Oil would be a product from the mantle of the earth, and thus we're not close to "using it all up" (although you would have to vary the locations in which you drill oil to allow it to pool again after depletion.)

Property taxes are some of the only taxes that almost universally make sense. It's very hard for many people to own property in a traditional sense because how can it be protected at all times or in all instances? When you leave your house on vacation it still needs to be protected. The government fulfills the role of protecting these property rights and using them to fund courts, police, etc. to enforce property rights which our society and economy are built on.

Western civilization. That's the answer to all your questions. Paganism, other faiths, atheism, none of that built the west. Christianity is the faith which did. It civilized western men, instilled good morals, and all of that is regardless of whether or not you believe in the supernatural aspects. Christianity has acted as the cultural cornerstone of western civilization.

When christianity dies, so too will the west. People who don't understand this need to travel the world and see how different things could be.
