Why is this genre so unpopular? In some situations, the best way to capture the scene is using a spherical image.

>Why is this genre so unpopular
The majority of people shooting it have no idea how to compose a panorama and it shows. They shoot it as a gimmeck and people got tired of it.

But there are so many abstract ways to process them. It's like a trippy type of Ansel Adams landscape shot.

Has anyone noticed a huge jump between using UHS-1 and UHS-2 cards? I buy a few new ones every year and I'm shopping around. I see lots of charts comparing speeds but that's all in a vacuum, I'm talking field work.
>>3134801
Depends on what camera you use. It doesn't matter if you have 300 MB/s write speed card but the camera is only capable of 36 MB/s

I must be doing something wrong in LightRoom. It's just crazy slow all the time. Importing, exporting searching files, etc.
It's just terrible.
I've gone back to opening raws in PS Camera Raw and just messing with shots in there.
Does it slow down a lot over time as you've added more photos? And can I just remove old photos as if they were never there after processing?
i've never had a problem with it, but common suggestions are to have it build standard or 1:1 previews on import if you don't already and to increase the cache size to 20gb+
>>3134769
Will give that a crack, thanks
I've got a little short of 630,000 photos loaded into Lightroom. It's not unusably slow. Like, I'm running it on a low-end laptop from 2012, so it's not blazingly fast, but it's perfectly usable.
How can be TLRs lenses so small compared to MF SLRs?
What's the benefit of focusing by bellows like the sl66 and mamiya?
What would be a half rolleiflex with a flipping mirror?
Optics mumbo jumbo.
It's funny because the two lenses you posted for comparison have about the same-sized front elements and the actual optics have more or less the same dimensions.
The only difference is the metal housing on the SLR - it has to contain a helicoid to change focus and the aperture with a stop-down mechanism with some sort of lever to connect with the body - and a solid lens mount to hold it all in place.
The rolleiflex's entire front side moves back and forth and the aperture lever sticks out directly from the mechanism. Also, longer flange distances force more complex optical designs.
>>3134628
Why would the flange distance be so different if both have mirrors? couldn't they made the hasselblad smaller and without a magazine? Look at the size of a pentacom 6.

Instagram was a mistake
I just picked this up for $50 of Craigslist (SLR Nikon F55). Im just getting into photography and thought this was a good start. Is it? I have a guy already offering me 2 bottles of whiskey for it. Whiskey is worth 80-90$. Should I just sell it for the whiskey (save money cause im going to buy whiskey anyways) and get a digital starter camera?
also (this will sound dumb) i didn't know it was film..... if you guys could recommend a starter camera for me. Ill be mostly taking shots at night of obscure things in the hood. I'm a wheatpaster for a guerilla marketing company so i work a lot at night in weird parts of the city.
Again I figured this would be a good spot to ask rather than starting my own thread ( i don't mean to derail)
the film alone would cost too much in the end? and not sure how ii would upload my pics online if i had to get the film developed.
Ok i think that's it..
THANKS!
but you did start your own thread

yeah waited a few hours got impatient :(
Your thoughts about geometry in photography?
>>3134420
Some geometries are more equal than others.
>>3134420
Absolutely meaningless ratios of numbers are used by people who suck at art to pretend their bad art is good art.
There's no scientific evidence whatever that any ratio has any significance in great art, or even good art. The one and only real guideline is not to have important subjects that are only on the very border (touching the edge/cut off)
Anywhere else in the frame is good.
I like it and shoot for geometry/balance most of the time
watching where the lines go and what shapes seem to fit where and how everything seems to balance in the frame is fun

Clueless amateur with EOS 700D.
I found a B+W Circular Polarisor in a box. Can /p/ give a brief "how to" on this thing?
I also found a Luxon skylight 1A in the same box. Should i just throw it?

skylight filters are pretty much only used for protecting your front lens
>>3134393
>Can /p/ give a brief "how to" on this thing?
you put it on your lens, then you go outside on a sunny day
put it on your lens and turn it till it looks good
please critique

where can i get a good film camera thats relatively cheap and can also last a long time, pic not related
>>3134335
ebay
if you want it to last a long time get something fully mechanical like a minolta srt something
Literally any vintage film SLR or rangefinder from a manufacturer that still exists today.
>>3134335
Nikon FM/FE
Literally indestructible and can work in -40 weather. The FM can even work without a battery.

Sky is blown the fuck out. Framing is way too tight. Aspect ratio is inappropriate. File is fucking huuuge. Not that I care but read the fucking sticky.
That said colours are good, location was good, so no need to kys just yet.
