How can I post DSLR photos to Instagram while maintaining the highest quality? Every time I post something, it compresses it to shit and it looks awful. I've looked everywhere and haven't found any answers. Please help.

Pic related is what I tried posting. Is 345 KB really too big for Instagram??
>>

I find I have to put 15-30% sharpness to my images I post to my IG for them to look like they do on my computer. It's odd that IG does that. Like when I go to post a new photo it looks soft instantly.
>>
>>2987949
Like through the in-app image editor I apply additional sharpening. The image I post is always the highest resolution to begin with.

How often do you take pictures?

Shooting a lot has nothing to do with pro. The picture is taken before you even press the shutter.

If a "pro" to you just someone operating a machine that's ok too.
>>
>>2987871
As often as possible?

Being a pro means you charge for your work. A lot of bad photographers are pro (which is fine by me, I don't really care).
>>
>>2987871
is the goal to become a pro?

Is photography an art to you, or a trade?

Did you know that just because something is white doesn't mean that it's always going to look white? Like, for example, maybe if I shine a red light on it? Or like, maybe when it's overcast or the sun has set and the only light source is blue?

"But, but, but, your eyes adjust for these things, so you should adjust your white balance for objective neutrality."

Nigga, eyesight and perception is subjective across the board, and don't tell me that when you've been sitting inside all day arguing about cameras, you haven't at least once in your life gone outside during a snowy twilight evening and have seen everything shrouded in blue.

Some nigga told me two years ago that my white balance was off (op pic not relevant to this) and it's been bothering me for two years. I had to finally get this autism off my chest because I hate it when people get butthurt when whites aren't always white. Whites AREN'T always white, nigga, deal with it. Go outside and actually look around for a few hours, and do that every day, before you make some universal claim about color perception you neuronazis.

This leaves no room for you to grow. No ISO control? Can't change the lens?

Look into the nikon or canon entry level DSLRs perhaps. The D3300 (nikon) or the T6/1300D (canon). Those are the only ones I've looked at so I can't advise in anything else.

Just wait until Fujifilm or some third party camera company tries to make a more *serious* Instax camera. Sure the MiNT is there, but you'd think by now they would take a hint after discontinuing one of the most iconic peel pack films ever produced and compensate. What a bunch of retards they were haha lmao aliens dude.

Either that or do what >>2983385 says and cop a Neo 90.

What's the best way to process files from a sigma (Foveon X3 sensor) for displaying online? More specifically, what's the best process for downscaling X3F files into ~1000px jpegs? I'm not really interested in editing the files that much, just figuring out how to get them from RAW to JPEG properly.

In the past my workflow has been to 1) convert the raw files to TIFFs in Sigma PhotoPro (with no other adjustment except white balance and exposure/fill light), 2) resize the TIFF to the desired dimensions/ppi in photoshop using the automatic resampling, 3) print them. No complaints there. But I can't figure out the best settings to generate small jpegs that don't look either over sharpened or all blurry. I must be fucking up somewhere but I'm not sure how. (I recently switched from CS5 to CS6 but IDK how that could be the issue.) Any help appreciated.

Pic related is a full-size jpeg straight from Sigma photopro that seems like especially allergic to any rescaling (probably because of the amount of details and lighting conditions). I'll post examples of the downscaling below.
