Just bought one of these for my Nikon D750. Not the best trigger in the world but was in a local camera store buying a stunning Nikon 85mm f1.8D for a steal, and thought that for £60 it would do for now.
Problem is it doesn't seem to have high-speed sync, or at least I can't get it to work.
I'm using a Nikon D750 and an SB700, which works with HSS just fine when it's on-camera. Issue is I don't know how to control it with the Hanhel attatched.
Hitting the flash button on the camera, which with a flash attached normally allows you to scroll through flash modes, just pops up the inbuilt flash.
The flash itself only works in Manual, not TTL mode. Not a big issue as I'm using manual flash 90% of the time anyway, but it suggests this trigger is just a piece of shit that simply triggers a flash, end of.
If it's useless, it also works as a remote trigger if you swap the tranmitter and reciever around, so I can use it for that. The store I got it from don't allow returns. Cunts.
Any system people recommend?
for US$45 you could've gotten a flashq trigger set, has the same limitations (no TTL, no HSS), but it's smaller and costs less. you got fucked, m8.
Haha, yeah. I was kind of in a rush as I'm going away in a few weeks.
What would people recommend that DOES do HSS?
>>3141855
Godox or cactus.
I'm going on a trip to Nepal at the end of the year and intend on taking my 5D mkII with me, with the intent of doing some night-timelapse photography on the Annapurna Circuit.
The time of year I am going can get cold af (sometimes -20c/-4f before wind chill). In the past, cold temperatures ("cold", as in 5c/41f) can often result in dew forming on the lense within an hour or 2 and ruining everything.
My question is; will dew be an issue if the temperature is this low? Using methods of heating the lense will probably be unsuccessful/pointless at these temperatures as its just so cold.
Aside from the issue of dew, are there any other recommendations any of you may have for nightlapse in these temperatures?
The cold might contract your lens a bit, so wait until your camera itself has become as cold as the surroundings.
So fucking jealous
you'll be fine, the main concern will be battery life. i toook my 5d2 to norway earlier, the gear held up well without any protection, but battery life was like 3/4 of original

Is it possible to achieve or come close to shooting video and pics that look as amazing and vivid as this movie (Alien Covenant), with my A7 mk 2? Lens requirements? Settings? Newfag here, be nice pls and thank.

yes, if scenes from the avengers was shot on the 5D2, the A72 is more than what you'll need to achieve a simple scene like that.
>>3140854
your camera certainly has the capacity to capture images that look cinematic, but you have to learn cinematography first (i don't mean to sound sassy but it really is that simple)
learn about lighting and composition and practice practice practice
>>3140854
I would say yes, to an extent. It will take you a LOOONG time to get to that point. And the difference with the cameras they use is that there is so much data flowing through there in a RAW video format that they can do a lot more with the footage. In the screenshot you provided, for example, in the original footage I can bet you the footage is actually brightly lit, you can clearly see the actors faces, but when they color the footage, they darken it, color it very heavily etc. That kind of coloring isn't really possible with an a72, so you'd have to shoot your footage to look very similar to how you want the final product to look in terms of exposure.
If you really want to learn to shoot, just grab a friend and do a little day trip each weekend out somewhere, film the trip, and make a little 30 second video to some good music to practice shooting with a purpose, editing, and learn to do basic coloring. That will make you learn really fast.

Come on man, don't believe that meme. Yeah, maybe a scene or two, but it was a minor pick up shot for something small. It's just not possible, simply because those movie are output at 4k res, a 5dmk2 video will look like complete ass on a big screen. One of my friends actually made a movie that was put in theaters, and they filmed some shots that required a small camera because of confined spaces, and when I watched the movie at the theatre it was painfully obvious which scenes used it.
Been doing some research and I keep seeing good sample photos from the Sony a7R II. I will mostly be taking landscape photos & action/sport shots but I want my photos to look something in the realm of this:
www.instagram.com/charlottelittlewolf
(I know she most likely edits and uses filters but I want that smooth look).
Would a 55mm/1.8 lens do the trick? I used to own a Canon Rebel XTi but I'm ready to take the plunge of getting better at taking photos and not relying on my iPhone all the time.
>LOOK AT ME IM LITERALLY WHITE: THE PHOTO
>never worn before poncho
>ugly ass mug but cucked numales will find her "so beautiful" because of the meme filter
>meme filter
>super coarse and contrasty look, but anon thinks its "smooth"
jesus.
>>3140826
You are a dumb cuck op. Learn to get the look you like with the camera you have. If you really needed this body you'd have bought it already
>>3140826
This is 90% processing and 10% the lens. It has nothing to do with the camera.
I don't know if it's the appropriate board for this but I am looking for an action camera or a good quality camera that will fulfill my needs. I am not familiar with the market so I don't know all the types and models. Basically, I am starting a Youtube channel but with no intention of getting big, just sharing stuff. My main activities will be scuba diving (200 feet max), racing and hiking. I thought of getting a GoPro 5 but what are the other alternatives on the market? What about compact cameras? Budget is around 1200 CAD$
>>3140769
The hero5 is the best thing you can get right now. I had one, was awesome, only sold it because I didn't use it enough to justify keeping it.
>>3140769
FDR X3000 has physical image stabilisation. Which is pretty useful in more extreme conditions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfbNjQbOOzQ
>>3140824
Not just physical, but lens + sensor whole module moves. Xiaomeme 4k+ does 4k 60fps from what I recall too. GoPro is overpriced crud.
What is the best budget option for underwater photography?
Do those zip lock bags type things actually work?
Are there any reliable but cheap (under 50) housings?

A gopro Hero5 is a retard proof all in one solution for basic underwater photography. a lot of my friends who go on dive trips just use gopros since they're purpose built to work alright underwater. What you give up is the flexibility that a DSLR brings to the table; what you gain is reliability and simplicity. Also they're p cheap.

Already have a gopro but as you said it lacks the ability to use different lenses.

Actually Nikon seems to be kinda ready to do it pretty soon.
they are still feeling save in their comfort zone with their DSLRs. but it's a bit strange because the sonys and mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses in general sell pretty good from what i've heard.
Canon lacks the high-end mirrorless AF technology, and so does Nikon.
They are afraid they will appear as inferior.

Hi /p/
I recently picked up a Pentax ME Super which works really well and it can take some amazing photos.
But there's just one thing, every single image seems to have a black smugh in the bottom left corner. Some images you don't really notice but some images it becomes more predominant.
Anyone know what it could be?

Should I get an a6500 or a6300? Is the IBIS and touchscreen worth the $500 jump in price?
>>3140259
If you shoot video, ibis is worth it
if you shoot video, don't ever buy a fucking sony, go for the gh5
if you shoot stills, go for the a6300, or even a6000
>>3140270
>if you shoot video, don't ever buy a fucking sony, go for the gh5
unless you are planning to shoot a lot of low light video
>>3140314
What is rolling shutter for 500 please. Who cares about low light if you literally can't pan ever for video without your entire video turning into jello.
