning emulated minds at the desktop level by 2040.

>Now matter how complex it becomes, it will never have true emotions.
>Just programmed algorithms.

If it just has access to programmed algorithms you're really not talking about a "no matter how complex machines get" situation.

Emotions are programmed information in humans anyway. They're beneficial because they motivate our lives and they enable us to work together with one another.

I mean I can love a cat or a dog, and that isn't human. I'd be devastated if something happened to my cat.

If you're talking about romantic love then you're silly for thinking people couldn't have romantic love with a machine, there are subsets of people who are in love with their waifus or their real dolls or a porn-star, sometimes even completely imaginary lovers. Human sexuality is really complex and all-encompassing, robosexuality will be no different.

Whats interesting is in theory, that you could have bioengineering, meaning combining flesh and metal even in a smaller sense.

That the same biochemicals that we call emotions somehow could be synthesised and make robots have those biochemicals from stem cells for example.

It wouldnt be human, that said there are several things that look human now that are not human(no im not talking about some Lizard nonsense or aliens) im talking about psychopaths which in the LITERAL sense are not human.

Looking like a human does not make one human, having human evolutionary traits for long term survival like one in the social sense ASWELL is important factor, like empathy and compassion is neccesary to build a longterm society so it wont be like a mafia society.

Thats what the majority of humans are, thats why psychopaths are what others have called, a interspecies predator.

Think of them like certain Girls are a interspecies gender predator who lack honor and responsibility, who cling only to power of a man because they know they cant get power on their own.

That being said, you still dominate a women just to attract her since us does desire female comfort and sexuality.

I could see myself loving a machine but only if I knew it wasn't explicitly programmed to love me, but it came to love me via emergence. I dont know if you are familiarized with the IA field. I got graduated with honors in that field, which implies knowledge of the human brain ( I let you know this because I dont want you to think you are talking with some idiot writing random things, I dont consider myself specially intelligent or anything of that).

There are things about our brain which we didnt discover yet. What we know is a set of patterns which can trigger chemical reactions, but you all seem to imply more with your posts. You imply that all we do or think is biologically programmed, and we dont know that yet.

In fact, there is a huge problem if we only consider deterministic processes: How a deterministic process can give a random result, and there are a lot of investigations around that concept.

Now I tell you my personal opinion: There are amazing properties of matter which we didnt discover yet. Those properties are the ultimate cause of the human consciousness and the origins of our "ego".

I am pretty excited with the theories of Penrose and Hameroff, which in some way point in that direction. I recomend you read about them if you are really interested in this. Its pretty amazing.

Talking about the machines, a machine will never think or have "intelligent", at least not with silicon transistor tecnology. Search for the chinese room experiment.

I hope you find my post interesting.

What we really should be Looking at is consciousness. I believe we can already simulate or recreate very small parts of animals brains with technology, yet they have none of the understanding or awareness humanity does. What we should be focusing on, is where consciousness comes from, if it really is a product of our brains, or if there is some other forces at play. If we can replicate this, then we may be able to develop fully thinking, understanding, feeling robots. Until then, in my mind, they will be just like animals, reacting to input and learning to adapt to situations, but never fully becoming aware. Just my 2c though. I could be retarded.
>>
in a sense emotions are analogue to algorithms.
"In mathematics and computer science, an algorithm (Listeni/ˈælɡərJðəm/ al-gə-ri-dhəm) is a self-contained step-by-step set of operations to be performed. Algorithms exist that perform calculation, data processing, and automated reasoning" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algorithm).

When someone confronts you in a derisive manner you tell yourself to get angry. When someone (sincerely) flatters you you tell yourself to relax. When someone flirts with you you follow another set of steps.

Rational actions and subconscious processes only differ in the speed of processing.

So yes, given enough enough man hours to polish the AI you could have one waifu bot that is exactly as annoying and i'rrational' as your current 3dpd GF (with the advantage that you can mute one of them without resorting to violence)

What is the difference?

What makes ours real and not theirs. Our feelings and emotions are just a response to stimuli which trigger a response in our brains through chemical reaction.

Theirs is just a response to stimuli which trigger a response in their CPU through a stream of data.

We're just biological machines OP. Some are even born without functioning emotions, not the faggot edgelords here, real psychopaths with issues in their CPU.
>>
>>41391306
Doctors are essentially biological mechanics.

It's an uncomfortable thought for many that we are mostly likely "just" biological machines. Very complex but still machines. Doesn't make us meaningless or fake.

If we can replicate what makes us, us, there is no reason why the replicas can't have sentience. The difference is that they won't be carbon based... or maybe they will.

>it will never have true emotions.

Human beings are built. If we look at how a baby develops we can see that it is simply a biological process off arranging atoms in the right order. There is nothing stopping us fro studying this process and learning how to artificially recreate biological processes with technology. In that sense it could indeed be possible for an AI to have emotion if constructed in this way.

Now in the short term I think AI is going to be more of a biological / technological hybrid rather than just a computer. But to claim that AI cannot feel emotion is not just a technical question, but a moral and philosophical one.

If it is possible for biology to build something that can feel emotion, scientific theory would state that it is possible for us to recreate that artificially.

Not really. That's just a model to show a more intrinsic difference between human intelligence and algorithm-based intelligence.

Talking about intelligence simulation: Even if we assume its possible to simulate a human mind with an algorithm to the point you can distinguish between a human mind and the machine, I am pretty sceptical about the possibility of a processor with enough power and with a proper architecture to execute that algorithm. Maybe in 1000 years, if there is still someone here...

maybe electronics are just innapropiate for the task of this AI, just like mechanical computers proved innapropiate for standard computing

over a decade ago scientists conected a culture of mouse neurons to a flight simulator and made it fly a plane

wetware could be better suited for certain tasks, and electronics for others

>>41382102
People already kinda do love machines. There are plenty of cases of people empathizing and interacting with programs like they're people, like Eliza.

Humans are dumb, unless they're strictly against the idea from a ideological point they wont distinguish between something "real" and a facsimile.
>>
>>41392856
Would sound more interesting if I had a better understanding of their theory. I guess they are saying that we can feel which is different from that of a computer and something about how we are intrinsically tied to the laws of quantum mechanics and may exist in multiple places at once. Something about how the consciousness is deeply tied in with reality
>>
>>41393429
But again, our brains does not function as a deterministic algorithm...Maybe when we have quantum processors there will be other types of program languages with other type of rules and grammars. That sounds interesting, I wish I could had such powerful program language in my hands....

In my personal opinion, I don't think an A.I. will be programmed from scratch. It will probably be a human mind put into a computer instead, but we still have a lot of ground to cover in cognitive science, but it seems like the easiest approach.

Emotions are nothing more than preprogrammed instinctive reactions to certain stimuli or just brain chemicals. You ever wonder why exactly drugs make you happy?Easy the drug dope causes your brain produce dopamine which is the brain chemical that creates pleasure.Dopamine is also released during sex as well.

You're adding nothing of value to society, just more special snowflake terminology for when somebody only fucks robots. In the same way, homosexuals contribute nothing to society.
>>
>>41395343

I forgot to highlight these gems.

“When I think about the future, and I think about creating a conscious being, I worry in advance whether we will have abuses to the robots,” she says in her talk.

“If a robot is unable to make its own choices, if you program a robot to always say yes to sex, it cannot say no,” she adds. “It wil not have the choice to say no. if you remove the chance to say no, that’s tantamount to duress. Therefore every sexual interaction with a robot could be considered rape.”

Rape. A robot. Fucking insane feminists.

Lumpkin says she’s particularly concerned with sex robots being developed by men, who don’t exactly have a sterling track record when it comes to respecting other people’s sexual rights.

“The scientific community is overhelmingly male, and unfortunately, a lot of times men dont think about what it’s like from female’s perspective,” she says “It’s really important for you to consider that as you move forward.”
>>
>>41382102
Dude we already have sex with PCs: watching their pixels taking human forms simulating sex while we jerk off... yeah that already love between humans and machines.

Wouldn't you feel raped if someone forcefully took your smartphone to play games or call someone?

Consider this: love takes many forms

For example, someone may love their cat or dog (or other pet), but not in the same exact way they love their family, which is also not the same way they love their spouse

Someone may even have love (though not the same love they'd have for a conscious being) for an inanimate object, something of sentimental value, when, if lost, they'll cry over it and stuff.

It is therefore possible to love a machine. But not possible to be 'in love' with it.

Of course, for the same reason rule 34 exists, someone's going to disagree with me. (and I'm not even going to be mad because they don't victimize anyone having a fetish and lust they confused with love (and possibly also love))

It certainly can't love you back, only obey obey obey. It's also not conscious, so it can't be victimized.

What do you think you are? Tell me how you think instinctive behaviors like the maternal instinct and immigration patterns came about?

You are a biochemical machine. Your manufacturing began at conception and proceeded till your birth. You, based on your various constituent genes, have a predetermined lifespan, maybe 8 to 9 decades if you are lucky. But at least, you will expire. In time, you will be forced to die... and just as easily as you were born into consciousness so easily your illusion of self will be quenched and made nonexistence.

"Could you" - or, anyone im assuming oyu mean - "love a machine". Yes, as whom I love is subjective to my expression and intention of love's sematintc projection. It has little to do with the machine, unless the meaning of love, to you, necessitates that I am loved back to achieve 'love'.

"no matter how complex it becomes" - assuming we dont know the limits of complexity then - "it will never have TRUE emotions". There is an implication that TRUE emotions are emotions humans or biological entities express. That a robot cant express some form of robotic emotion, if the sensory -somatic perception and understanding of the world - a sort of sentience about it self and the world it is aware of in sensate info which can be categorized into associate contents cant formulate a mind capable of 'feeling'.

A programmed algorithm can be limitless in complexity and self managing in organization. A programmed algorithm in theory could deduce love, if you feed it enough variables and time - not that it would be anble to experience it in qualia, but it could express it in programming.

But they really don't. Men are better than women at just about everything. Outside of sex and reproduction, they don't have any advantages. Even the old belief of women being loving dependable partners has been destroyed by easy divorce laws and acceptance of sluttish behavior.

Breeding aside, what can a woman offer a man that he can't find elsewhere?
>>
>>41398185
it can go either way right now, as long as the brain remains a black box then either answer could be correct.

Lets not fix that people have become so bad, artificial robots to impersonate totally submissive sex driven humans have to be created to accomadate how
Much everyone hates the idea of assimating to others. Lets just make robots that love us no matter what! Personal growtth?! NEVER a robot will still find our terrible habits ok.

The only people that are excited for this are the people who are so bad at socializing, they reject society entirely and buy an imitation programmed to be unable to hate them instead of fix themselves to become likeable human beings.

So basically the people who are for this would thin the gene pool dramatically.

Never mind i see no problem anymore keep fucking your fleshlights and praying for your slave robots. Its not like the real thing is out there.

Fembots will be dangerous to women, creepy, indicitive of patriarchal desires and rape/necrophilia fetishes. REAL men wouldn't go near the things, enjoy being socially ostracised.

Good luck finding a company willing to put billions into R&D for that sort of product. Good luck importing one from less progressive societies either.

Manbots though? They're empowering and a superior and crucially, safer option for womyn who are too sensible to take the insane risks of murder and rape having a sexual relationship with a male entails. It even takes out the trash and does DIY!

>I already said the origin of conciusness or the mechanisms which make it possible are not disscovered yet
Proved =/= discovered

The thing that you identify as, well you, resides somewhere in the neural circuits of the frontal cortex. Just like every other neuro-orchestrated behavior from motor control to the reward circuit that has been found to be localized in specific neural ganglia, either through classical case studies of lesions to exploratory genetics of neurotissue differentiation. We've known this for decades now. We have literally severed connections to this part of the brain and turned people into personality-less vegetables, none of which (and I really mean none, not most) ever recovered. Just like how we discovered that blood carried oxygen, but took decades longer to discover the cargo protein that did so (now we know is hemoglobin), we are now at the dawn of mapping how these individual neural circuits work in tandem. Specifically last year we made some remarkable progress on how coordinate positions are retained within the hippocampus, a structure we knew already was associated, resulting in the research winning a Nobel Prize.

You aren't a honor graduate of anything or you would know this. Or prehaps you are as bad as the biochemists who pander to Creationists to try and give their pseudo-scientific movement more credibility. You don't want evolution to be true. You don't want to accept the fact you are a finite, temporary construct that will one day be whisked away into nothingness. Never to experience life, feeling, thought... literally anything ever again. I know its a horrifying reality we all must die someday but these are the cards we have been dealt, you have to accept your proposition is a desperate grasping of straws rather than a more legitimate possibility. Be thankful you have been able to exist self aware at all.

This is what autism looks like. Remember, autism is a very serious issue that needs to be treated delicately, if not, it looks like this. Do not hate the autist. Pity him, he does not know happiness and never will whilst blaming women for his own failures.

Oh why did you have to tear into me so hard mr double divorcee ALL WOMEN ARE WHOOOOOOORRREEEESS
>>
>>41398208
Those aren't high standards.

If you are young, it's natural to expect someone young.

Wanting someone to clean and cook is the least you can expect from a woman if you are out there working 40 hours a week to allow both of you the lifestyle you both enjoy. You have to be a lazy pos if you can't even clean and cook for the person that pays your bills. How hard is it to do laundry? Cooking is simple these days. If you aren't a slob, cleaning is minimal.

The sex stuff may not be standards but being sexually repressed in this day and age is kinda depressing :/

Anyways, what do you mean by "proved"? What is exactly proved? You dont even make sense...the only thing you say in your comment is that what we identify as "you" resides somewhere in the frontal cortex. So what?

> You don't want evolution to be true. You don't want to accept the fact you are a finite, temporary construct that will one day be whisked away into nothingness. And I said all of that where....?

Seriously mate, I dont know where all that rage comes from. Maybe you thought I am a creationist, a religious person, a misticist, or a new-age movement member, but if you know that much about the brain, you should know you created all those assumptions by yourself and with no empirical evidence. All I did was point to a theory which lately gained relevance due to some experiments, nothing more and nothing less.

Also, my field is not neurology, but IA. I know something about neurology because it is intrinsically related to the IA, and I plain to learn more, but I am not expert on that.

People like you are a problem to the science dude. How are we going to progress if we cant experiment, and change what is established if the empirical evidence contradicts the current theory?

Finally, you should know that things are intrinsically nothing for themselves, but what we create with the concept we have of them.

Epicurus: "Death means nothing to us...when we exist, death is not yet present, and when death is present, then we do not exist"

As long as it's extremely convincing I am sure most people could kid themselves and swing it.

It doesn't matter if the AI doesn't have real AI, love is about how YOU feel. If an AI and you have real experiences, and real communication like in "Her" then it is absolutely possible to fall in love with an artificial consciousness.

Now the question you really SHOULD be asking is: Is it good for humanity to have AI that humans can fall in love with?
