My Dad has given me a his Contax 139.

The camera shutter jams intermittently and I wondered if any members knew someone who could refurbish/fix the camera.

I have put in new batteries so this is not the problem.

I live In Essex and can go to London so I would be grateful if anyone could recommend someone who could get it back to working order.

Cheers

Open the back and hit the shutter with some Ballistol to loosen it up.
Should work fine after that.

Ballistol is a German product invented during WWI and still used today for emergency treatment of burns or cleaning of wounds and in camera and gun shops/clubs all over Central Europe.
It is the national drink of Slovakia. Also available in non alcoholic versions

Can confirm, Ballistol is the absolute shit. It does smell like, well I can't really describe it but I think it's disgusting.

Pentax as a brand is the epitome of uncoolness and irrelevance, the kind of name that slapped on anything makes it look and feel 10x cheaper than it actually is.

Why wouldn't Ricoh just get rid of this burden and start its camera business afresh?

Looking for Canon 4K cameras for cinematography in the $1.5-2.5k range. Is it true the 5d mark III can be hacked to produce 4K video similar in quality to the Mark IV? If so that's a $1000 savings.

I'm sure this could have been asked in the gear general

DSLR, your choice is pretty much Canon or Nikon, coke or pepsi, ect. They are the same and if you ask the sales person they will sell you whatever has the biggest sales intensive (makes them the most money).

you could pentax a shit, but then no one would ever care and your photos will be bad
>>
well actually i thought of pentax cause one of my friends shoots a pentax k7 and the photos are actually good

Is it just me or does micro four thirds actually look like film?
>>
>>3139269
yes, it's the only sensor size that can accurately replicate film
>>
>>3139269

It os the combination of heavy grain in low iso, beightly lit pictures that does it for you.

Take a picture at ISO 6400 in daylight with a fullframe camera and then apply chronatic noise reduction and you get a similar image.

I saved for over a year and I'm 40 dollars away from affording one.

Talk me out of getting this. What's a better camera that I can get for $1000?

I'm using it strictly for video. I only really want to make shorts and music videos with it. So photos are not really in my interest with it.

I'm aware of the m43 meme but for my budget, it seems like the best bang for my buck.

It is, but consider Fuji t-20 and Sony a6300. I'd still go g85 purely for video.

m43 is fine for video though, go for it.
>>
>>3139188
>four thirds
You can get any DSLR with APS-C sensor and it will be much better than getting a four thirds. Just get a D3400

>video
Just get yourself vlogging cameras like RX100 that can record 4k video
