I know about the Thule society in NS Germany, but was there anymore involvement with the Occult that the Nazi's had? I know that the man himself was into it.
I read about Hitler going to see the mystic consultant and getting told to dig up a mandrake root from his hometown and being told it will help him rise to power or something similar and I want to know more.
Anyone have any stories on the subject?
Come on guys. A thread about whether or not Italians are white can get posts and the one genuine /pol/ Hitler thread fizzles and dies. What the fuck?

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough.

While less academically rigorous than the first, it is still a fascinating read.

The occult beliefs and esoteric teachings of the NSDAP inner circle are absolutely fascinating.

Himmler was desperately trying to string together everything he could to make up some strange Aryan supremecy mythology
I'm sure he was interested in ancient cults
I was asking for information about it, that should be a dead giveaway that I am not going to know much about it.

Thank you, Anon. I appreciate it.
bump!
I find it interesting that the most scientific people and empire in history were also into the occult.
What about Vril Society? Was that real or a myth?

even if it did exist it would be like people today who think they are jedis.

so it was real?

no idea. the term vril comes from a fictional book. so if they did exist i doubt people took them seriously.
The "Ahnenerbe" organization hasn't been mentioned yet ITT. It means "heritage of the ancestors" and was an organization run by Heinrich Himmler, who himself was heavily into the occult. (He was also head of the Gestapo and the SS.) The Ahnenerbe travelled through the world on the search of the mythical roots of the Aryan race, looking for artifacts, lost peoples etc, really anything that could serve as a basis for the claim that Aryan people were superiour to others. For example there was an outlandish theory around that Aryans were descendants of Atlantis.
So you might want to google for "Ahnenerbe".
