You want a fast shutter speed. Something like 1/1000. I would try setting the camera to A (aperture priority) then set it to about f6 or f8 then raise your ISO in the settings until your shutter speed is at least 1/1000.
>>3014237
Thank you. I have set it at iso 800 and f8 and my shutter speed when looking out the window is 2000. Do i leave it like this or do i lower settings until its at 1000?
>>3014251
Not him but you might want a smaller iso, test it to see if It's a fast enough shutter speed at 1000
whats the most expensive camera you've used /p/?

What exactly gives film it's special look? Even medium format and up where there is no visible grain you can often tell the image is film. The colors, light and shadow just flow together so smoothly. What's the secret?
The contrast and colour tones.
>>3013966
What does that mean exactly?
film is perfect and comfy.
Should i consider myself a photographer if my favorite step of making is the postprocessing?
>>3013604
Yes.
i would love to see a before-after post processing thread
>>3013604
totally.
there are german """"""""""photographers"""""""" that have made their whole careers by making books and shows with archive photos that arent even theirs. compared to them youre a total protog.
I did my first street photography shoot by myself. honestly i didn't expect it to be so presurisng, so many people would look at me or react once i brought my camera up and some one who looked like lil-wang comfronted me for taking a picture of him. but overall i think i did pretty good, It brought my confidence a bit up. critizes my photos please.

Hey fuckers
Can anyone suggest a decent (<£500) lighting kit for a small studio, for shooting people & products?
Just getting back into the photo game after a few years out. I've got Paul C. Buff Alienbees from Murica but I've no idea if they're any good? I can't even remember how to make them work in the UK, probably need a transformer since they're UK voltage? I barely know what I'm talking about.
Appreciate yo opinions
>>3012987
Meant US voltage*
bumpy
>>3012987
Buy some Godox gear off China, that's just about the cheapest option for decent enough studio lights.
I'm really not sure <500GBP is enough anyhow.
Yea you can also use a transformer, I think it will cost like 1/4-1/3 of your budget though.
>the photo lab next door to my apartment charges $25 PER FRAME for high res 35mm scans
>6.50 for processing black and whites with a 2 dollar fee for push/pull
>prices so awful they're the reason I learned how to develop my own bw
Anyone else getting fucked over by labs?
There's a professional darkroom/arthouse an hour from me that rents out for $10 with a $35 per year membership fee.
>>3012672
you'll spend more on gas than on processing
Look at it this way: once you've paid off your dev gear and scanner, you'll be saving money every time.
Scanning just a single roll would pay for a $900 scanner, for example. A D700 or some such and a rudimentary macro setup.

Anyone use this camera? What are your thoughts?
>>3003108
I'm poor, OP, sorry.
I'm fine with my yashica rangefinder.
>>3003148
There are two versions:
"GW690", with a 90mm lens (35mm equiv. is about 40mm i think)
"GSW690" with a 65mm lens.
Seems like the consensus on other forums is that the lenses on these cameras are extremely sharp and excellent, though every time I hear something like that I just assume its fan-boy shit and take it with a grain of salt. The sharpest MFs I have seen with my own eyes are the Mamiya 7 and Hasselblad. I am curious if these are on par or somehow better than the 7 (doubt it), because even if they are just on par, the price is really pretty great for these it seems. ~500 dollars USD for 6x9 in a rangefinder package seems like a great deal to me, but I want input on this first.
I also wonder about how monstrous this camera really is. RF cameras are usually cool because they are really low-key and easy to bring out into public without looking too awkward, especially when shooting. Does this camera completely ruin that? As opposed to a Hasselblad or RB67, I assume this is still better/more incognito compared to those huge things, but It's hard to tell from online photos or videos.
My overall question would be: Is this camera easy to travel with at all or am I underestimating it?
>>3003116
Medium format is just another ballpark. 6x9 photographs are some of the largest you can get on roll film, so I think ~500 bucks is a pretty decent price if what they say about the lenses of these is true.
Tell me what you think.
It's called 'A gentle look'.
Underexposed.

I'd call it "4 stops under"

season + episode?
How can you learn (advanced) color theory and editing for photography? Whenever I take photographs and edit them I don't have a clear idea of what I am doing. Color is one of the most important things in a photograph for me yet I don't really understand it. I will play around with the sliders in the image editor thinking that I got some nice colors but then people might tell me that the color looks terrible. Like in critiques I sometimes see people point out that a photo has bad white balance or a color tint when I don't notice anything wrong. I do just very basic 1-dimensional editing meaning I will just go through every setting and play with the slider until I get something I like without having a final result in mind and the idea of how every setting contributes to it.
>>3013327
first, get a good display.
second, think about what you want to say with the photos, then add that aesthetic to them. its not difficult but you have to be aware of trends and how to dissect them so you can stick to one, or make your own built on elements of different ones.
>>3013327
there isn't really anything advanced about color theory. you get different effects if you restrict the palette in all or part of your picture. contrast is highest between opposing pieces of the color wheel. people associate red with warmth and blue with cold. congrats, you just saved yourself four years of art school!
>>3013327

>>3013056

>>3013057
Fuck off.
You have to get creative bro. Start exploring. Got a car? A public transportation system?
Sorry bro, if you don't have a general idea in mind and you want to use your camera, you are gonna have to "just shoot"
>>3013058
I have many ideas but this city/general area doesn't have good spots that fit those ideas.
I'm a hell of a good photographer, but I always worked B&W (digital). I seem to have trouble to maintain a picture-wide invariance in colours. When I post-process a colour picture, I have to correct the colours in regard to what looks best in this specific situation. But this leads to the pictures look inconsistent when hold next to each other.
How do you photogs achieve a monolithic look among you pictures?
>inb4 film ... I know.
>>3012363
Just be more consistent.
You'll get there with practice.
Just shoot JPEG and get it right in camera nerd
>>3012363
You can use color cards and cameras that are not so variant with regards to ISO setting and colours to help you a bit.
