Do any of you own a secondary, compact camera and carry it with you everywhere and use that instead of your smartphone camera? Is there any point in doing it when you don't or can't carry your main camera or are you just being autistic at that point?

Smartphone cameras are really good now, so no I don't do that. Unless it's one of my little film cameras.

I have a Canon Powershot I carry because I don't have a smart phone. The flip phone I have does have a camera in it, and it isn't even that bad, so I've started carrying the point and shoot less.

I use a G1Xii. Phones are a communications device and pretty nifty for taking notes and checking the date and time. Wouldn't use them for much else though

Hey guys, so I found this photo and I'm not sure but something about it seems odd. I'm not quite sure but it makes me feel nostalgia and slightly nervous. It may be just be who thinks this but if not please let me know it's driving me crazy. It may be because the man is watering grass or there is a hard hat on in the middle of a field but that's not it

>A Dallas wedding photographer was awarded $1.08 million Friday in a defamation suit against a local blogger and her husband who launched a social media campaign that destroyed her business.
>Neely Moldovan, who at the time maintained the blog "A Complete Waste of Makeup," and her husband hired Polito's company to photograph their October 2014 wedding and the events leading up to it. Weeks after the ceremony, Neely Moldovan began emailing to ask when the high-resolution photos would be available.
>Polito's company reminded the couple that, as stated in the contract they signed, the photos would be released once the album was completed. The couple was required to submit an order form and select a cover photo before the album could be completed, but had not done so, according to the suit.
>After several weeks of back and forth and the couple's objection to paying $125 for the cover, Polito said she planned to absorb the cost to satisfy her customers.
>Two days after she emailed the couple, Polito learned they had contacted several local television stations and told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that Polito was "holding their photos hostage," according to the suit.

In my line work all the time, although my job has nothing to do with photography. When you work in industrial b2b, everyone is an enemy including your own corp's other departments.

I once caught a client using two year old photos on their reclamation of damaged goods by looking at the exif, which earned me the reputation of a god damn supahaxor among the 60yo coworkers.

Is there any point to upgrading from a decent entry level camera if I'm not shooting professionally?

I started out with a D3300 and eventually bought a D7200 when I got a little more serious about photography. My current kit cost me around 1000eur and does pretty much everything that I want. Therefore, I'm sort of wondering wh it is that people buy cameras like the 5D that costs way more than the D7200, when the image quality is largey the same. I don't see what cameras above the D7200 actually offer.

This isn't really me asking about whether or not I should upgrade personally, but moreso a request for an explanation as to why hobbyists would ever buy anything more expensive than something like the D7200.

I forgot to add that I know more expensive cameras can do things like having ridiculous ISOs and a few other weird features that show off new technology more than provide actual use. Again, I'm asking where the actual practical value would be in the more expensive cameras.

I love how that one picture sums up Islam so perfectly. No slurs, no presumptions, just an observation.

> an explanation as to why hobbyists would ever buy anything more expensive than something like the D7200.
The cameras+lenses involved are much more capable at producing nicer, higher resolution photos in various situations. With more reliability and speed on the AF and so on.

The same reasons why many professionals "need" to choose a good camera to be competitive, really.

It's absolutely not a special expense for a hobbiy anyhow. What is special is that it's one of the professions where the full set of the *most* adequate tools is relatively cheap.

When you unironically enjoy possibly the most normie photography yt channel with all its cheesy jokes and cringy glory.

I dunno, call me all thats wrong with the world, but I just keep whatching it mayne. The jokes are relatable, mayne.

There are many times when they should have done less jokes and made an attempt to explore a subject with more depth because it deserved it.

One notable example was this one:

"Pro DSLR + Cheapo Lens vs "Cheapo" DSLR + Pro Lens"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk5IMmEDWH4

Kai doesn't take the idea seriously at all and pretty well rigs everything in favor of the cheap camera + expensive lens combo. But I wonder how things would have turned out if he had actually tried to take advantage of the things the expensive camera offers over the cheap one like shooting fast action or having a 1.3x compared to 1.5x crop factor. I think they should have chosen two cameras a little father apart in capabilities as well, to stress the differences.
>>
>>3124704
Yea I was also disappointed by that one.

I would always cry internally at all the gear destruction he used to do at drtv, being someone who would never have that money.

Now he makes his own videos at Kai W on yt. Has a more serious tone. The stuff's still good.
>>
>>3124711
cry internally at all the gear destruction

you should stop being this autistic. those are not living beings, nor do they have any other type of value. if they were classic cameras that aren't manufactured anymore, you would make a bit of sense. I'm also poor btw
