So basically, here is what happened. The reporter was interested in doing a hit piece on frat culture at universities, and put out feelers for rape victims. This woman was expecting her story to be part of a larger story involving many rape cases, but her story was so outrageous that the reporter shifted to this amazing event as the focus of her story. This drew attention to the story, and under scrutiny the fabrication couldn't be maintained.

i have tried every honest angle to find a charitable interpretation of the woman's actions, but I just can't.
