This is the Film General Thread: "Film is Fun" Edition.
This is a place to post about anything film related. Processing, scanning, developing, gear, etc is all fair game.
>just posting in the FGT doesn't make you gay, unless you post those fucking ADOX CMS 20 example photos

On average, what size could I print 6x45 images shot on ISO 160 film, generally in broad daylight so with a reasonably fast shutter speed?
Mulling over whether I should go 6x9 or 6x45 for my first foray into MF but I won't print excessively large (nothing larger than 30" on the short side)
Hey guys, can we please have a street photography thread without pictures of people, I need inspiration.

it doesnt. but you wasted it. doesnt need the foreground, needs to focus only on repetition. maybe a crop could help. accentuate the oddity.

Nikon d500 or a Sony a6500?
Is mirrorless the future or should I go with the tried and true Nikon? I'm wanting to start making money from photography here soon.
Thanks guys.
>>3013389
what are you shooting? unless you're shooting sports the d500 is a lousy idea
>>3013390
What are you on about? The D500 is primarily a sports camera, yes, but it can do anything else too including events and portraiture.
It's like you never held a camera in your hands before.
>>3013389
>I'm wanting to start making money from photography here soon.
Unless you're famous, there are basically 3 ways to make money from photography
1. Weddings and vanity photo shoots
2. Real estate
3. Being a staff photographer in some big company
D500 isn't optimal for any of these, and A6500 isn't particularly great either.
Hi friends, back with another round of photos for the photo series I'm working on. I'm doing a photo series of a major industrial area close to where I live here in Japan. Inspired by the circlejerk that revolves around Japan, my goal is to show another side of the country that isn't temples or hyper-urban downtown cores (which make up a minuscule part of the country).
I posted a thread with my first round of images a few months ago. For this thread, I'll start with new images that I haven't posted before (some of which probably need to be culled). After posting those, I'll add the 'keepers' from the first round I shot. At this point I think I have too many 'landscape' shots and not enough people/lifestyle shots. Posting these for critique, both as individual photos and as a set as a whole. Cheers.

interesting subject.

Why are there two RPT's and one isn't even maxed?
Please stop.
better question, why is there a fucking film general?
"we are unique film shooters with unique setbacks and challenges and we need a safe space to discuss our latest purchase of xtol"
Fuck that. I'd rather 3 three RPTs, or even better, 3 themed photo threads.
Please stop.

real question; where is our mod? this shit should have been cleaned up awhile ago.
>>3017170
t. cucked mr. o'sullivan, the salty one.
The absolute worst kind of photographer is the brainwashed ideologue. They disdainfully refer to the most interesting photos as "snapshots" while pursuing pointless arbitrary subjects and scenes they've been told are appropriate: urban grit and grime (esp in b&w), wet concrete, unnattractive people on the street, unnecessary shallow DOF, pointless macros of uninteresting objects, etc. In other words nothing that a normal sane person would be remotely interested in. Want to create a good photographer? Find an ordinary person who's never been corrupted by the above, give them a camera and let them use it. Then go back with them and look through the photos and teach them technique (how to use the camera optimally without the ideological crap), and they will be far ahead of the brainwashed artsy-fartsy types.
Nice blogpost.
>>3015824
the worst kind of photographer, are the ones who only rant on the internet instead of actually taking photos.
Someone just learned about idealogues for the first time.
I have to make a choice between to two soon. Plz help me make this decision.
>>3013621
Neither. A7iii is imminent. Get that assuming they don't fuck it up.
Otherwise get a7rii, a7ii is a dog. Get a6500 if on a budget.
>>3013625
/thread
>>3013625
What's wrong with the A7ii in particular? Menu, performance, speed, ergonomics?
What lens do I need to shoot photos like pic related?
Is it possible to do it with a 70-200 lens for example?
>>3013385
You don't need any specific lens or camera, you need an understanding of composition.
This scene could easily be done on the lens you mentioned
>>3013385
What's this shit /p/ always says about never having the horizon at the midway point?

We started into instagram bussines two months ago
We get around 1k likes and 200 comments per post
9K followers and growing arround 200 per day, (all from a city in Culombia)
IG account actually producing arround 100 usd per week
Just a Galaxy S5 as my gear
Few knowledge about photography
Any creative suggestion about the pics or what should be the first buy with the Instagram budget

Never heard of it before now but looks cool as shit. Smartphones have made it kinda redundant though, really surprised they're still pumping out new models.
I have a wideux, similar. It's not like an xpan or similar camera, there can be a lot of distortion. I find them really cool though. Also look on the actor Jeff Bridges website, hes a big fan of them.

Kinda, but stitching still causes some problems sometimes.
I think a digital version would be pretty nice if it's cheap.
