general questions, I have been using the Sony A mount for a while and at this point, Sony pretty much said that they are going to abandon it.
So, what i want to ask is, how long do mounts typically last for. If I invest like $5,000 in going into the canon or nikon family, how long until it becomes unsupported?

That depends. A good photographer can take an amazing photo with anything. A good camera just gives you more possibilities and flexibility.
Biggest difference is the sensor size and better lenses on cameras.

Hi there /p/,

I am normally a patron of /o/ and am planning on taking a trip to Japan this fall. I am looking for a good point and shoot I can use for the trip.

Normally I am on my phone and it is ok. Last year my phone corrupted about 1/2 the pictures I took when I was in Aus.

I want to invest in a good Point and Shoot camera for my trips that I take and have narrowed it down to either the Sony RX100 or the Ricoh GR II. Both seem to be favorites of the internet. My main goal is to have a camera I can just pull out of the box with minimal tweaking and have some good quality pictures of like cars, city stuff, and landscapes.

Everything I can find doesn't really seem to narrow down the choice just that everyone likes these two cameras. Some also have the Powershot G7 X Mk2 as a favorite. What would you recommend without spending $600 for something portable that works out of the box. Would even an entry level mirror-less be worth it?

>tl;dr what is the best point and shoot for casual travel shots and pics of cars for under $600.00 US

>casual travel shots
totally the GR II
>pics of cars
GR maybe is too wide for this

anyhow, GR all the way my dude. also beware of the incoming autism in this thread.
>>
>>3146890
If all you need is portability than go with the gr ii, also the sony a6000 can be fitted with some small lenses too and can be had for good deals.

Even though that's my opinion I encourage you to make your own based off reviews and stuff. This place is biased af

Realistically, what are the advantages of this piece of shit?
>Expensive (a few hundred dollars off of being able to buy a FF camera)
>Fixed lens
>Dust magnet which means you'll have to throw away your expensive camera since it's impossible to clean
>No viewfinder
>Shit in low light
>Pics at 1600 iso+ look like shit

Why would anybody buy this over a DSLR/Mirrorless camera?
Why not just buy a top of the range APSC size camera and throw an 18mm lens on it. Tada, you now have a Ricoh GR II that is probably sharper and actually works in low light and doesn't shit itself the moment a piece of dust blows into it.

Only advantage it has is >muh stealth which is nothing.

Hello,

My name is Chosis and I am organizing the Jan 2018 /p/hotobook. Here are some ideas. Please feel free to add stuff to the public document found here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sEn08e6uAPBAcbSq51IrkAFu7giyawM9uBamkyqN2kU/edit

All submissions must be water mark free though there will be a ref section at the end where you can shill your brand. It will also be all color and high quality images I'm talking at least 8.5 x12inchs 300 DPI minimum resolution

Photography book

Ideas:

I was thinking we could have themes and subcategories for each

2. City/street
3. Portrait
White person
Black person
Asian person
4. Pictures that tell a strong narrative
e.g Man holding girl’s left hand while girl looks away in the distance, supposedly with a
scenic view in the background
5. Contrasts
Old vs young
Machine vs nature
Big vs small
6. Nature/landscape
Trees
Mountains
Water

This one is good, a book written in the 1800s that coverage Trumps time travel machine, one about barron trump finding access to the machine down a hole in the ice in russia

http://www.snopes.com/baron-trumps-marvelous-underground-journey/

that author also wrote a book called "last president" in which the president of the US "Don", resides in NYC and his building on 5th avenue is being rioted by socialists.

That's atleast a start. If you want to learn more, go ask /pol/ or /x/ about time travel and Trump

I've got a question that I'm not sure if /p/ or /g/ would be better answering. I'm trying to use my nikon d3300 as a video capture device for streaming through obs. I found this software called digicamcontrol that allows me to stream live view from my camera to the computer. Unfortunately the live view is very grainy compared to an image capture, as you can see in my picture. Is this because I'm streaming the live view over usb or is there something I'm missing? I tried adjusting the diopter which did not change much. I did order a mini hdmi cable to test out on Tuesday. Thanks for any help you can provide.
