Went back to Gent for a short visit and made some snap shits with my X100. Fucking festival ruined some of the views in the center though. Oh well!

There are a lot of cheap C-mount lenses on eBay. What's a good c mount camera to go with it? Preferably something digital or something that takes 35mm film.
Just get a nikon 1 or a BMPCC and stop being such a hipster. Unless you're literally Pablo Larrain there is absolutely no reason to shoot such small format film.

How come mobile photography wont advance it's sensor size?

lol shitty photos
I find that some of the photos on r/analog are amazing. But often I find that bad photos get 100s of upvotes rising to the top. Then when I constructively criticise these bad photos everyone gets butthurt.
I found a tree stand in my local forest, and am thinking of setting up some sort of bait and waiting to take photos of the wildlife that comes. Am I in any danger? If a bear saw me would it attack me?
>>3120071
Well first of all, do you even have bears where you live?
Second of all, they probably wouldn't go where you are if they could smell you. Humans are the worst and pretty much every animal around agrees.
>>3120074
yeah i have bears, deer, racoons, i saw a bobcat the other day. I just want to see what comes out because there is a lot on the mountain i didn't think was there.
>>3120071
>thinking of setting up some sort of bait
>Am I in any danger?
you bet!
this is highly illegal in many places and frowned upon in most others. if a game warden comes by expect a heavy fine, they don't care if you are shooting animals with a camera or a rifle when it comes to baiting and you could even face a poaching charge. what could be even worse is a die hard naturalist catches you baiting and boot fucks you in the woods.
by all means hang out in a blind and wait, time is the biggest price of hunting / nature photography. putting the time in will also earn you the respect of other nature guys / hunters, IE the only people other than you that will care about your photos.
Looking for feedback on the color I'm getting from my film, lens and scans. Any feedback in general is appreciate though.

I am a shitty photographer, but here ya go
i have way too many shots of trees
>>3119958
so im gonna dump them i guess
I've been working on my photography for about five months now. I have a wide range of subjects, from models to buildings to statues (I photograph a LOT of statues). Seems like most of my favorite shots are of people, though.
I've worked with about 5 models so far (mostly friends) and the shoots always seems to go disastrously wrong. Like, I'll spill the fuck out of my spaghetti, make the model uncomfortable, and end up with about 3-5 salvageable shots out of almost 200. I don't know how the fuck to work with models besides telling them to "act natural."
However, I absolutely love taking candid shots of people, especially when they don't know they're being photographed. You get a sense of truth in their relaxed state that you just can't replicate with a model who's conscious of the camera. But it seems risky- I live in New York, plenty of people here are edged to start a fight over anything.
Is there any reading material on methods and the ethics of candid street photography? Any good candid photographers I should study?
Thanks for any help. Gonna bump with some of my favorite candid shots, crit would be appreciated.

Street photography is a shitty meme and I would advise you to avoid it.
I'm not USA but I assume it's similar law wise in that you have no right to privacy in a public place, including photographs. Once you get in a private mall or something things change a little.
If you're worried about peoples reactions start by focusing on architecture, graffiti, traffic lights etc and work your way down until you feel comfortable a little invisible in your area.
Not sure but I assume NYC would have a few tough guys who'd confront you if you shot their photo. It's legal but not really "ok" as in just not cricket in a lot of places to just walk up to someone and tsk tsk tsk in their face. If you're subtle and not too close and not a fucking creep talking upskirts you should be fine most of the time.
That being said some people do enjoy the small interactions (from what I've heard), so trying to start a small chat and ask if you can take a few snaps is ok if the feel is right, but you're no longer shooting street photography at this point its just a portrait and probably a shitty one.
I can't recommend any reading or people to follow because street photography is a shitty meme and you should stick to getting your other shoots instead if you want to get better at photography. Practise composure exposure etc on an inanimate object until you've got it down so you have less to worry about with a model. From there the best advice I can give is have something in mind, if it's just a few certain shots for the area your in, or a certain feel. Something that's fun is to get some bonding in with your model before actually shooting. Take a few more candid shots of them flipping you off and making a stupid face, ask them if they can do a handstand or something. Will lighten the mode and relax both of you. Will keep the camera in their mind, but make them less afraid of it.
>>3118164
I might add a good place to start to feel more at home shooting around people is taking your shit to a place where photography is something everyone does and start there before you move into just the street. So like, fucking I dunno, fairs, festivals, the zoo etc.
>>3118164
>ask if you can take a few snaps
Nah, that would ruin the point. Then they're just a model, and like you said, probably a shitty one.
The point is to capture people acting normal, not mugging for the camera. Perfect example is this pic; I felt bad for taking it and so bought some food for the couple and asked to take more. The shots I took after were fucking atrocious.
As for >>3118172 you're right, a good chunk of my library is from parades, but I'm talking more candid stuff like pic related.

What do you guys think about this guy
https://youtu.be/kkIWW6vwrvM
it was a different time.
His entire body of work is the same unflattering, blurred, candid portrait over and over again.
There is no variation in his work, and his style got old for me fast.
>I don't care about the photo looking nice
>muh capturing the chaos
>muh capturing all the LIFE around me
>muh characters! I find characters!
It's not deep.
It's not meaningful.
It's just being a nuisance.
I feel like good street photographers are so rare. Most fall into the abundant clichés of the genre like homeless peoples' wrinkly faces.
And almost all have some sense of unwarranted self-importance.
>>3117741
i agree with you, lots of street togs end up replicating the same style thats been done before which is not
entirely bad, but it also hinders your creative ability to shoot with your own style and instead keep replicating the same shots over and over again.
does anyone know of any good street photographer to study up on?
