Hello Comrades. This general is for the discussion of Marxism-Leninism, the ideology of revolutionary socialism and communism.

Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage.

What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

>Communism is a stage of society in which the productive infrastructure is socially owned, and goods are produced not in order to sell for profit, but in order to meet a social need.
>Communism in it's full form is a stateless, classless society that follows the maxim "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need."
>To achieve such a society Marxism-Leninism teaches us that we must replace the capitalist state, which is controlled by the capitalist class, by a socialist state, which is controlled by the working class. Then, a period of class struggle follows in which the capitalist class is liquidated by the working class. When the capitalist class has been completely vanquished, there will be only one class, the working class, and eventually the functions of the state will become indistinguishable from the functions of the society as a whole, and the state as such will 'wither away' as Marx said.

And there are two reasons for it.

1. Marxism is the most powerful scientific doctrine. It is the only theory that offers an explanation as to how societal constructs arise from simpler and natural conditions, attempts to analyse them in a rational and materialistic fashion.

Because of this, literally every sociological and politological innovation has arose from Marxism, including the criticism of democracy (western constitutionalism), and communism itself (concepts like authoritarianism/ totalitarianism etc.)

2. As Engels coined it, the dichotomy "Socialism or Barbarism". It means that there are 3 ideas about a future of humanity:
I. "We must return to the good ol' days and forever conserve soceity like that"
II. "Humanity doesn't deserve a future/I don't care about its future"
III. Communism as an Ideal and Socialism as a milestone.

That is why it is so resilient. Ultimately, every political and social organisation will co opt it. When the Soviet Union collapsed, it seemed like it's over. But Communist and socialist forces all over the world withstood and pushed back. Catholic Church that used to be staunchly anticommunist now has an unofficial Liberation Theology follower at its' head. Social democratic and labourist parties are returning to their Marxist roots. Socialism gains holding where it was never present.

I've taken a look at this board on the past and have not seen any discussion about this matter. Now somebody is bugging me about muh planet is coming muh planet x that and I really have a hard time believing in this.
