What do you think of instant cameras?

digital cameras?
>>2989508
They're really fun and great as just a novelty thing
I mostly see kids from like 17-19 use them just for fun, I guess the appeal is in having a neato looking print combined with that snapshot kinda look
Also the fact that every shot cost a shitload of money might teach younger kids something about photography
>At a baseball game
>See some girl with an Fuji instant
>Takes picture of herself and boyfriend
>Coworker thinks it's the coolest thing ever
>She ask her to take photos of us
>Pays her $5
>More money than I've net made with nearly 3K worth of gear
Been loving the point and shoot life lately. Starting out with a roll of Acros I used as a test roll for an XA2 I recently picked up.

I posted the first few of these in the /fgt/ thread a few days ago.
I really enjoy the XA2, moreso than the XA I used to have. After one roll I understand the scale focus distances and it's so much quicker than focusing via the RF patch on the OG XA.

There's more highlight detail on the neg but I don't think it's worth rescanning considering he's motion blurred anyway.

VSCO now does raw so probably anything but all tests show that apple os is much faster and smoother. so either iphone 6s plus or google pixel

This is the Film General Thread, aka FGT.
It's a place for you to post your film snapshits without flushing them down the Recent Photo Toilet.
>just posting in the FGT doesn't make you gay, unless you shoot half-frame
It is OK to ask about gear in this thread.
That image was shot on my Fuji GW690II and Velvia 50.
This one is also Velvia 50, but it's more thought out than the first shot. I had to take it in a rush, as the sun was setting fast.

Thank you. This one is Portra 160. Awesome film for this kind of setting.

Anything about lenses, cameras, mounts, systems, buying, pricing, selling, etc. GOES IN HERE!
Don't open new threads for gear-related issues.
No pointless (brand) arguments and dickwaving allowed! You have been warned! Just questions, answers and advice.
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here.
And don't forget, be polite.
I'll be a fag and repost my question from the last thread.
I got a samyang 12/2 that has a way too stiff focus ring.
Is it by design or is it badly greased?
Is it a doable project for myself, who is diy experienced, to re-grease it, or should I just send it in for an overpriced service?
Got pic related from my dad. (Minolta Programm 4000 AF)
I use ti on my Lumix G7 and it works, some threads on the internet say it doesnt fry newer cameras because it's properly wired etc.
It's bright as fuck but I cant go below 1/250s shutterspeed or else I'll get black curtain. Is that normal?
Also some tipes if I can slave this? can't find the manual online, well unless I pay for it.
>>2981452
If you have all the necessary tools and precision oriented then maybe it is doable. I had a focus ring stiffness before on a Sigma manual focus lens and it turned out a piece of felt got stuck under the ring, the end gluing separated and the felt doubled back a few millimeters. I cut off the loose end and it is fine now.
The problem is I don't have a JIS screwdriver set only philips and pozidriv and slightly scuffed the screws while putting it back together. Be careful on the torque, precision materials give in sooner than normal similar size parts.
Let's have a photography feels thread.
Whether it's out hobby or means of income, we all (hopefully) love what we do and we post here through mutual passion for it.
So whether it be good or bad, let's talk about some feels we get related to our mutual love for plastic and glass.
>tfw you do a photoshoot for some people and they all change their facebook profile pictures to photos you took
>tfw taking a bunch of photos throughout the day and finding out one you took that you thought was inconsequential actually turns out to be one of your favorites

>tfw the world looks so much nicer because you've taught yourself to look at it a different way
>tfw you make a nice thing people enjoy looking at because you saw what other couldn't

Could someone explain how this person edits their photos to look like this? Specifically the colours.
From what I can tell he has:
Crushed the blacks
Used brushes to increase exposure on the subjects
Increased the exposure in general
Maybe reduced the temperature?

I was thinking about putting a transparent sheet on the display of my Blackmagic 4K with lines on it (rules of third, golden ratio, etc.) to help with shot composition. Is there any kind of material I can put on that wouldn't interfere with the camera's touchscreen?

Fuck that's genius. I'll go buy some packs of those right now.
how about you just kill yourself instead, my man?
I have a Rode NTG2 Condenser Shotgun Microphone, but since I'll be attaching the mic to my camera for my upcoming project would the Rode VMPR VideoMic Pro be the better option? The huge plus for the VideoMic is being able to record sound right into the camera so I don't have to worry about using my Tascam. Would the VideoMic Pro's quality be up to par for a short film?
I'll be using a Blackmagic 4K for the short film.

Hey /p/, does anyone have experience here proposing projects to regional or state governments? My state has a lot of hydroelectric plants, in rural areas, and despite its importance to the entire state energy economy, it's not really talked about in urban areas. I'm interested in these feats of engineering and I'd love to take pictures of the inside and outside alike. Figure the easiest way to get inside is to have the government give me access. Is it possible to propose or request access, in return for offering them photos/a project as publicity for their infrastructure? I think cities and localities will do this to make themselves look attractive to tourists, and to their own residents even. I figure regional governments can't be much different.
>>2992269
The local government authority responsible for them will probably have a public relations officer whose job is to deal with media enquiries. PHONE them, explain what you want to do and ask whose permission you would need to obtain.
If you act courteously and professionally they will probably help you as best they can.
>>2992279
If I wanted to do it then, I should contact the state, right?
Should I maybe have a website ready to make me look like I'm professional enough for them to even take me seriously? As of this moment I don't have one. I really want to take this on as my first major project.
The other thing I should mention is that I want to do this with my 4x5 camera. Another worry is that my choice of equipment might seem ridiculous to them.

Hello /p/. I'm new here and want to get into photography. Which camera would you guys recommend I get? I want something around $200 but willing to pay more if it's necessary. I want to take nature photography and also dark ambient photography. Also, what photo editing software will I need? Thanks!

With a lens or without?
You will need Lightroom.
