How can I take good pictures of cars at night?

I see a lot of pictures of cars taken at night and they look incredible, but mine always come out grainy or blurry as shit.

Is it because there's not enough lighting?

Yes, their photo has been probably taken in a large city like Tokyo, because of the pollution in the air it has more electric particles = more light in your photos
>>
>>3039771
I know this is a joke, but:

1. This is in Victoria, Australia. I also live in Victoria, Australia.
2. Tokyo doesn't have pollution in the air. You're confusing Japan with China.

I'm planning a basic course on photography and want to hear some easily forgotten theory, tips and tricks for beginners. In other words, what should beginners know that is often not taught to them for whatever reason?

The best tip a beginner can take is to invest in a Sony a6000 and the e mount platform.

Starting a new thread because I believe this goes a bit beyond what I could get out of the film thread.

I currently use a Canoscan 9000f II and seem to get varied results out of it. Sometimes I get really sharp scans and other times I get images that are very unsharp, almost out of focus. I scan in tiff format and don't apply any presets or settings that the scanner offers, with some sharpness added inside of LR I get some decent results most of the time.

Now my question really is that am I developing wrong or am I scanning wrong, I don't know where the fault is but I know I'm doing something wrong to consistently get shitty results. Maybe I don't let my film dry long enough so it doesn't sit flat on the scanner? I only dry it for around 40 minutes.

Any tips would be great, also feel free to discuss other scanning related stuff in this thread.

Dry the film until it is dry. After that, Let it sit (in a sleeve of course) under some heavy books for a day or two and it should be flat. Another tip is to put the film directly on the glas, instead of the film holder (just place the holder on top of the film) as you can get slightly sharper pictures that way.

Also posting a few examples might help

With a wide lens and a single on-camera strobe.
>>
>>3038993

Direct flash and unflatteringly wide to portraits lens.

why would you want to make pictures like that one?

Other than a model, you just need a kit lens and pop up flash

Hi, I'm a student taking a photography course. One of the course report tasks is to find a artist to refer to. I want to base my project on glitch art. Are there any glitch art photographers with a decent following and consistent use of the genre.

P.S. That pic was edited in a rush. I would add in more definition of the vertical "glitch" lines and probably add some horizontal glitch aspects as well.
>>
for digishit:
just convert a snapshit to text, edit a view lines, convert back
for film:
make actual pretty double exposures, and frame overlaps
kill yourself

>CANON or NIKON

Honest question, seems like Nikon produces better bodies (sorry Canon friendos) but also looks like they are going to commit sepuku soon for their shamefur financial results.

Canon going strong as always, and has a way better flash system.

How the fuck do I choose? I am coming from a meme mirrorless system and will be jumping right into their higher end /pro/ gear.

What's wrong with Sony? Nothing says pro like a single card slot and 35 MB/s write speeds right?

It literally takes over a second, at best, to write a RAW file. How pathetic.

Why do people shit on lo-fi so much. I get that it's hipstery and pretentious, but honestly so is photography. The only difference is one shoots for organic realism, and one shoots for nostalgic astetic. I personally shoot for both and think photographers and lomographers are equally cringy. You guys need to get over yourselves.

hi /p/

i found a minolta srt101 in my father's belongings and bought some afgaphoto vista plus 200 and shot a roll of film

should i go to costco or CVS? is there anything i need to do to the roll of film or is there anything i should tell them or know before i go?

develop it yourself. you don't need a darkroom if you treat the film with bleach before you process it.
>>
>>3038678
>look mom im posting on 4chan

Just take it to costco and tell them to develop it and scan it to a cd. There's nothing special to tell them unless your pushing/pulling the film.

Dont try and develop it yourself, that guy's a retard.

How do they manage to shoot in such low light with so little noise? They can't use any less than 1/80 shutter and any more than f/5 aperture.

I have a nikon d3300, which I used to use for photo but I now do more video work.

I saw the d5500 and it runs 1080p60 as opposed to the 1080p30 on the d3300.

I know that Canon is better for video but I have a lot of lenses for Nikon and I don't want them to go to waste, plus I don't have the money for a bunch of new lenses.

So /p/, whats the verdict on shooting video with Nikon?

"Canon is better for video" is a meme. The 5D Mark II was fantastic, which is why most people think canon = video, when the truth is Canon DSLRs aren't really too different performance wise from Nikon in general. I'd even argue that Nikons are slightly better in the moire/aliasing department.

Of course there is Magic Lantern but that's something I don't think people should be messing around with on entry level DSLRs anyway, other than maybe for peaking, and zebras.

There is it's called program.
>>
>>3038320
Because you want to have control of the DOF or motion, anything other than that is just lame ass auto mode.

P mode(aka professional mode) is only usefull in nikon cameras because you can control both DOF and motion turning the dial.
>>
>>3038320

there is on Pentax cameras, called Sv (Sensitivity value)

Also there is Shutter speed AND aperture priority, called TaV (TimeAperture value)

Also, not to mention superb HyperProgram (lets you override shutter or aperture at any time, and easy way to reset)
