What kind of file is it? With Raws some programms use a jpg preview. Either way there is no way around a calibrated monitor..

its a jpg that i processed from a raw in LR. opening it in gimp looks different than opening it in a different image viewer, and opening it in firefox looks different than in chrome. and if i open it in an image viewer then set it as my desktop, it looks different as my desktop background than when i opened it to view the image. im on my laptop which has a shit monitor no doubt but it shouldt look different based on what program is used to open it. i exported it in sRGB should i have used adobeRGB or something else

Go back to this spot and do this again. This is a perfect setting. I'd fill the entire frame with those trees and nothing else, shoot at late in the day before sunset on a clear day, and focus on the color and texture.

Yeah, don't use them. If you don't want overcooked photos then just use a little bit of curves and dodge and burn and the basic white balance, color, and exposure adjustments in LR.

If you're going for grainy look, you'd do better adding it in post instead of shooting at a higher ISO. If your f/11 was for depth of field and focus, I'd shoot f/8 instead, more light and likely a sharper stop on that particular lens. If you are worried about blur from handheld shots, 1/1000 is overkill on a stationary subject. It's also better to shoot without +/- EV unless you know why you're shooting with +/- EV. If none of these settings were intentional, read up on aperture, shutter speed and ISO and find out why I'm saying what I'm saying.
Also I'd work on your composition re: leading lines (straighten with horizon in a case like this) and framing (the tiny bit of black doorway in the upper right is too little to add to the picture, just enough to be distracting; the bench on the left should either be fully in frame, or more cut off).

I never understood why people shoot mf for the thin DOF, but then I usually stop down to at least f/5.6 if possible (usually shoot at f/8-11), so I guess it's just not my style. I enjoy the large negatives and the tonality more.

yeah leveling these things out takes a bit getting use to especially aiming. It's like inverted controls. What I learn from this is the best thing to do with a TLR camera is get a monopod at the very least.

I tell people what I like about their shots and mention what bothers me about them.

Also I don't think especially deep or empathetic about pictures of homeless I'm just tired of these pretty travel/vacation pictures which are completely disconnected from reality and in Colombia you have huge problems with internally displaced people which fled into urban areas and so you have a lot of problems with poverty. I accept that I can't assume everybody to look at a picture with my contextualisation in mind and yes I didn't really know how to tell that within only one picture, happy about input there, what I don't accept are "moral" presumptions/prejudice.
