They're a bit on the pink side, but a very nice set nonetheless

I added blue all over, took a little red out of the bottom, and thickened up the highlights.
They don't look too bad though, definitely within the realms of "aesthetic choice" as opposed to "holy fuck your scans are retarded".

i like what you did. did you just use a brush?

it was my first time using silverfast 8 and the plustek 8200i
>>
Ektar looks normal here, and it was a good choice. Velvia would also look good but wouldnt be as soft and warm, nostalgic looking. Maybe shoot Provia just to see how it looks.
Just looked up the 35ti, pretty unique camera OP

If I were you I'd try to get a MF or LF camera to get these kinds of scenes. Your composition is on point >>2747128

I use Gimp for editing.
I didn't use any brushes or gradients.
I use the curves interface for all colour editing.
I find a nice way to build up contrast and detail in highlights is to duplicate the image, set the blending mode to Multiply and then add a Grayscale Copy layer mask.
I then make a new layer from visible and bring the exposure back up a bit in curves.

is this a village???? wtf America how are you so beautiful
>>
>>2747444
The USA is extremely large, slightly larger than continental europe if I remember correctly. It's an extremely variable country. The Rockies, midwest, middle America, Texas, New York all feel like different countries. It's an incredible country, coming from an Australian who's mid way through exploring it. Currently stopped off in snowy Utah which is very picturesque

These two are the weakest, imo. I don't really get the first one at all, and I think the second could have used either more of the foreground thistles or cropping them entirely. The rest are great, though. Thanks for posting!

Fuck yeah Crested Butte! I have such a soft spot for that town, it's where so many of my summer and fall adventures begin. Hands down my favorite mountain town in Colorado, so easy to hang out around and camp and the people are far less douchey than many other towns.

I really enjoyed the thread, gave me some of those mountain town feels that I need to step back and capture sometime. Looks like you missed fall by a week but it's still beautiful there.

Pic related, here's a scan from right above Crested Butte this summer that I still haven't gotten around to doing anything with.

Learn to edit before criticizing others, lest you spread your ignorance.
What in the fucking world made you think the violet in those flowers looked good? The clash between the red highlights and the blue shades combined with the nearly hepatic yellow tint you gave to the sunlit greenery makes it look like the shaky picture of a cheap plastic floral arrangement topped with an orgy of chromatic aberration.

>>2750858
Gorgeous depth of colours and composition, shame the turquoise of the sky got burnt to the point it's nearly white. A very little bit of edition to bring it back could make this a spectacular picture.
>>
>>2750865

i thought you were attacking alexs original photo lol. you shouldnt even comment on troll edits, retard.
>>
>>2747122
Colors aren't bad, but the sky is really warm. I think that's what's throwing you off. Try cooling the images until the sky looks blue/neutral.
>>
I realise these are just snaps but here are a few comments:

>>2750832
Currently the lines and shapes support the water and mountains in the distance. But due to low visibility, this area can barely be seen. Meanwhile the foreground has high contrast and saturation, therefore taking all the attention. If you'd taken this shot after a storm for example, the background would be much more noticeable.
>>2750833
This one has a kinda cubist feel to it, but it just isn't strong enough to work. Too many parallel lines on the houses makes the scene lose depth, and the centered subject has a very poor figure to ground relationship.
>>2750847
Poorly balanced - there's nothing of interest on the left. The mass of yellow in the centre clashes with the rest of the colour palette, and is nowhere near strong enough to hold the image.
>>2750849
This is another one that suffers from the environment. The harsh sunlight creates a strong distracting shadow and the houses have high contrast. Also you'll want to aim higher. Everything in shadow down there is dead space.
>>2750855
Up until this point, every shot you've posted was out in the open, where we're surrounded by nature. Suddenly you spring this on us - the viewer is boxed in and everything we can see is man-made. On it's own this image is nothing special, but as a part of the set I find it quite tense.
>>2750858
You've created a nice polygonal frame here, but there's nothing to fill it. If there was a person standing on the roof then you'd be sorted, but at the moment its like hanging up a nice picture frame on your wall but with no picture inside it. Also try to avoid centered horizons.

How fucking poor are you?
Did you primarily shoot digital?
>>
>>2750848
This shot is wonderful I'm amazed with the colors.

I don't mean to gearfag but that OpticFilm is bringing the most potential out of these photos. DSLR scans don't even hold up to this. Do you do much processing after the scanning on that machine?
>>
>>2755329
i'm very poor but i brought many rolls. just only shot 4

>>2755359
i do some minor adjustments in lightroom after the scan.
>>
>>2748090
IMHO; this is too much sharpening and too contrasty

But CB is heaven; first rolled into Tailings on a late night in January of 1972; been going back to town ever since.

mmm, bait
700px and aggressive unsharp masking will fool you like that, dummy.

Fuck this is awesome! That town sure has grown, the street you're looking down has a visitor center at the end now and lots of distant houses. Must have been so quaint back then. Thanks for posting that man.

Disney was shooting Snowball Express in town that month and had dressed several of the buildings like this one.

Harry Morgan was a real party animal who was right at home after dark downtown.

This thread has turned into the most boring 70's post-vacation slide show ever.
Where is the life, where is the interest, where is the emotion, where is the light?
