My opinion... absolute trash.

Is this literal the only photo you posted? There are 3 /rpt/ threads rn. Don't start a new thread just for your ugly ass snapshit.
While I do like shooting old abandoned things, this is over exposed with no context. If you are going to shoot equipment you need to find an interesting part of it to focus on, or show the whole machine in its surroundings.
Hi guys! Sorry if I am breaking any rules but how can you acheive an image like this? Thanks in advance!
upload a split toned image of a inbred looking girl on instagram and screenshot it on your phone
>>3019216
link up with a model
go to an environment around your area that looks like that
have the model face the sun (you can see where the light is coming from when you look at the reference picture)
have the model pose exactly like that
and click
if you want the mountains and stuff just shop them in if there's nothing like that in your location
>>3019219
Firstly, *an
Secondly, I didn't upload that but thanks.
I used to love books with this kind of pictures
Surprisingly not really. They're extremely simple to make but very few people are capable of controlling their eyes enough to view stereoscopic pairs without some form of aid. I'd love to make more of'em but almost no one I know can view them.
>>3017818
I like that one, nice 3D effect.
But yeah, not going to spend hours sitting cross-eyes behind my screen.
Maybe when VR headsets become popular it will take off.
Yes. 3DPRK was released late last year that included a viewer and 3d cards. It was a pretty decent package to own.
School has been crazy for me, so this weekend was the first time in a while that I've really been able to take out my Pentax K1 (my first DSLR) with a couple 1990's F & FA lenses to play with. I've slowly been getting accustomed to it and the DSLR functionality, and really enjoying it!
These are a handful of images that I've taken over the last 48 hours for critiques, commentary and criticism! :D

Been shooting with a D200 for a few years now, and will be upgrading to my first digital full frame body very soon. I have the D810 in mind as it seems to be capable of doing all that I need out of it and it's in my price budget.
Any of you guys have experience with it? Anything you really like or dislike about it?

It'll blow your mind what the D810 is capable of, compared to your D200. It's a monumental upgrade in every conceivable way.
My only advice is wait for the D850 or whatever it is to release. Should be soon, as the D810 has a few years on it already. You can either then buy the new D850, or buy a used D810 for much cheaper than you can now.
Don't be afraid to look at other brands either, unless you have to many lenses that will work for full frame. I'd stay away from cannon but sony definitely has a lot of perks. Nikon is great though pretty much anything in the D810 range will give you great pictures.

>It'll blow your mind what the D810 is capable of, compared to your D200. It's a monumental upgrade in every conceivable way.
That's great to hear. I'm sure the D850 will probably drop at close to $3000 upon release, which I probably can't afford. I'm actually getting a good deal on the D810 brand new, which is why I'm going for that. I'm sure that even being a few years old, it won't be obsolete for a good while.
Don't you feel guilty/ashamed too think of yourself as an artist when so many great ones had to learn a much harder craft like painting, playing an instrument or sculpting?
i mean, i'm not making masterpieces over here. Hell, I don't even aspire to. Getting a picture that more than a handful of people give a shit about would make me happy.
No, I've studied and practiced classic instrumentation since I was 9. A camera is just a neat invention to capture images of the real world. If you want to make art with your camera, go ahead. I have from time to time, but generally when I want to make art, it's not a camera I reach for.
>>3020584
confirmed never gonna make it
Has anybody read Tony Northrups books? Are they worth picking up? It's got 5 stars on Amazon with like 2000 reviews so that's gotta count for something
What do you expect to learn from this book that hasn't been said better already?
I read it. It's elementary, and his work is tacky, but sometimes that's a good place to start.

Fuck do I know, that's why I ask if it's worth buying
why do people leave the tripod mount on when they never use it?
>>3018617
maybe they do when you're not looking
>>3018617
How do you know they never use it?
Why does OP have to be a giant faggot making shit ass threads like this?
Mine sticks on the tripod and I can clip my lens on.
any other way seems retardo.

Hey, /p/.
I just got into photography again and finally saved up and got my first camera. I took a try at it before but lost confidence because I don't know any of the technical terms and functions and I'm really just winging it.
I'd like to think that I'm not too bad but I think I could do a lot better if I knew the theory behind the practice so I know what I'm actually doing when I use my camera.
Does anyone have a quick crash course on all the basics I should know and resources to learn more about them?
Here's some recent pictures I took to warm up and learn my way around my new camera.
>>3020232
>>3020234
This is my least favorite, it was an attempt at HDR using bracketed exposure with a shaky Chinese pos tripod. And the compression is shit because I pulled them off messages I sent because I'm not at my computer to compress them to post on here.
>>3020232
Winging it is fine, watch a tutorial on your camera model to learn things. Take lots of pictures until you know what you're doing. I started out taking terrible pictures and it wasn't until a couple months later I was happy with my shooting.
>Sony A Mount
Be honest, is it a dead system? How long until Sony kills it off completely?
>They wont
Why not? Once mirrorless can focus as fast and as reliable as DSLRs why would they keep the A mount system around?
>bigger battery
>ergonomics
hurrdurr they can add a bigger battery and make a more ergonomic E mount camera, even the new EM1II is reportedly getting over 1000 shots per charge (and its only rated at 400).
This isnt a troll thread, I like the A Mount system, but I cant pull the trigger on one with knowing that it could be killed off at any moment (especially with Sonys history).

>>3012242
It's a dead system *once* Sony kills it off or releases stopped for some years.
> Once mirrorless can focus as fast and as reliable as DSLRs
This already happened. A-mount is still not dead yet.
But obviously the E-mount is more attractive to most at this point.
> I cant pull the trigger on one with knowing that it could be killed off at any moment
So what? If you like your A-mount, you use it until you no longer like it, then you just migrate.
Or you get an E-mount or CaNikon or something now and hope they don't die. If they die anyhow, you migrate. Very simple.
Real talk, it's not like the Alpha mount needs anything more.

How do you balance travel and getting good shots? Do you bring a compliment of lenses or a travel lens set?
Currently I just bring my 60D, 24-105, and then 10-18. Sometimes I miss some macro shot, long range shot, etc that if I brought all my lenses I coulda had. At the same time I don't want to have to walk around all day with 4 extra lenses and shit on vacation and have to plan my day around photography.
I'm going to Italy for 10 nights in 2 months and plan to just bring the kit mentioned above, get up one day early to take some nice shots at sunrise in each city I go to, scouted a few and wrote down some ideas, and then snapshot the rest.
Anyone else do more? How do you manage walking around with all the gear and shit? It sucks having to bring a camera bag around into restaurants, etc.

honestly.. why?

A few months ago (at Christmas) I was gifted an old Zorki 4 camera and I immediately started using it after learning how to operate a camera despite having no prior knowledge in photography. I'm still experimenting (fucking around) a lot but I have since had a lot of film developed and one thing that specifically bugs me is that something is always off about the orientation and composition of my photos. I was wondering whether the view that I see through my viewfinder is that much different than what my lens actually captures, because most of my photos reveal that my camera is terribly unaligned with the ground, I tilt it in slight angles without feeling it and I seem to cut off large parts of peoples' bodies (sometimes I accidentally end up just photographing their heads). Are there any tips to better feel how you're holding the camera and not to fuck up the composition too much?
I don't want to post too many photos with people in them because they probably wouldn't like getting their photos posted on the internet (I know it's stupid and no one shares them, but I'm just paranoid), so I can post just a few pics to illustrate my point of how inept I am at composing a shot.
You've probably already guessed that I don't have a tripod or anything, and I don't really plan on getting one because taking pics is just a really little hobby for me, but I'm looking to improve.

I don't know what my EXIF means, it's just that I got my film developed at a fuji company store.
Another quick question: what's with the little light streaks that show up on top of some of my dark photos? They look like little lights in pic related. They turn up occasionally in this line pattern at the very top. I have a feeling that the film inside my camera gets slightly scratched when advancing/rolling the film, but I don't know. They don't turn up in every photo, but you can sometimes see them in even slightly lighter photos.

Hey guys, I'm sure some of you are familiar with Nguan's work. I understand he uses a 6x6 medium format camera and the low contrast pastel colours are from the type of film stock he uses and apparently a cast his scanner makes (according to an interview). But how can I get similar results in Photoshop?
>>3018758
Overexpose portra on mf or larger
>>3018759
I know he overexposes and develops normally, but I've asked how can I do it Photoshop?
>>3018768
Take an overexposed shot on portra, scan it into your computer, open it in photoshop.
