Because the 80D's new sensor architecture, continuation of the excellent dual pixel AF system, and the release of the M5 count as nothing?
Oh right, it's Sony posters, so there's some fine print.

anyone else made the transition from hobbyist to /p/ro?
I'm not super pro, I'm only at a point where photography is paying 80% of my bills. lots of small jobs and I get one or two bigger contract a year where I can hire 3-4 assistants and get to manage a staff. which is great.
the down side is that I spend 5% of my time shooting 50% editing, 30% invoicing and book keeping, 10% wondering and stressing about paying bills, 4% wondering how I'm gonna pay rent this month, and 1% telling people to fuck off with their exposure bucks.
5% shooting is probably pretty optimistic, it's probably closer to 1 - 0.5%

seems to me that you need to be more efficient. This will decrease time spend on editing invoicing etc. then when you get better/faster you can do more and maybe hire someone to fix some stuff for you.
Also, why diid you transition?
>>3055178
I was doing conceptual documentary, 6x6 and 4x5 for years trying to put a book together then a few years ago someone asked me to shoot something
was never planned and it seemed like a few quick bucks while I finished my degree
getting more and more people calling and have problems saying no if people are paying, problem is I don't feel confident to charge much more than other people in town.
I hate doing real estate so I charge double what the other guys do and still cant get rid of those clients
The entirety of my income comes from photography as a freelancer. Granted, I don't spend much time on invoicing since I have 3 steady gigs throughout the year and I fill in the gaps with random jobs as they come, which is usually by word of mouth. I hate post-processing though - so tedious and mind-numbingly boring.
Bought my first camera and went to North Korea a few months ago. Would appreciate some constructive criticism.

Lately i have been looking out for a good 6x17 camera. Ived been thinking of getting into making large prints of landscapes or architecture and selling them.
The shen hao 6x17 camera seems to be the best option because of rise and fall and tilt etc etc plus wide variety of lenses but on the other hand it might be the best run and gun option unlike the Fujifilm GX617 which is slightly straight forward and faster to set up.
I already have the Xpan but im looking for a larger format that can take in some crazy resolution for fine printing.
Any suggestions? or which one is better the Shen Hao (pic related) or the GX617?
Same topic, I was also looking at a 6x17.
Probably just the Fuji one, anyone know how to attach filters to the lenses.
They all have those frames that go out further then the lenses do
I guessing it just uses 4x5 lenses and uses a narrower part of the image circle, sure it will give you a lot more choice in lenses, but it doesn't look like it takes a roll film back. if you are going to shoot sheet film, why not just go 4x5 and crop?
wide angle lens are plentiful and cheap with LF because landscape shooting boomers are always upgrading to the super duper extra last years APO. While good 210 portrait length lenses are like hens teeth
>>3062975
yes it does.. it takes in a 120 roll although the gx617 can do a 220 but finding a 220 film is really hard nowadays
hey /p/ i'm kind of questioning my photography now. It’s turning out to be a “pull a random girl and shoot” and it’s meaningless. They all look generic and isn’t fun. What do you guys do with the photos you shoot and what drives you to shoot more? I want to go for photos in pic, something pretty, interesting, and nice to look at. Discuss about overall logistics of your photography and stories.
do you exclusively work with qts with qt feets?
>>3062809
pic is not mine. it's a japanese model. I do have a muse to work with but i don't think i'll be shoot her feet. though i want to mimic this shot
what are the best ways to chase away a model if she happens to have beef curtains or fugly ratchet toes?
Is it worth it buying a company refurbished lens, or should I just save a little more to buy a brand new one? Are refurbished ones real shitty?
it depends.
>>3062564
It would help if you even knew what 'refurbished' meant.
>>3062566
Well, let's say I'm looking at Nikon 50/1.8G AF-S Nikkor prime
(it's not expensive as it is even brand new, but I'm a poorfag and neither am I good enough at photography to think investing every last cent I have is a good move)
Why won't more cameras feature analogue dials?

Why the fuck is there an oil gauge on that camera?
>>3062565
Indicates how much battery power remains. Memory card capacity is on the dial's outermost rim. RHN I don't understand.
Also, the button in the middle of the shutter release is one of the worst possible camera UI decisions. Kill it with fire.

I really want something that runs through all the standard portrait/headshot lighting setups and then goes into advanced stuff. Not sure if such a tutorial exists.
>lol anon, why do you spend so much time and money in photography? Isn't it, like, just pointing the camera to a thing and shooting?
>what is this color grading thing you talk about? Is it like snapchat filters?
If this bothers you chances are you shouldn't spend so much time or money on photography
What kind of filter was used in these photos?
>>3063001
Some instagram filter
>>3063001
I stumbled upon this image on wikipedia and it looked like it had some sort of filter applied.
Do you agree or could this just be taken from a camera? It seems odd for the photographer to apply a filter.

I'm filming my first wedding with my new Panasonic GH5. Already have a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art
Should my second lens be the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art or the Voigtlander NOKTON 25mm f/0.95
