Does Nikon make any decent looking DSLRs?
I own the F90x/N90x and I think it looks quite nice.
I'd rather stick to Nikon for digital because of my lenses but honestly most Nikon cameras I've seen look horrible.
Any options?
The DF looks better but no video is honestly stupid as shit and I won't pay that much for a digital camera which arbitrarily cut out video

I have a nikon f3 which is one of the prettiest cameras they have made in my opinion, got it mint condition at the register when it made a mistake. Instead of paying $500 I payed around $160. Keep in mind this was early 2000s and I was a kid.

almost forgot to post pic. not a model, but definitely prettier than a lot of cameras of the time.

Better than canon's.
How much you wanna spend? D7200 is the best bang for buck. Do you have non-ai lenses?
so who are some good photographers or Instagrams to check out for inspiration? I only really know William eggleston, Terry and Bruce gilden. any names would be sweet.
>>3097910
lads?
>>3097962
Depends on what you find inspiring
>>3097910
this question is as broad as your mother's ass
What is this for? Back when I took photo in college the prof made us use manual for everything and since then I just use aperture priority 90% of the time
I just use M and Ap for the types of togs I take. Very rarely I'll use Tv but most of my shots are still life and architecture.
P is almost auto but I think you get to choose the ISO
>>3097840
program mode is for people that understand exposure but don't need to use manual to impress plebs
Program is like Auto, except you can control the program to favor fast shutter or fast aperture, rather than sticking absolutely to a specific shutter or aperture. Some cameras have preset programs for certain situations. Pentax lenses have built-in MTF data that allow the camera to use MTF program mode which makes the program's chosen aperture biased towards the lens' resolution sweet spot.
Auto you have absolutely no say in anything.
I took pics for the town's yearly art gym group show because the town's photog wanted some help covering it
here's three that came out well enough, flash was unusable due to the distance and white background and people in charge of lights unable to do their job properly
post pics of this kind and comment on others so we all get a bit better

I think all these would've been much better if you were ground level atleast with the models. But that's just my opinion. I really enjoy this kind of photography but you don't see much of it.
I recently tried to shoot a few ballet schools and universities and got turned down for a number of legal reasons, it's really hard to get into, makes me sad.
If I want a photo to match the human eye in terms of distance distortion (i.e. make sure faces look accurate), how do I figure out which focal length to use?
Generally the focal length equivalent to the human eye is considered the normal. So, on APS-C it will be 35mm, on 35mm-full frame it'll be 50mm and on Medium format 80mm.
>>3097583
They all match the human eye.
People look different at different distances to the naked eye as well.
With a long focal length all you do is make a big picture of that people look like far away.
And with a short focal length you make a panorama, capturing what you can see if you turned your head a bit.
>>3097592
it's actually the diagonal for sensor size, so for full frame it's 42mm
so you have your choices of 35 & 50 with the occasional 40 being suggested. 35 will be slightly wider, 50 will be like a short tele and 40 the closest
I think all are equally boring but whatever floats your boat anon
Why is it that there is no cheap point and shoot camera that is actually any good? Despite all the advances in smartphone cameras and all digital cameras, we don't have a single great point and shoot camera. These "modern" high megapickes cameras get beaten by a simple auto 35mm film camera. What the fuck.

Because a digital camera is already expensive, so why should they create another niche camera nobody would ever buy because you know, smartphones.
There's already the ricoh gr but they aren't that popular so why should they invest in a camera which is way simpler and much more similar to a smartphone? Nonsense
>>3097255
That's sums it up nicely.
Digital is too expensive to be cheap, but, at the same time, everyone already got a camera in hands (which was the intention with cheap point n shoots).
Even least expensive digital cameras such as superzooms are meant to look like professional equipment, bc if you're investing on a digital camera, it better looks like a good camera (whether it actually is or not doesn't really matter much, bc it'll be limited to social media and by ease of use anyways).
>>3097255
Except smart phones can't even capture an image like the p&s in the Op, sure it does selfies but it's severely limited. Why not make a simple p&s with a 35 mm 2.8 fixed lens and a good sensor? That camera was made in 1997, there's no way it would still be super expensive to make.
Would appreciate feedback!

sideways af
Body: EOS 30D/40D/50D Lenses: EF-S 24mm and a 50mm 1.8.
Older bodies are just not good enough, and newer bodies are expensive and make files that are too big and too much of a hassle. The Nikon equivalent are just as good. If someone recommends a Sony, murder them on the spot. These people can't give good advice on technical OR artistic aspects of photography, so ignore them.
If you want to get all srs bzns and get really good, start with a Zorki 1c and the 50mm it comes with, to get a fundamental understanding of how to take a picture.

You already got your answer. This is the cliché VSCO look. Just desaturate your image and raise the blacks.
>>3096005
you want us to tell tyou how to acchive a unsaturated, low contrast look with rised blackpoint?
you lower the saturation, contrast and move your blackpoint

Hello 4chans,
I would like a nice, versatile camera so I can take photos for my instagram collections for the purposes of self-esteems. What is a good, affordable camera, that can do such things?

Old one is on the autosage >>2916584 finally have our own truck after being broke down 3 god damn weeks. Told the owner to take a hike, we got our own boogie now. 15' Kenworth, stepped on some toes to get it but we got it so expect more truckstop shenanigans, lot lizards (I still haven't found any to shoot but I promise as soon as I get approached I'll snap a few) and in the likely even we breakdown again, mechanics covered in sloppy grease, and the occasional landscape inbetween
We're stuck in Springfield for a few more days and we should be headed west into (((((snow))))) where my co-driver will likely shit his pants as he has never even seen the white stuff. Going over the Bonneville Salt Flats set again there's a lot of that set that I didn't post here and some other stuff since we can't go anywhere, and I'll probably walk the Brick District of Springfield again on the new glass before we go.
