Boys, I'm buying a G7. I am going to be doing some video projects next year. Is the 14-42mm kit lens good enough for general tomfoolery until I save up for some GOAT crisp primes?
I mean, even the so-so image of the kit lens will be 10x better than the cheapo camcorder I have now, right?
Or should I get the body only and get a different zoom lens?

It's fine yeah, there's no point getting the 14-140 and the only constant aperture zooms are the 12-35 and the 12-40, which, whilst a he'll of a lot better are a fair whack more money

Yes it is but don't expect any miracles from it. The 14-42 is a cheap kit lens which can be outperformed quite easily.
be sure to get that ultrasharp 20mm f1.7 pancake lens. It's a beast.
