Does /p/ do self portraits? I'm looking for inspiration or guidelines to help take a good photo of myself (that I can use a profile pic…)

pretty much any photo of yourself is pretty alright, i dont really like selfies on the forward facing phone camera but im assuming youre not even using a phone
mirror pics are decent if the mirror is in a decent location (like not a bathroom) but a mirror in a living room or reflection on a window are alright
it also depends on whether you want people to know if its a self portrait or not, and if youre taking a self portrait its either you want people to know its a self portrait or you have no one to take photos of you
if you want people to know its a self portrait then youre pretty much gonna have to use mirrors/reflections, vivian maier is good stuff to look at
if not then idk, just what youd do on another person but on yourself
not even joking. if you have a young niece/nephew, like 4 or 5, just set the camera settings and have auto focus on and have them take a shit ton of pictures of you doing whatever. those little kids can get some pretty neat pictures for just spamming the button and not giving a fuck.
google dating website selfies / profile photos
okcupid did a thing about it, some others likely did as well
Any interesting pointers about self portraits that aren't for profile pictures?

Mess around with colour
If you're not the most attractive person then either very soft colour (think polaroid) or just straight out B&W works wonders.
Just remember to use sharp focus for the latter or soft-ish for the former.
skin tip: make your skin bright if you're white
your brain thinks it's smoother if it's brighter
