How will natural light during the eclipse affect my normal snapshots? I read a tweet that said shadows are especially well defined during an eclipse. Eclipse : shadow :: golden hours : sunlight?

that literally means batshit. Nothing special's gonna happen during the eclipse unless you specifically zoom in on the sun
I'm someone who shoots film exclusively, and I haven't shot with my DSLR more than twice. I have a film SLR and many point and shoots that I use I was considering selling my DSLR since it get little to no use from me, but part of me wants to keep it becuase it's what a photographer is supposed to have
>>3136257
Keep it because you already own it and then if you decide to shoot digital it's there. No need to spend potentially more later down the road when you already spent money in one now.
>>3136257
What dslr do you have (doesnt matter, just curious) and what lenses do you have for it?
How does Akif get away with it guys?
>>3136220
Is this a photog I'm guessing? Looks like a cool style
>>3136220
Get away with what?
How does one go about photographing a solar eclipse?
I've seen videos and articles where people tried to do that, and melted their camera sensors. But they were all doing long exposures, and I haven't seen any for short exposures.
I have a D-SLR (D3100), and haven't taken photos of the sun before. But with the aperture and shutter speeds maxed out (minimised for the ISO). I also have an FDR-AX100/b, and I really cannot imagine doing damage to for pointing it at the sun with it set to similar settings. But the science doesn't seem to support me on this one.

Typo.

Whatever you do, don't look directly at your camera's screen while photographing the sun. You could damage your eyes.
So the googlesphere seems pretty fucking perplexed about this tethering issue. Anyone managed to work around this?
Camera's a Nikon D800
Lightroom 5 running on iOS
Pic related, no camera detected, while hooked up to the laptop.
The mf won't detect the camera no matter if I restart it, restart the software, put an empty card in it... I mean fuck, there must be a way, right?

Nikon customer service, probably.
They'll hopefully either figure out your camera's port (or something related) is broken, point you to the correct setting, or figure out nothing is wrong and you need to fix up things on Windows' side.
Other than the fashion of the bystanders, what is it about this picture that tells you it was taken in the early 90's? I've been reading about replicating vintage photography, most of which just means adding digital noise to replicate film grain, but they don't quite hit the mark. Something about the colors or the slight bloom in this photo just tells you that this was the early 90's. Can someone help me out here? Can this aesthetic be replicated digitally?

What if he was using a camera from 1978?
Would you still be able to tell it is the early 90's?
The answer is no, because you never could in the first place.
>Step 1
Find 90s looking things
>Step 2
Expose for highlights and use >800 ISO
>Step 3
Use 35-50mm equivalent and frame main subject in the center to see what's going on around the subject.
>Step 4
Very low contrast or very high contrast and dial back saturation a bit and vibrance, too, or just do black and white with low/high contrast
Always expose for highlights, though. More can be retrieved from shadows than blown-out highlights.
>Something about the colors or the slight bloom in this photo just tells you that this was the early 90's.
No, it doesn't.
There isn't an obscene amount of 90's fashion either, so it's hard to pinpoint the era. I could honestly think this photo was taken in the early-mid2000's if you didn't claim it to be from the 90's. Only thing that makes it look like it was from a different time it's that it's shot with film.
If you've ever noticed, seems our boy Matt here has a thing for Asian ladies.
You guys think he ever gets it in with any of them? You can sort of tell he may have boned Tina a few times.
Now he has a super cute Vietnamese girl named Stephanie in all his videos.
Does he have mad game? He mentions his wife a few times here and there but never post a pic of her.
Overall I enjoy his videos and have learned a few things for them.
Tina, Kay, and now Stephanie, damn Matt!
OP if you weren't such a faggot, you'd pull chicks too.
I mean, the bar's pretty low, this is Matt we're talking about.
He's married and good with people. He makes it looks easy and effortless that is the key to your question.
He just be himself.
Any shoe photography?
Please be a joke
>>3135969
No joke, I just love shoes, what's wrong with that?

I'm sorta into legs+ fetish, you know, girls and their stockings, heels, shoes etc. Your stuff is shit tho.
I'm traveling to Europe for a little over 5 weeks and want to upgrade my luggage since it's showing its age.
Does /p/ have any recommendations for bags (both personal item & carry-on) that are good for photography gear?
Are camera inserts good to have here?
I typically had been traveling with a full frame dSLR, a "standard" zoom and telephoto in a big ass briefcase
>>3135917
>Are camera inserts good to have here?
No.
They take up way too much space.
Just wrap your second lens in a T-shirt or something.
The only "special" requirement is you won't want a bag that is super easy to pickpocket from.
So no messenger bag or crap like that.
GORUCK GR0/1

>Does /p/ have any recommendations for bags (both personal item & carry-on) that are good for photography gear?
Sure, a typical backpack that could sit on your lap if necessary. Can be the typical smaller Chinese Lowepro, National Geographic, Caden yadda yadda (or the more expensive non-Chinese packs). Or if you prefer, just any mid-sized backpack.
Augment with a mid-sized rolling piece of luggage. That's just what you usually can put in a train or bus (one piece of the largest checked baggage also usually works SOMEHOW but is a lot less fun to stow away most of the time - try if you can't make do with a mid-sized one, it's not like you need srs provisions and gear to get around safely and comfortably in Europe).
> Are camera inserts good to have here?
Matter of taste. I generally don't bother with them myself. Not even for the $1k each lenses.
How can I make this green/red effect? Does anyone have a preset maybe?
Split tone it so you have fluoro green in the highlights and red in the shadows, give it an 'S' curve and you're good you fucking twit
>>3135884
>preset
It's neon light reflected off the side of a building
>>3135884
go in lightroom, to the tone curve box, choose the green curve, make a big s curve, go to the blue curve and drag it way the fuck down

The 35GTN is an aperture priority camera, therefore the only way of doing exposure comp is by changing the ISO
>>3135856
it still works well, that lens is great. I have had some blurry shots with mine though with the slower shutter speeds
>>3135855
Does anyone have any opinions on Fomapan 100? I have yet to try a roll but I hear it's a good cheap b/w

A broken, final guardian of the old white patriarchy. Judgmental and righteous as always, but no longer with the power of yore. Keeping watch, but resigned and defeated. His days of running the streets and laughing loudly with his mates are gone, and now his time is spent in reflection and melancholy. Too stubborn to change, too lost to fight, such is cycle of change in this crazy world.
It tells me "beginner amateur with babby's first zoom lens took their camera outside with them" or "another m43 troll thread". Remember to sage your posts people.
Is it wrong to only be interested in conflict photography?
