That's aimed at improving the math scores of girls (or more likely, worsening the math scores of boys.) Of course, why this is STUPID is because the average boy is only slightly better at math than the average girl - there are just more boys who outright excel at math than there are girls who outright excel at math. They refuse to admit that hey, maybe boys just have a higher chance of being a math genius than girls because of biological differences, so they design a system that makes no fucking sense.

The second part is the reading/writing curriculum, which is basically "Normal reading/writing, but now we focus on our liberal teacher's pet political issues."

For decades, every time we've had "educational reform" it has conspicuously focused on making things easier for teachers.

The fact is the best way to learn is not to cream kids in a classroom and make them read from a book that was most likely written by someone with no knowledge or enthusiasm for the subject. The best way to learn is to say "Okay, kids, here are these fundamental laws. Now let's do something where they apply in reality, and you're going to do most of the work yourself, rather than following my instructions"

Normal fucking kids who are just dumber than the other kids get extra time, get to use calculators, and other nonsense just because they are stupid.
