god damn it, use the fucking stupid questions thread, its to contain shit like this.
your OP picture was taken using a film camera, you cant replicate those little strings on a DSLR without them looking like shit. So get a film camera and b&w film.
Otherwise, if youre gonna use a DSLR, just pop the raw file (i'm not going to go in detail about settings because you should already know this) into lightroom or camera raw, and convert to grayscale. Maybe lessen the clarity to achieve that blur. I'm not going to tell you how to get everything else right tho.
Fuck you, now delete this.
I've been using my Nikon D3200 for 4 years now and I feel like it's about time to upgrade. How often do you people upgrade? Do you have a set cycle or just upgrade when you see something that tickles your fancy?
When my camera breaks.
Been using the same body for 5 years now.
Every few years usually. 4-5. Just like a computer. Unless you can budge an extra year or two for the computer. It's doable. Just consumer tier plebs don't know how to.
Camera wise. 4-5 years if life expectancy with usual wear.
asap becouse i'm a gearfag but i'm also a poorfag so it's not very often
This is my first thunder!

>>2980442
comparing him to hitler is naive. the political movement backing trump is much more organized and much less likely to burn itself out.
>>2980444
Not sure if the burning thing was a pun, but nice joke. I voted for Trump in this election, but I'd say the two are similar in the sense of getting people excited. I think Hitler was able to excite people more than Trump, simply for the fact that people wont shut up about Trump literally being hitler. Hitler was widely loved because he pulled his country out of a deep depression and turned it into the most powerful country in Europe in a very short period of time.
Trump has similar economic ideas in the sense that he wants deregulated markets and nationalism (which shouldn't be considered a dirty word) it's simply being proud of your country, and putting your country first. Hitler had better speaking abilities that Trump does, but they can both get people excited about their own country. It's going to be hard though when a good portion of the country despises America
>oh hey bro you mind if we sit... OOHHHHHhhhh FUCK DUDE! Is that a fucking a6000?! No way, brah! That's fucking scandatious bombatious, my man. Why do I never see photography intentionally planned and framed? Like paintings and other forms of art.
I feel like I would enjoy photography a lot more if I could actually find more photos where everything had been planned and placed in such a way that it created an interesting picture. It seems like most people who're into photography just take pics of whatever random shit they find.
I'm not trying to sound like a shit or anything.

>Why do I never see photography intentionally planned and framed?
Because you're a scrub who doesn't know anything.
There is a long history of pictorial photography, starting (most obviously) with the Pictorialists around the twentieth century, like William Mortensen (pic related). Thanks to a vicious smear campaign by the landscape photographers of the 20's like Ansel Adams and his ilk, it fell out of fashion, though that doesn't mean it disappeared.
There is a strong pictorial sense that guides most portraiture. Any of one Annie Leibovitz's editorials look like a modern painting. There's also Joel Peter Witkin who beautifies the grotesque within a Baroque style. Yasumasa Morimura more explicity typifies the "painting style" with his series of self-portraits meant to pay homage to actual, real paintings.

It seems to me that mirrorless is going to be the future for entry level gear since it's going to be harder and harder to convince casual photographers to carry around a big-ass DSLR when they can just use their phone, but why isn't Canikon putting any effort into making more entry level mirrorless cameras, or mirrorless in general? Is there even still a market for cameras like the D3xxx series and EOS Rebel or has that space been eaten up by cameras like the Sony A6000?

Oh wow yet another thinly veiled sonyfag thread
probably just waiting for mirrorless to get on par with DSLR. let the small companies take the hits and make bad cameras so once the kinks get sorted out by sony/fuji/olympus they can jump into the market with something that steals all their tech but has better name recognition and better support.
sony is almost there with the a7 series but it's still not perfect. once sony has it nailed canikon will come through with an excellent camera that blows the sony out of the water.
>>2977233
Because mirrorless requires new sensor tech for good autofocus, and canon haven't invested in sensor tech for years.
Also, evfs are fucking expensive if you want to buy a good one, which is why sony are unbeatable on price/performance, they make their own. And is why the evf on canons and fujis last gen sucked dick.
And canon can't afford to come out with a new mount that jeopardises ef. If they keep their mirrorless as a joke, it won't concern their bread and butter professional clients.
is there any point in choosing an entry level dslr, say the nikon d5300, over a mirrorless camera like the a6000?
>>2979888
There is if you choose a Pentax K-70
battery life, autofocus, weather sealing
thats about it

What are your thoughts on this photo and how it is more famous and will be remembered more than any other photo of our times?
>>2979740
It's a very comfy photo. Watched a video interviewing the guy who took it. If I remember correctly, he shot it with large format film, and gave it to a stock agency.
He's happy about it, I like it. But its sade that photo can never be taken again, that area has been ripped up and replaced with some sort of farm land I think. Might have been taken in Palouse Oregon.
>>2979740
>All clouds totally blown out

>>2979754
It wasn't large format, it was a mamiya rz67 I think
What camcorder is that?
It's from "Project Almanac" movie
A dv camcoder, probably made around the late 90s or early 00s. Can't recognize the branding.
