Is Man truly in the hands of his own fate? Lets look at it,

External forces and environments: If an asteroid were to hit causing a mass extinction as it presumably has in the past whipping all of us out. Are we really in control of our own fate? One could argue that we could create a device capable of deflecting such an asteroid. Then we the fate will truly be in our hands.

What about a disease epidemic? As disease and other sickness have often lead to the extinction of a species. One could argue that we could create a cure for that and then we will surely be in control of our own fate.

And food shortages/resource depletion/overpopulation: We will create a new paradigm or model to advance civilizations technology, living space and efficiently manage resources. We will advance Genetic engineering and surely we will be control of our own fate.

Internal sources: Cancer, disease, terminally illness and degeneration. Well we could create medicine to cure all sickness and illness and surely we will be in control of our own fate.

War, what if people turn on each other dragging everyone down in a hell storm of fire. Well we can evolve and learn to get a long.

This could go on forever the point being made is that our fate is in our hands for the most part. We have advanced capabilities to live on this planet in the way we want to. However people fail to see that all of the above is only in perfect theory. It could also go the opposite way and greed could cause us to perish because resources would be horded and depleted. Would it be at the hands of our own fate, it actually would.

Hear me out. I was watching investments in this crisis and the last two days the Chinese market barely moved even after "fire and fury". Today it is plummeting.
