how do I GET GUD at getting up close to people and taking their picture whether they like it or not?
I shoot with a wide fixed lens. I recently had a guy yell at me and it's made me hesitant now. I can handle myself but I don't want my camera smashed
when do you ask for permission first, if at all? when do you simply fire away?
what do you do if someone gets irate?

Only one time i had someone putting his hand in front of my camera. And i took hundreds of people. But i am in Japan so it's easy mode.
What i do is try to take the pics while not looking in the vf. Try to predict where people would be so i place my camera before and people just enter my field. And if you want to look in the vf, don't look people into the eyes after the shot.

What's your editing technique for a normal photo?
I am currently using a mix of lightroom and photoshop.
Generally pretty good with photoshop (levels, curves, little corrections)
But I'd love to hear from people with alot of experience, especially with light room.
Also with sharpening, is there a best way to do this? I've looked around online a bit and there's nothing conclusive.
Also also, any random tips and tricks are welcome.

I can tell this was a quick capture and you weren't given much ability to do better than you did. As such, I won't point out anything technical about it because it is what it is. And it is a great catch. Top kek.
>>3008475
Great feel to it, kinda Silent Hill. Have you tried to even out the fog a bit so it isn't so muddy? And maybe play with the leveling? It feels like it tilts to the left in an odd way.
Why are so many people not editing their shots, just posting them straight from camera or with just basic temperature corrections?
People talk so much about gear around here but don't even bother to spend some time getting the best out of what they shoot.
Probably because they're newbies. I don't know a single person who has been doing this longer than six months who doesn't post process.
Newbie ideal, "I want to present things as they really are!!"
Generally the reason is being new, and frightened by the idea of processing their own pictures and (god forbid!) having an artistic vision. Most consumers prefer to operate an expensive bit of kit instead.
The next level is composition by zoom, or crop.
>>3007577
newbs tend to think that if you apply a color present on camera, its a more honest practice than using photoshop, too.
there was this local "pro" that was infatuated with the idea of SOOC pictures, so he did his portraits and they all had this retarded red cast on everything, grey shadows too, all his stuff had this soccer mom quality to it, it was sad and hilarious at the same time.
I spent $350 on this camera and the quality is disappointing. Even at the highest setting (60P) it still looks like junk. Even an iPhone looks better than this.
If by chance I am wrong and need to use different settings, please notify me.

Working on that right now. But when I export video from the camera from Premiere Pro (H.264) it looks even worse. Did I forget to check a box during export? H.264 makes it look like low res 30FPS junk.
What's a good 35mm SLR?
Olympus OM-2N. The light meter along with the Auto function make it one of the most foolproof 35mm SLRs.
Or you could go for a Canon/Nikon AF film SLR and keep the lenses if you ever want to go digital.
Also I think this is a question more appropriate for the gear thread, it doesn't merit its own thread.
>>3005457
Literally any with a meter and decent build. Nikon/Canon/Lolympus/Pentax/Minolta, there isn't much variation between them besides build quality and a function here and there.
>>3005457
As long as you don't spend over 50$ on your first SLR then I think you're good.
This is the Film General Thread: "Post Your Slide Snaps" Edition.
This is a place to post about anything film related. Processing, scanning, developing, gear, etc is all fair game.
>just posting in the FGT doesn't make you gay, unless the post doesn't contain an original film photograph of yours
SERIOUSLY INCLUDE A PHOTO WITH YOUR POST

Hey, got a question about Bronicas:
So I already own a Hasselblad 500c. Bought it when I was like 18. I only have the 80mm for it. Want to get other lenses, but they run at least 500$ apiece for even the most basic shit (120mm, 50mm). Is there any appreciable difference in image quality for the lens glass between Hasselblads and other 6x6 MF cameras? Is it cheaper to just grab a Bronica body and 3 lenses (normal, semi-long/portrait, and wide) than go for another 2 lenses with the Hasselblad?
Asking again for more feedback.
Also here's a contact print I fucked up.

He's trying pretty hard to stay relevant now.
Things you may have noticed from the last 6 months.
>he now uses a thumbnail style similar to other youtubers
>he's tried hard to copy Matt Day's style since he got popular
>Ted now gearfags a lot more making videos for P&S announcements that he hasn't seen

>HE ALSO TRIES THE CASEY NEISTAT TITLE THING WHICH KINDA WORKS FOR HIM SINCE JUST LIKE A CASEY NEISTAT TITLE YOU FEEL LIED TO BECAUSE IT TAKES 8 FUCKING MINUTES FOR HIM TO GET TO THE POINT
Never forget ted's dusty, messy apartment with cats and cardboard boxes everywhere.
What are some /p/ related jootubers that are worth watching?
I'm setting up a live stream for a church tomorrow and we're beta testing a couple ideas. They're wanting to be able to live stream the service via youtube live and we're planning on mounting a DSLR camera or a Mirrorless camera on wall.
I'm suggesting the sony a6000 and a zoom lens.
I'm planning on running the camera through their iMac using a capture card and using OSB studio.
Very similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWQK6jccDq0
My only concern with this setup is that the camera seems to turn off after about 30 min of use or overheats. They'd also like the ability to pan and zoom remotely. I dont know if this can be achieved through the sony play memories app(the zooming part) I know panning will require a special kind of mount.
Any suggestions on how to go about this as well as any equipment that you feel would be a better solution, I'm so open for suggestions.
Thanks you guys!

Just made my first contact sheet today. How can I improve it, /p/?
I'm using fomapan paper and developing in D-76. I used a flash to expose the paper.
I now the scan is shit, I just used a normal flatbed scanner and I didn't clean it.

You could try giving the paper the exposure needs.
>>3010924
I don't have an enlarger how can I do that?
>>3011014
Expose the paper for longer or shorter than you're already doing or increase/decrease the intensity of light (this can be done by moving the light farther away).
Any help will be greatly appreciated. What is this model of camera?
