Last thread 404'd
>I think it's a good idea, so here it is
/r/ing suggestions for Documentary
I'd like to avoid Hitler/NatSoc/Right Wing stuff
I'm not overtly interested in that shit right now.
Anything to do with Middle Eastern Conflicts, Israel, Philosophy, Religion, Chemistry, Astro Physics would be nice.
Also I think this is a genius idea.
(why the fuck did the other thread 404?)
Recommend photo from last thread. Hopefully it didn't get shitted up.
the weeb from the last thread had a good pic
I'm pretty sure the OP deleted it after everyone pointed out he was an illiterate fuck.
There's a decent chance it was the mods using "off-topic" as an excuse to delete a thread with a picture criticizing popular SJWs though.
Paraphrasing an Anonymous dumbbell routine
1.) Buy a Dumbbell of a weight you are able to curl 7 to 8 times
2.) Every other day:
• Overhead tricep curls
• Shoulder press
3.) Once able to do 3 sets of 12, bump up the weight 5-10 lbs
Yeah, lets be men for a month, you guise. We should stop procrastinating also, but let's wait til December to start. Seriously, if you faggots don't do this shit already, you are pieces of shit and I am ashamed I share this board with you
Haha, oh wow, what a load of shit.
im not the OP from last thread, i got in on it last minute and then it 404'd
>put up the correction, we can all save it and the next OP can use it
If you do it one image at a time, I will personally hunt you down and slaughter you.
Didn't last long at all, fuking mods
Iv'e got a boatload of shit I've saved from /fit/ over the years. Used to be in damn good shape until I destroyed my left ankle. Now I make excuses constantly and lie to myself.
Let me know if you guys want more or not, everything I have can be done by literally anyone at any level so it doesn't require any previous fitness level
i honestly save them that way, i just save the image and pdf together
>the bell curve
You're better off reading a book about probability and statistical inference to have a better understanding of why The Bell Curve is complete bullshit.
I think the word 'conservative' is a better descriptor for the books in your pic related. 'Right wing' almost implies a necessarily political agenda when a lot of those books are tangentially related to right wing politics, but are more about observational philosophy. Speaking of which, I would also add Marcus Aurelis' Meditations to that list. If you haven't read it, it's a really good piece on personal responsibility, emotional control, etc.
it's all about expanding your horizons
reading mein kampf doesn't make you a nazi and reading the bible doesn't make you a christian
it's about understanding these things and deciding what is good or bad
I'm for it as long as you keep a simple definition of "degeneracy". It's weird because it's too vague on one hand and /pol/ get's too retarded with it on the other to point it becomes a meaningless buzzword for "what I don't like".
This is actually a good reading list, I'm impressed /pol/.
Cosmo's for physics, if nothing else you'll get a good history lesson on who discovered what idea. You have Netflix? They have A LOT of good documentaries.
>This is actually a good reading list, I'm impressed /pol/.
No, it really isn't. It's edgy muh libertarian holocaust denial bullshit.
These lists are better and actually respected:
Is it worth learning? Yeah. I know a guy who had a business degree and couldn't find a good job so he buckled down and learned enough Java in 2 months to to get a contract job at $45 an hour.
Now, I don't know about Treehouse or whatever, but there are plenty of free resources.
>read at least one book and watch 2 documentaries
That should be easy. Here's a documentary for you, /pol/
You realize that second list is "lets pretend I'm a viking knight" right? That's the LARPing pill. The other one is /lit/ doing it's usual thing where it thinks a book is one good if you've never heard of it.
Also it's funny because in the real world that's not your parents basement most people would call being a fucking Nazi and denying the holocaust pretty fucking edgy.
There is a documentary on the Higgs-Bison I wanted to watch, don't know if it's good though. Also watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi. It's really inspiring, nothing political per say but very "anti-degeneracy" by pushing for accomplishing your goals and dreams above all things.
I really like this sight.
I'm also surprises no one /pol/ has ever talked about that I have ever seen.
>The other one is /lit/ doing it's usual thing where it thinks a book is one good if you've never heard of it.
If you've never heard of any of those books, then the education system has failed you.
I agree with you good sir.
A clip from their article "Why Every Man Should be Strong."
>Not only does strength-building develop one’s character and virtue, it provides the necessary backbone – the proper framework – on which to build our moral values. The cloak of virtue hangs very awkwardly on a man without fire and fight; it droops and sags when draped across a structure that lacks strength and firmness. We all know amiable men who are sickly thin or grossly overweight, who look like they’d burst into tears if a bully broke their walking stick and would get winded mounting a flight of stairs. These mealy men profess to be nice guys, perfect gentlemen, but we don’t respect them as men, or gentlemen either. They’re good men, but not good at being men.
If we're still talking about money, the Swift market isn't mature enough yet. I would stick with Objective-C and learn Swift in your spare time if you're interested. It certainly couldn't hurt to expand your Apple toolbox if you're in Apple product development.
So there's this book I read in high school that I've never been able to remember the name of
It's about some guy who travels and goes through a bunch of adventures basically it's a satire of a ridiculous amount of history.
the basic premise is that bad shit happens to this adventurer
it's something along the lines of Candor or Candid
I think the book cover was red.
Vague I know but I'm hoping someones knows what i'm talking about.
I've been meditating twice daily, once in the morning and once before bed. Theres free apps available, I use one with paid addons called 'Calm'.
Meditating before bed seems to help me fall asleep quicker, and meditating during the day is just a nice break. Guided meditation with reciting positive affirmations I think has a positive impact.
I like the idea. I just picked up tennis and I already have a new group that I play doubles with, including a few cute girls. It's fun to develop a new skill that also gets you being active.
>Some assholes decided to use our regular soccer field(they're public parks so anyone can use them) so we had to play in the shittiest backfield there was, tons of dips and holes all over it.
>We're playing with some new people so after one of our guys fell they stopped because they're a bunch of pussies and can't tell a serious hit from a minor one.
>I decide to steal the ball cuz fuck yeah it's on it's own and I'm not really paying attention to the guy who smacked into the other because that's how soccer goes
>Hit edge of ditch while shooting with my right and my foot slips just enough
>completely roll and shatter almost every bone and tendon in my left foot(planted one)
>Took 8 months before I could walk straight
Thanks for the sympathies man, I sued to have pics of the massive bruises all over my foot and ankle but I got rid of it about 3 months ago for the hell of it.
Tennis is redpilled as heck. Pic related.
Holy shit ... anti-degeneracy month???
I'm fucking down. Get /fit/ and /k/ and lets get a list of shit to be done.
Learning how to handle a weapon.
Reading and watching enlightening media.
Giving eachother advice they won't learn in the outside world.
We need to make a list of shit to do, check the shit off and compare progress. Also, if fucking is part of the program, remember to take the girls to breakfast/dinner afterwards to avoid a false rape accusation.
>completely roll and shatter almost every bone and tendon in my left foot(planted one)
Ankle, my bad
Here you go
>Read at least one book
>There are people in this thread right now that need a month to read at least on book
Guess I'll fill this requirement in about a week.
>lifting weights builds your morals bro
>muh tryhard writing
I've got a weight bench/squat rack sitting right next to me but you're an idiot if you try to attach any great value to exercise. If you're lifting for any reason but to stay fit and healthy then you're just as degenerate as anyone else. You're working your ass off to appear more attractive or manly in the eyes of other people and you're no better than any other person who spends an inordinate amount of time grooming themselves.
Yes Mr. Bodybuilder, you are the intellectual and moral equivalent of a woman spending two hours every morning putting on her makeup.
>It is a mark of mean capacity to spend much time on the things which concern the body, such as much exercise, much eating, much drinking, much easing of the body, much copulation. But these things should be done as subordinate things: and let all your care be directed at the mind.
Oh yeah, and two documentaries.
>Greatest story never told
Anyone know of a good one that's more for Libertarians? I don't see much of that around here even though it's the other big ideology on /pol/.
I'm posting exactly that
My problem with getting /fit/ is I see shit like this and then I shut down. Like it's too much info for me and I realized I'm a very visual learning. I love to read but when it comes to actually physically doing something I have trouble translating it from text to reality.
Like with cooking I have trouble understanding what a recipe is calling for but I can watch a couple people cook a dish on youtube and instantly make it myself. I need the same thing for work outs. I really want/need a personal trainer that can show me how to do everything and make sure I'm not fucking up. But I'm too broke for that.
i second this motion.
Part of the anti-degeneracy month should be the purchase of a Nugget and two spam cans
Or maybe you could go read the article and find out that the author finds men who go after the body builder physique to be vanity seeking degenerates.
When he first started the sight artofmanlieness, com he stayed away from things having to do with working out, in his words because he wanted to avoid the fetishised ripped male body.
The article is about lifting to become strong, not to have some Herculean type body.
Maybe you should actually go investigate a source before you spout nonsense good fellow.
these alone will help you with most things and get you into good shape.
im a fatass, but i started doing as many push ups as i can in the morning (which is about 5) and walking
i plan on starting running, and increasing my exercises
im working my way up
>Learning how to handle a weapon.
We need to develop some program for Yuropoors and others who can't afford guns.
Guns are relatively easy to practice with on your own.
Melee and martial arts aren't.
Something dirty and practical without the woo bullshit. I'm thinking sambo or krav maga (inb4 merchant) or just Thai style kickboxing. Elbows and knees, fellas.
I used to spend so much time googling for this honestly.
Maybe I suck at using search engines.
This is the only exposure I've had of his work. I remember enjoying it.
Then again I enjoyed all of my English Class books.
Inferno, Siddhartha, 1984, Hamlet.
I agree that curling and spray-on-tan douchebags are degeneracy.
But so is disrespecting your ancestrial history, biological past and your sense on manliness by neglecting your body. How can you protect your wife and family if you're a puny runt? Do you think people will listen to the red-pill-gospel more readily from a squinty eyed little fuck who needs a sandwich, or a strong self disciplined man who takes care of himself and projects power?
I just finished reading The Merchant of Venice. That was some tasteful antisemitism.
I pray you, think you question with the Jew:
You may as well go stand upon the beach
And bid the main flood bate his usual height;
You may as well use question with the wolf
Why he hath made the ewe bleat for the lamb;
You may as well forbid the mountain pines
To wag their high tops and to make no noise,
When they are fretten with the gusts of heaven;
You may as well do anything most hard,
As seek to soften that--than which what's harder?--
His Jewish heart:
yeah im just dumping a few of my thread related folders
Nigger you should be, it's fucking tv trash that forces you to focus on only a couple of groups and it fucks your development to hell.
It doesn't provide and functional strength whatsoever and is just for looks, you don't even have any actual stamina out of it.
If you want to stop being fat and get into shape, bullshit televised sales pitched boondoggles isn't the way to do it, you're just looking for the easy way out again basically learning nothing at all and fucking your form up.
Also some numbers run at about 60% of the people who complete P90X go back to being fat because they didn't actually earn it and still eat like trash and have their old trash habits still.
Pilaties is bullshit
Get the fuck out of here, I'm helping people who can't afford gym or weights. You on the other hand are criticizing proven techniques and workouts AND suggesting the biggest troll to ever come out of /fit/.
The hell would you want to fuck people over for
I think we should ensure this is posted/visible DAILY during the month of December.
We can get a head start before all those New Year Resolution normies start with their false expectations.
The real key in my opinion is to start off easy, for those that aren't /fit/.
For those who are looking for educational improvement, the fact that you're here is quite the initiative.
Stay strong /pol/
But I have read the article.
>the author finds men who go after the body builder physique to be vanity seeking degenerates.
And later in the article he brags about his 450lb deadlift. Do you think there's some magic divide between people who exercise excessively because they want to have pretty bodies and people who exercise excessively because they want to be strong?
Anything you do past the point of your body's basic requirements is greed and vanity. Exercising more than is required to maintain good health, no matter what motivation you claim, is no different morally than eating more than you need to be healthy, sleeping more than you need to be healthy and so on.
I've spent plenty of time on /fit/ and believe me, there's no great moral enhancement that comes from buying into absurd manliness rhetoric. In all honesty, browsing a site like artofmanliness is a huge red flag that you're overcompensating for your shitty self view. If you need to read a website written by guys who look like this
to "learn" how to be more manly then you have some serious issues.
All this shit is fucking trash.

Are you serious? Thats your goal? Jesus thats nothing.
EVERY WEEK I:
>Read a book
>Watch 1 or 2 docos
>Gym 4 times
>Play a team sport twice
Come on /pol/ if thats the meagre goal you have set yourself then you will never achieve Ubermensch mode.
Problem is that the majority of people who would follow the graphics your posting dont know what they're doing. They dont know how to program, how to stick to a routine and most importantly have PROGRESS in that routine.
Sure they get a bit stronger from not being a couch potato 24/7, but they wont get near the results in strength and mass as they would from following a strict barbell routine
/k/ here. This part will be the hardest in a sense since 90% of /pol/ and 4chan in general is broke as fuck. The cheapest option here is to get a mosin - the cheapest you can find that is in decent shape and get a can o' spam. The best deal as of this writing is slickguns where they have a can for 95 including shipping (440 rounds). Get some paper targets, or soda cans about fifty yards away and zero your sight. Shoot until all your bullets hit the target. Then move to a hundred yards and repeat. There are better methods, but this is simple and cheap.
>Do you think people will listen to the red-pill-gospel more readily from a squinty eyed little fuck who needs a sandwich, or a strong self disciplined man who takes care of himself and projects power?
If you're expecting people to judge the content of your ideas by your physical form then you've already lost. A brief look at the most influential philosophers and politicians of history shows that physical strength has little influence. If you exercise regularly and are more fit than the average person then you're already where you need to be.
Image macros are pretty manly, I guess.
>Getting a Mosin
Most people here couldn't handle the weight, let alone the recoil
AR is the best start for anyone due to it's ease and the fact it's not a goddamn AK, that's why people have their 5 year olds learning with them.
> A brief look at the most influential philosophers and politicians of history shows that physical strength has little influence.
They had towering intellect and publishers.
/pol/acks have neither
The only way out ideas will spread is mouth to mouth
>people admire those stronger than them
>people listen to those they admire more readily
You're right about the recoil. It's glorious. I would like to amend my recommendation to say that this should be taken up after you've worked out for a while. Make it a treat. After all, if one can not use their body to its full potential then what good does a rifle do them really?
>This part will be the hardest in a sense since 90% of /pol/ and 4chan in general is broke as fuck
>AR is the best start for anyone
You can get a mosin for around 100 dollars
440 rounds for about 70 to 90 dollars
Learn to handle, clean and strip simple rifle
Bolt action leads to marksmanship
tacticool leads to faggotry
Does anyone know how to get rid of prickly heat? I've scoured the internet for hours trying to find a remedy for this curse, but I can't find anything useful. I've had it for years and can't do any sort of exercise because of the pain it causes me.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with what it is, rather than sweating like a normal person would, I break out in really painful itching that makes me want to tear my skin off and it won't go away until my body cools down. Apparently it can be fatal because your body can't regulate its temperature properly, so if you force yourself to keep doing whatever is making your body hot, you will overheating yourself.
I fucking hate it but it just won't go away. I want to exercise and stop being a skinnyfat faggot, but I literally can't. Every bit of information I've found on the condition just says it will go away on its own within a month, but obviously that's not happening for me.
Holy fuck at the jewishness in this thread?
Are you all a bunch of defeatist betas or something? Put your life to work and make something of yourselves.
It's not the point of looking like a shredded underwear model; it's improving yourself and your self image.. It's like you guys would rather be a bunch of self entitled Elliot Rodgers than be the typified virile Male of a bygone era.
And you call yourselves "red pilled"..
>And education would teach you to remeber that no matter how scary looking libs find those guns, that they're still only .22's
Have you shot hollow point 22 LR?
I made the mistake of using a telephone pole to rest my target against because it was "only .22". I nearly cut the fucking thing in half.
Do not underestimate .22LR - as long as you can hit something, you can kill it.
This whole stopping power discussion comes from widespread law enforcement use where it was deemed underpowered for instantly dispatching determined or drug fueled humans.
>going to a gym and doing roids
>not going to the shooting range instead
Get with the times, anon. They worked out to master their weapons and use them without tiring.
We don't chuck spears or swing maces anymore.
All the dude bruhs and muscles in the world are no match for modern weaponry.
In fact you bring tons of shame to your ancestors for not mastering the new era, but instead clinging to old world ideals and desires.
Part of broadening the horizons is learning how to spell. All /pol/ members are hereby required to learn English better than they did before, either through voluminous reading of masterful essays or the most wretched and vile of grammar tomes combined with excellent prose.

Men draw inspiration from strength

>men listening to your positions because you can back them up
>women listening to you because of their vaginas
>.Iron Pill is real...
>They iron pill is such wishful projecting. "Hurr durr if I say iron pill I'll look like this male model right here".
Iron Pill is a joke that has a kernel of truth.
That kernel of truth is an aspiration about self-improvement on a physical and mental level, as well as a turn to a moral code deemed lacking in society.
The reason it's popular and people use it with tongue in cheek but also only half joking, is that it's fundamentally a good idea.
The biggest criticisms are:
>muh mary sue character
All of which really miss the point.
Just like the rest of /pol/ it's the mix of goofy bullshit and unexpected truth that makes it interesting.
This chart is shit. There's no consistency in the tools the exercises require in order for you to perform them.
Furthermore, there's no instruction on proper form for the exercises, only a single picture for each.
Everyone in this thread is half assing it.
Not a single mention of a damn physical activity that will cultivate martial prowess.
Shitty info graphics and fitness recommendations.
Reading useless books.
Here's what you can do read books on science. Physical fitness is important? Read books on sport science you lazy fucks. That's what I do. Why do some shitty cookie cutter routine when you can be planning training cycles to improve your performance at a combat sport (lol people playing sissy sports where they handle balls).
Currently, training grappling 5 times per week for a comp this weekend. Will go back to training kickboxing along with grappling and lifting once the comp is over. Book? Sport science. Studying to get a CSCS (certified strength and conditiong specialist) reading the NSCA's textbook. It's not bad, although it kind of sucks because I have much better sport science texts I could be reading. As for documentaries? Well, they mostly suck. I will make it my goal to watch 2 seasons of ancient aliens for the lulz. Might as well embrace the suck.
Fuck this has inspired me more than anything to cease being a scrawny fuccboi
The tall strong and intelligent guys I know just project confidence and get people to listen to them
Not saying we should bodybuild but that we should become bigger and stronger.
>There's no consistency in the tools the exercises require in order for you to perform them.
>Furthermore, there's no instruction on proper form for the exercises, only a single picture for each.
Read the image, it says at the top that there are instructions on the website for every exercise.
>Not a single mention of a damn physical activity that will cultivate martial prowess.
CHECK YOUR FACTS
>Something dirty and practical without the woo bullshit. I'm thinking sambo or krav maga (inb4 merchant) or just Thai style kickboxing. Elbows and knees, fellas.
Have you ever trained with a full Loadout +Plates, and stacked .308 on top of a 3-Day extended Ruck? Then hiked 19k on a ridgeline in a freezing downpour?
Get back to me when you do Elliot.
Okay I also think learning proper self defense/fighting is important so I started watching some vids
watch recommended videos after that one and it'll put you on a good track I think.

tfw you wish you would have built your body with SS years ago
Physical conditioning is important in the modern battlefield largely because it is required for you to be a competent soldier and not a drag upon your unit.
You must be able to march long distances without tiring.
You must have physical stamina to stay up long hours without tiring.
You must have a sharp and clear mind and focused(fat people get tired easily due to immense amounts of muscle energy needed to move your enormous weight, think picking up an LCD TV vs a CRT TV, which one requires more effort to carry?)
You need to be able to scale difficult terrain rapidly and efficiently WITHOUT TIRING
You need to be able to lift and carry heavy loads of gear, food, etc. You need to be able to carry comrades or to lift heavy objects using winches or other basic tools
Preferably you are a capable and efficient climber and swimmer for scaling and operating in varied terrain.
You need to have the physical stature and strength to kick in doors, use machetes to clear brush, and manage to remove other obstacles through sheer force(fastest way)
You need to be able to move rapidly and silently(and not crush huge amounts of sticks, leaves, etc. due to being a fat, clumsy landwhale)
Modern fighting requires more physical stamina than ever.
>not sending in this guy to do it for you
Keep trying, even the human form will be obsolete in due time.
well all make it bro
Look up Starting Strength routine.
Look up Mark Rippletoe on Jewtube
He has great video explaining proper form

I never said don't work out. I just said you guys are retarded. If yo legitimately believe you need the form of a professional body builder to do anything you really mistaken.
>wants to be "iron pilled"
>only thing holding you back is your dainty nails

The older brother of Green Pill, he has learned the forgotten ways of our ancestor's way of life -- the monarchy, the rites and initiations, the caste system -- and travels as an ascetic bringing enlightenment to the true sons of Sky- for the true descendants of Mother Europa.
What happens when gullible newbies are tricked into doing GOMAD (Gallon Of Milk A Day, which is like 2500 calories, on top of being told to just eat whatever the fuck they want and however much of it they want). After about 6 months, they realise that it is just turning them into a lard ass and then they get mad because of how much fat they now have to lose.

100 pushups is literally pointless. It is not building strength at that point, only endurance. Any more than 10 reps, if that is pointless if your goal is strength.
Instead of doing 100 pushups, do 3 sets of 6-10, then make them harder in some way by doing them on an incline or something so that there's more weight over your arms.
The only way is IRON PILL.
I'm looking at it all, and with Red Pill, I'm just not getting that extra motivation. Yeah I've got the mental edge. But not that will to rise above. I feel the next Evolution of this journey of Self is and only Iron Pill.

YOU GOT THIS ANON!
ATTAIN THE VOLKISCH! I'm on that road with you. Every time you pick up that weight I'm doing the same because I want to be better. It's a lonely road, but we'll meet up along the way.
Strength and Honour
Beat you to the punch! I finally had enough of my own self indulgent, self destructive behavior.
Weight as of the beginning of this month: 313 (6'4")
Max 1800 Calories a day with a Min of 150 grams of lean protein (freezer full of chicken breasts and fish).
Resistance band training regimine, head to toes, half and hour every day.
Full stair stepper (no impact til I get the weight down), boxing, weight lifting at my home gym at least twice a week.
Target weight of 250, I will only weigh myself once a month, I'm not going to become obsessed with that shit. Target can adjust based on fat % as I approach it.
About half my media consumption is read news, listening to lectures and expanding my knowledge, it's instinct at this point.
I'd like to add having at least a few hours a week doing something creative, music, writing, sculpting, etc.
Honestly there's nothing better than lifting. It's what they told me a religious experience should feel like, that struggle of body and mind and motion. If I knew how great it was I would have done it long ago.
My dream is a marathon by 2016 at the latest, and to hike the Appalachian Trail before the end of the decade. Little victories until then, but it's definitely been an eye opening experience.
People troll skinnyfats with it though, then they just get turned into actual fatties. I would say even hungry skeletons shouldn't do it because you're going to pack on way more fat than you want to.
Nice physical and wisdomous gainz brah.
By default, a reply is 3/10. With those 3 points, however, you may break them down for what they are for.
In this case, 1 for being on topic about fitness, 1 for being about something the board specifically hates, and 1 for something in the content you didn't like.
Hella proud Anon. I'm taking my Iron Pill too. Gonna keep at it and make evolutions in body/mind/spirit.
I've let myself go for so long and through the Jewish mainstream vices. I used to be pretty shredded Ottermode. Now it's time to pick myself up and shake of the Shekels I've been buried under.
Many Gainz and Victories Anon
God damn it. Not god damn about the p90x thing being shit, I knew that, but god damn at the last sentence.
I weigh 300 pounds and haven't done ANYTHING. There's no way I won't kill myself if I start going to the gym to lift 10 pound weights.
Dumbells can be as good as barbells, right? I don't want to die at home if I get a barbell and try squatting.

There are a lot more redpill docs, but i haven't had the chance to format more
>>SJW 'friends' have begun to turn on me for not being 'fat positive'
Is this true or just a joke, because it's funny as shit. Why would you have SJW friends as a /pol/ack?
>>tfw have nobody to talk to who doesn't think you're scum
You're not scum, you're a human being god damn it! Your life has value! You're fat as hell and you're not going to take it anymore!
>but I just click on music or an audiobook and work out 9 hours/week oblivious to the shit.
Remember what nobody wants to admit: losing weight is about not eating. An hour exercise is worth about 2 candybars. You can't eat like a fat fuck and exercise your way to health.
You exercise to build muscle and endurance, both of which make you stronger, healthier, more alert, which does feed back in and help you stay the course of losing weight.
Do not get discouraged by plateaus and gaining some weight back. It's bad, but quitting is much worse. Redouble your efforts instead.
You can make it brah. I believe in you. I've lost 90 lbs in a year. You can lose more than that in that timeframe if you try, especially if fuckhuge when you retain a lot of water weight.
Most important thing is that YOU know where you want to be, not that other people see it.
If you're 300 lbs. you won't need to do 10 lb. weights. Yes, you're going to be weak, yes, you're going to not put up ridiculous numbers to start, but I was benching 100 lbs. comfortably within my first couple of weeks with proper form (I'm >>38791852 by the way). Squats were even easier because guess what? You've been squatting a massive amount of weight for your entire fatlife, and those muscles are ready to take more.
You need to watch with your form though on any exercise. I know /fit/ isn't a fan, but if you're worried initially try a Smith Machine to use as a crutch while practicing good form with a light bar to prevent developing bad habits. Get someone to help you out, show you the way. Get a membership at (gasp) Planet Fitness or similar locations to start yourself off because they're open 24 hours a day and you can sneak in and out when they are less busy.
My first month at the gym I saw maybe 5 people who weren't staff because I went at midnight-2. Then I started getting more comfortable, going earlier, and it just became a routine.
For guys who are enormous and morbidly obese it is about form and health more than gains. You need to be ready to be in pain over shit that others may treat as minor... I had to talk to a doctor to figure out how to handle giant pads of blister that formed when I went anywhere above a walk. Seriously, from my toes to the center of my foot, just one big blister.
But it got better! It's been hard, but I'm on my way, and I'm a much fatter guy than you. Don't take everything /fit/ says seriously because /fit/ knew fuckall to help me except the most basic pointers about form when I asked. I consulted with people who looked like they may know something, doctors, etc. and went from there.
Good luck fatbro. I hope to see you doing laps in the pool of bitches your new improved self will land you. I've gone down 50 lbs out of way-too-much to go and can already see more positive attention.
Thanks. I was just worried about weights because I browsed /fit/ for a while and it was barbell, barbell, barbell. My friend has a weight rack of 5 to 50 pound dumbells and a bench. I'm the guy in the last thread who was about to finish couch to 5k. I figured I'd ask because now that I know I can exercise without giving up that it's time to add weights to the routine.
Nice motivation thread, but why stop at red pill?
The ultimate goal is the iron pill. And don't procrastinate. Start today. Commemorate later on Iron Pill Day January 1, 2015.
>Is this true or just a joke, because it's funny as shit. Why would you have SJW friends as a /pol/ack?
I had friends from all over the spectrum of politics, but always was the funny fat guy whose politics could be brushed off because hey, he's not a threat. As soon as I started not taking shit because I felt a positive change? The claws came out. I was accused of misogyny because I was turning down desserts and making them look bad. I guess I was there to adjudicate their bad life decisions because it could be worse, at least they weren't me.
>You're not scum, you're a human being god damn it!
I know that. I also know that people don't really take you as seriously as they could when you have to grease yourself up to get out of your car. So I have been positively moving forward.
Regarding the weight? Yeah, I don't weigh in more than once a month, keep a calorie tracker on my phone, and haul ass through my day to keep up. I'm on a week long recovery that I do every 6 weeks right now, going up to 80% of my BMR for calories from my normal 1800, but still doing stretches and light cardio to just keep the momentum up. I'm not afraid of losing gains, and it keeps me happy even if I stagnate a bit for a few days.
Good on you man. I hope to be joining that Century Club soon, 100 lbs off and still crushing forward. Never thought I would go to /pol/ to get a pep talk.
/fit/ will be useful to you at some point. But right now it's about proper form/technique to not hurt yourself and just doing it, day in day out, and shaping behaviors. /fit/ is to your needs what a wellness visit is to the surgery. You need major, life-changing alteration and not just a checkup. And Couch to 5k is a great start... It's where I went myself when I decided on cardio.
Losing 90 pounds in a year... Did you have loose skin or anything? That's what I'm worried about especially since I already have stretchmarks. I'm actually wondering if I can put anything on them to help too, like pregnant women do.
>tfw your only motivation to lift is to become Guts
>I guess I was there to adjudicate their bad life decisions because it could be worse, at least they weren't me.
That would have been awful when you first realised what you were to them.
I'm glad you are making a change, thanks for inspiring me btw
Better than wanting to be Commander Greil, I guess, considering Guts is obviously way more fleshed out.
>Losing 90 pounds in a year... Did you have loose skin or anything?
Yes. And it looks like shit and makes you feel terrible and regret everything.. for a few months.
Then it starts pulling back.
> already have stretchmarks
Then yes, you are more likely to have loose skin.
Mine isn't that noticeable anymore but I can pull it out and it looks ridiculous. If I lean forward it will fall away from my body, but standing or sitting it's not noticeable.
It sucks, but even if you get a bad case of loose skin the truth is you're better off than when you were fat. Loose skin can be removed with cosmetic surgery, some countries will even provide it as a health service.
Oh, and filling up with muscle has helped a lot too. The void left by fat gets replaced by gainz and looks a hell of a lot better.
I know it's a painful idea that even with hard work and effort you can't turn back the clock and choose a life like a Brad Pitt instead. You'll always have some scars or skin to remind you of what you did wrong, what you did right and why you never want to go down that road again. It's a motivator.
> put anything on them to help too
I've read a bit about this since I have them and you're pretty much shit out of luck.
- Exfoliate (rub skin with rough brush)
- Rehydrate (after shower have some skin cream on it, doesn't really matter which)
That's the best you can do, but regardless with time they fade and whiten. If you get ripped you'll look like a marble statue.
Conspiracy of Silence - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma22jxA5xZY (1h)
>funny fat guy whose politics could be brushed off because hey, he's not a threat
Oh god I know that feeling. You're so far off their radar you might as well be furniture.
>I was accused of misogyny because I was turning down desserts and making them look bad. I guess I was there to adjudicate their bad life decisions because it could be worse, at least they weren't me.
This is something I kind of experienced, but it was never as blatant. Fuck those people. It's like being the fat chick in a group of girls, makes them look better by comparison or something.
> I don't weigh in more than once a month, keep a calorie tracker on my phone, and haul ass through my day to keep up.
Took me a long while to realize a lot of what you're already doing (like not obsessively tracking weight). Great work. Losing weight isn't really the hard part, the hard part is sticking to it, ignoring the pull of bad habits and creating new better ones.
>Never thought I would go to /pol/ to get a pep talk.
/pol/ is a safe space for friends! :^)
But seriously, even in the fat shaming threads the point is generally "you can do better than this". Nobody wants to be fat, but plenty of people delude themselves into thinking the rest of the world should change to accommodate them.
That is ridiculous.
Iron Pill is joke, but the desire to better yourself and to support people improving themselves is real.
Thanks, anon. That was one of the last things I was wondering about with this whole life improvement thing.
Has anyone tried this?
4 rounds total (so 100 repetitions of each exercise)
Not breathing heavily while doing something?
Even after running I feel embarrassed if there are people to hear me huffing and puffing. It's a physical confirmation that I actually can't do things normal people ought to do, even if I get better because of it. One of my hurdles to start getting into shape was people knowing I was trying and if I'm trying that means they and I know there's something wrong with me. I feel like fatties get judged harder when they try than if they would have never tried in the first place.
